Why not (Suns) make a run for Bosh?

Doesn't it seem like if LeBron leaves Bosh won't follow him to that same destination? If LeBron leaves it would seem to point to a total break up of Miami's big 3 to me.

If LeBron say came to PHX it would seem far more likely for Bosh to go home to Houston than to follow LeBron to the Suns.

That would put the Suns in some trouble with trying to get a 2nd star next to LeBron, which after all would seem to be the main selling point for LeBron coming here. Bledsoe would likely get maxed out or near maxed. With Bosh and Melo elsewhere, I'm not sure who else the Suns could get.

Loul Deng or Pau Gasol would be possibilities but they're hardly superstar types. Bledsoe might become one, but we don't know yet.

Hopefully the Suns have a deal w/ Minny for Love just waiting to be executed if LeBron signs, with the Suns knowing that Love would extend here to be w/ LBJ.

I do think this is a possibility. There is every chance that Bosh WON'T want to play with LeBron on another team. However, the Suns would be contenders even without adding anyone but LeBron, and you have to believer there would be other options--like Love.

Didn't we draft Loul Deng? Perhaps we should have hung on to him in the first place. I don't remember what we got for him.

Suns drafted him for the Bulls. I think the Suns got cash if memory serves.

Cash went on to a Hall of Fame career for us though, so you can't complain. :bang:

Before anyone does, just a reminder that this move was not one of Sarvers blunders of that nature. He did not take over the team until after the draft. That was Jerry's decision. Ok, back to your original programing.

That and Deng's jump shot is kinda iffy, so that rules him out for the Suns. ;)

Is that correct? I seemed to recall it was sort of a hyrbid decision, I thought Sarver wanted the payroll reduced as part of him buying the team. Similiar to the KT to Seattle trade, technically it was Kerrs move, but he had to do it to appease Sarver. Though I could be totally misremembering that.

Back to the threads purpose:

Bosh considering Houston offer

^ thats GREAT for the Suns. If Bosh bolts to Houston b/c he's pissed before LeBron signs, it would seem to greatly lessen LeBrons chances of returning to Miami. While it would open up money for Miami to sign Deng, Gasol, whoever, is that really an upgrade over Bosh? Or more importantly, would LeBron perceive it as an upgrade? Though if Miami did get say both Gasol and Deng, they could try to sell LeBron on more of a team approach instead of a 3 stars and a cloud of dust approach.

Either way, I think Suns fans should probably be hoping Bosh signs in Houston.

I actually think Bosh leaving the Heat might ensure LeBron staying because a Bron, Wade, Deng, Pau foursome is pretty damn good and possible with Bosh off the books. Or Bron could then play with Melo and try and Big 3 it with Wade/Melo. I don't think that team wins anything, but Bron probably does.

My recollection of the trade was that Chi sent their 1st in the succeeding year and their 2nd rounder that year - which we used to draft the 'Sausage King'. I also believe the Suns were focused on Iggy not Deng and being convinced Iggy would be gone, they made the trade. I'd been following the Bulls that year and because they started to get it together the last quarter of the season, I was fearing we'd get a much worse pick out of the deal than we were giving up. What really made the trade ugly was that my fears were well founded. Not as bad as trading it for that guy Cash, though.

The story was we would have taken Iguodala with the 7th pick had we kept it but we were convinced he wouldn't be there.

Even if the Heat sign LeBron, Pau and Deng, they're still not likely to be a super team.

C. Gasol/Minimum player (Oden?)
PF LeBron/McRoberts
SF Deng/Granger
SG Wade/cheap guy (Ray Allen?)
PG Cole/Napier

Doesn't strike fear into my heart anyhow. Its deeper, but Wade is still getting older, they're weak at PG, not much front court depth means LeBron would be playing almost exclusively at the 4.

I think that team IS much better then what they had this year. It's not a super team, but it's a very good team that has more options. As old as Gasol is, I still think he can make just as much impact as Bosh and Deng is a huge upgrade on the perimeter and as a fourth scoring option. Throw in a Granger/Allen/McRoberts as your depth and I think that team can put up a much bigger fight against SA and still breeze through the East.

I guess my thought was if Melo goes to the Bulls, that team probably becomes the favorite in the East over this hypothetical Heat team (or at least they would be in my mind).

And if LeBron is choosing between that team and the Suns with a potential Love deal* worked out, then its no contest that the Suns are better (though in a tougher conference).

C Plumlee/Len
PF Love/whoever
SF LeBron/Tucker/Warren
SG Dragic/Green
PG Bledsoe/Ennis

* I'm assuming the Suns would have lose both Morris' and just tons of pick to make the deal, it could also cost them Ennis and/or Warren too, but you get the idea.

Or Love could also partner with Gasol and/or Deng in Phoenix as well. Even getting only one of Gasol or Deng to PHX and keeping the rest of this roster is MUCH better than that Heat team.

C Plumlee/Len
PF Gasol/Morris
SF LeBron/Morris/Warren
SG Dragic/Green
PG Bledsoe/Ennis

or

C Plumlee/Len
PF LeBron/Morris
SF Deng/Morris/Warren
SG Dragic/Green
PG Bledsoe/Ennis

I'd take either of those over the Miami team if I were him.

I'd take that first team over a Gasol/Bron/Deng/Wade/? team, but not the second one. If Bron is going to have play PF, I think he'd much rather do so with a legit 7 footer next to him while staying in the East. Truth is, if the Spurs had lost to the Thunder, I think the Heat probably win it all again. I don't think that second suns squad gets through the West, but I do think the Heat squad blazes through the East again and would match up much better with the Spurs...if the Spurs even got there again.
