Why not (Suns) make a run for Bosh?

I am sure we would go for Bosh if James decides to go somewhere else.

We are not going to get James and Bosh though. Not worth gutting our depth to also give Bosh a max deal.
In that case trading for Love is just so much better when we have to trade decent young players to make room anyway.

Maybe but I would hope not. Bosh would make us better but it wouldn't make us a contender and it would eat away at our flexibility.

I've read Bosh will only leave MIA for DAL. I can see HOU as it still puts him in TX. PHX options are going to be limited to second and third tier FA's unless they make some trades. PHX really needs another PF if Frye signs elsewhere. There isn't a stretch 4 left on the market so if PHX is looking for that type of player then a trade is necessary.

I'm sure I'll get raked over the coals for this, but how about Bargnani? He's on a $12 million expiring contract, still only 28, and I'm sure the Knicks would love to get rid of him. If the Suns strike out on the big stars, they could trade for Bargnani and get the Knicks to include some sweeteners.

The Knicks have no sweeteners. We don't need Shumpert and I'm not sure they have any 1st rounders to trade. Bargnani makes Frye look like Karl Malone. I wouldn't be against the Suns using their cap space a la Seattle when they absorbed Kurt Thomas.

I was thinking along those lines, but I hadn't gotten to the point of figuring out what the sweeteners would be. It's true that the Knicks seem to have very little to offer.

I'd be all for Chris Bosh joining the Suns. Bosh would help space the floor for the rest of the team.

Bosh on a 10 or 12 million dollar deal, yes. Bosh on a max deal, no way. Supposedly his agent has been calling interested teams recently to confirm they are still willing to pay him the maximum. I think that's somewhere north of 20 million but I don't know for sure. Regardless, it would make us a playoff team but I don't like our chances beyond that at that kind of money.

Right and the worst part is that it takes us out of the Kevin Love sweepstakes.

There are always unprotected future first round picks. :D

Our Phoenix Suns. Always the bridesmaid . . . And the rest of the league knows it.

Better to be in the bridal party than to not be invited to the wedding.

I'd take the Suns history over the majority of teams in the league.

The Bucks came in the league the same year as the Suns. They have a title and once had the great center we always wanted. Would you trade history with them? I wouldn't, they've been mostly miserable.

We aren't in the Kevin Love sweepstakes if LeBron doesn't come here.

I don't think that's been established positively. If he's traded at the trade deadline, a lot can change between now and then.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bosh get tired of waiting around for LeBron and bolt first. I would guess he would go to Dallas most likely.

If that happens, Miami might be able to go for Melo, if he has not signed yet. Otherwise that will force LeBron out of Miami.

So, the hope is that Melo resigns with NY, Bosh bolts for Dallas, and LeBron is stuck choosing between the Cavs and Suns.

Adrian Woj has already said that Love said he won't resign with the Suns or Cavs with the roster as is.

I've seen a tweet that said he would. I can't remember the tweeter at the moment.

Woj has some interesting tweets I haven't seen reported elsewhere.

First his latest article, then the tweets from earlier (Jul 3rd through ~12 hours ago)

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/lebron...ami-as-rivals-hope-for-breakup-225603512.html

The Cleveland Cavaliers are shopping Jarrett Jack's contract with a future draft pick to move closer to freeing a full maximum contract slot to offer James, league sources said. If the Cavaliers lose out on James, they're still considering a max-level offer sheet on Utah restricted free agent Gordon Hayward, sources said. The Cavaliers want to engage the Jazz on a sign-and-trade for Hayward, but Utah has shown no inclination to do anything with Cleveland but unblinkingly match an offer sheet and keep Hayward, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Phoenix Suns remain an intriguing dark horse for James because general manager Ryan McDonough could offer him something no one else outside Miami can now: a second max-salary slot to pick a co-star. The Suns can quickly shed $10 million more in contracts to pursue James and a second star – perhaps Bosh, if James wanted – and they'd still be able to keep the talented core of Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and center Miles Plumlee.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA · 12h

Chris Bosh's reps have made recent calls on market to reconfirm that max slots would be available to him, sources tell Yahoo. Answers: Yes.

Meanwhile, Rockets, Cavs pushing closer to creating max contract slots. Deals lined up for Jeremy Lin. Cavs shopping Jarrett Jack w/ a pick.

If LeBron James wants a short-term deal in Miami, why would Bosh commit long-term at a steep discount -- only to get left behind later?

Another team official who met with James' agent, Rich Paul, in Cleveland tells Yahoo: "I think it's all a smoke screen."

Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra are in L.A. meeting with free agents today. They've made inroads in talks, sources tell Yahoo. Still confident.

Unless Pat Riley lines up talent appealing to James within cap structure soon, one LBJ suitor says: "LeBron seems ready to explore market."

Says official who was part of meetings ESPN reported on: "There's clearly a breakdown in communication between LeBron and (Wade and Bosh)."

Three finalists could return to Cleveland early next week to make presentations w/ agent and LeBron James present, source tells Yahoo.

The one that said he would was later.

The fact that LeBron is IN Cleveland? Does that have any impact on all this? I know its where he lives during the summer, but I suppose that would indicate something.

Perhaps. But the way I see it, since he is letting his agent handle it, and we hear that Lebron and his agent will be meeting with teams supposedly early next week, he could just be meeting up with him and preparing. I fully expect that everything will be run through Cleveland next week. Indeed from what I've read, Cleveland is their offseason home. So while it may mean something, it may not either.

Lots of people think it's not going to be done until after the World Cup final he's supposed to attend, but perhaps that will be what he does AFTER he makes a decision.

Well either way we'll see.

As I have thought more about this, the Decision has already been made. Its not like someone is going to swoop in on the 11th hour and persuade someone as savvy as James. This has all be thought out he is too calculating.

Based on my reading of the tea leaves? I would STILL bet Miami but I got a hunch (and have for awhile) this is all a set up to go back to Cleveland. Where theres smoke theres fire IMO. He wants his kids there, his wife wants to be there, and you know he wants to rebuild that bridge and now he has his championships so he doesnt have to worry (as much) about legacy.

Yeah im calling my shot. I think he goes back to Cleveland. which I think is insane with the team they currently have but maybe there is something bigger in the works?

If Lebron actually did sign with the Suns, it's conceivable the Suns could do a sign and trade with the Wolves for Kevin Love. Problem solved.

Indeed but the first step is signing Lebron & that is a BIG step.

I'm still thinking Lebron, Bosh and Wade stay in Miami. I think once Carmelo makes a decision (likely to stay in New york) the other moves will quickly follow... should Lebron decide to return from vacation.
