Now that Verizon has the IPhone they're getting rid of the new every 2?

In other words now that they have a monopoly on all the best resources they're gonna give their customers a big F you.

They will do more targeted discounts based on rate plan and monthly payment history.

Apple does not tolerate price discounts of any kind on that device or any of its accessories.

In short.... NE2 wouldn't have been allowed on iPhone anyways and had nothing to do with it.

It has more to do with the enormous amount of customers on the cheapest plans (and old loyalty plans) with another 15 to 20% knocked off due to a company discount. No one can legitimately argue that they deserve $30 or $50 more dollars lopped off an already heavily subsidized product.

The 10 year old NE2 policy didn't differentiate between these customers and the ones who actually deserve a bigger discount. So it had to be changed.

BS. Bad move. Just don't offer NE2 for iphones and be done with it.

NE2 is (was) a great program.

Again.... The program still exists, just not with the name NE2.

Big red had to remove low tier customers (the cheapest of the loyalty offers and poor revenue plans) in order to keep the revenue positive.

You would do the same thing if you ran the company. Maybe the PR campaign should improve, but the change in course was necessary.

Don't pay. Sucks you are having these problems. I have had nothing but perfection from Verizon. Where I had nothing but trouble with AT&T both in signal and billing.

I've already suck my foot down. I'm not paying, but I'd like to see that crap off of my bill. The 3 other people that told me to eat $250 in data/text charges when I was supposed to be on an unlimited plan can eat a fat one. Thankfully, we were able to get a very nice manager in store that said that he was refunding the charges.... i just don't see them on there yet.

Help me Verizon Man.

I just got an HTC Incredible and the battery is only lasting about 6 hours. I might be playing with it for 2 hours but the other 4 is stand by. Got any ideas?

Got the App killer, not sure how it works?

Juice defender. Works great.

You need to set up the task killer to ignore apps you don't want it to close. Open the app. Then press and hold on an app you want to keep running and select ignore. Once you have customized it, add the widget to your home screen. By just tapping on the widget it will kill all of the apps you havn't ignored.

Juice Defender runs in the background. You have to do nothing. It cleans up hidden processes that can drain your battery.

Finally, The incredibles biggest opportunity for improvement is battery life. I can get through a day, but once I bought the extended battery I never worried about it again.

Task killers on Android phones is a much debated topic. Many argue that it doesn't help at all and, in fact, often leads to worse battery life.

http://lifehacker.com/5650894/andro...ed-what-they-do-and-why-you-shouldnt-use-them

I personally don't use one of my Incredible. I did order a 1500 mAh battery on ebay for about $15 that barely squeezes under the stock battery door. It will be around 30% by the end of the day most of the time. I also have a wall charger for the spare battery so that I have one battery in the phone and a charged spare with me.

Task Killers free up operating ram as well.... That allows any "lagginess" to go away. But you are correct, some like it, some don't. I personally do, but it is a debate.

As far as battery, that 1500mAH one is nice. The OEM extended battery add a bit of thickness, and requires a new back housing. Here is a webpage.... I couldn't find the perfect pic, but you might get the idea.

And finally......

I have now played with the Blackberry playbook, Motorola Xoom, and the HTC Thunderbolt.

WOW for the Xoom and Thunderbolt.

Meh for the playbook.

Been with Sprint for many years and never had a problem.

Same here. I've had Sprint for 10 years and I cant remember the last time a call dropped. I get 3G everywhere I go and their customer service is excellent. Speaking from experience, Sprint has been a perfect carrier for me over the last decade, even with all the technology changes.

Nobody is wrong and nobody is right it's just a matter of what works for you where you live. Verizon, Sprint and all the others can make all the maps they want but to me, it really doesn't matter if Verizon has 3g in bumbledunk Montana and Sprint doesn't because I'll never go to bumbledunk Montana so who cares? I guess if you are someone that travels all over the country constantly you would want to check out those maps but it's just about finding something that works for you and as far as I can tell, if you live in a metropolis the national carriers are all playing on a pretty level field.

WTF??

Verizon to throttle data speeds for heaviest users of iPhone:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20030514-233.html?tag=nl.e798

This is too vague to get upset about IMO. Until we know what the limits are, or hear from the people who actually have been throttled back, this will be nothing more than a negative PR ploy on iPhone Launch day.

I will let you know if I find the limits. Honestly though.... Most carriers have been doing this for Mobile Broadband cards for a while now.

:biglaugh:

"If you use an extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5 percent of Verizon Wireless data users we may reduce your data throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of your then current and immediately following billing cycle to ensure high quality network performance for other users at locations and times of peak demand,"

Seems pretty clear.

1. I bolded may.

2. what defines extraordinary?

3. What is the top 5 limit? does it move? is it static?

4. Are these PEAK demand times posted? Are they static or do they move?

Seriously.... This is a very vague statement, and has the word "may" right in the piece you quoted.

I don't know how they could have been more vague.

Other than just posting this.....

Could you explain what parts you found to be concrete?

I understand they are training the base to be prepared for tiered data and that the future "may not" include an unlimited data plan, but I don't understand what in this statement is a blanket rule about how they will handle high end data users.

LoL I dont care enough to argue with you it just seemed pretty cut and dry to me. The heaviest data users MAY have their speed limited, thats all it said. It just seemed like they were warning people that it's a possibility. I didn't say anything negative about Verizon. Dont take it personally.

You are very passionate about your favorite wireless provider! :)

This has nothing to do about passion.... You made it clear that I was wrong about it being vague.

I dont get how you or anyone could say it is cut and dry. They put the mumbo jumbo in there in a direct attempt to make it as vague as possible. And then made it clear that they werent slamming the door, just that they may do something.

They are dipping their toes in the water. Thats what I got.
