MHJ would have likely dropped it if he found him :)

I deleted it as this one is better. Yes Kyler gets initial pressure but when he avoids that he has to see Marv downfield. These are the plays that make a difference between winning and losing.

This is a good play for me in summing up Kyler. On the face of it he makes a nice play to avoid the sack and find McBride, I'm sure QBR gave him a bunch of points for that, what it doesn't account for is missing the wide open guy downfield for a certain TD.

He’s definitely missed a streaking MHJ a handful of times this season. Kyler’s vision leaves much to be desired

Good news: we won anyway.

Never heard more about QBR than when Kyler started ranking high in it. Seems like Kyler being in a lot of close games, running for first downs, and not having to pass much is helping his rate stats.

Would love to have more volume. The opponent scored 15 points on five field goals and we won by two points at home. Gotta get better play from the QB position.

Eh. Like I said Brit. Get Murray another Dhop and watch him suddenly become a more competent passer.

Also, how effective is Murray when he's throwing to Big Play Trey? See what I mean?

And didn't you like how calm and poised he was last night?

The Chargers pass rush was on him, but he still executed most of the plays pretty well, including on the game winning drive.

I'm proud of Murray gutting out a tough win just like I'm proud of Conner and the defense.
I will definitely give him credit for poise last night. There was a play in the 1st where he shuffled around in the pocket like Warner would have.

FWIW I'll stop bring up QBR. It does favor less volume. I used it last year to note how much he struggled in this this offense imo. I will say the good thing is he isn't taking bad sacks and killing drives.

Obviously we hope for a clear eye test/winning that he is playing much better football going forward.

Would love to see the pocket on that play. Kyler certainly misses open WR sometimes w out a doubt, but a good percentage of those times are due to what’s going on w the poor Oline. Not all but a good percentage

Would have been one heck of a last second flick as he’s moving laterally - Jeesh you have the most unrealistic expectations

I thought heading into this year we would pound the ball and open up huge play action.
Well, we are pounding the ball but nothing huge is coming off of it.
Why?

I think teams are happy to give up moderate runs and keep two safeties high. Better to give up an eight-yard run than a 25-yard pass. Yes, James Conner is getting a few big runs in, but defenses understand he's one two-yard run away from being behind schedule.

Well, well! Praise from an unexpected corner on the heels of just over 100 yards passing last night from our QB1, but welcome nonetheless! :)

That was such a hard fought, physical game man. Hope you enjoyed it Stout!

I would also add that last night is the first time I can remember K1 standing in the pocket, delivering the ball, and taking a hit.

Nailed it. The floor of this team is so much higher with MHJ performing as expected. I hope they get it going but my confidence isn't high that it will.
And also even analysts are saying Petz doesn’t know what he’s doing outside of a run game. It’s blatantly obvious he’s clueless. Not sure how a passing game can thrive when is common folk and the analysts are saying they “don’t know what they’re doing” in regards to the passing game

This is the problem. Kyler has the worst EPA in the league from a clean pocket.

All his brilliance is coming from runs and scrambles, but give him a clean pocket to drop back, go through reads and find his guy and he's below Levis and Richardson.

What's interesting here is the idea that QBs have a hand in keeping themselves clean with their presence. Look how Richardson and Flacco are opposite ends of the spectrum with the same O line.

Eh, I enjoyed that we won and that our plucky D played well. Our offense needs to improve dramatically and we don't really have good reasons why it isn't.
