Kurt Warner is better the Peyton Manning...

Huge Warner fan here, but I wouldn't say they got the short end of that deal. They could have come out ahead if they had: 1) Convinced Warner that he desperately needed to work on his grip and gotten him to wear the gloves. 2) Gotten Warner to accept his role in a Tom Coughlin grind-attack...

    Cards vs Steelers

Or defense, too damn often. That's changed quite a bit too, though.

"Lions, Cardinals heading in different directions" (not what you think)

Oh man. It's gotta smart to be absolutely 100% wrong.

So this just dawned on me.. This will basically be a Steelers home game.

Yet oddly I do not remember crowd noise being a factor in either game. Good. They'll go broke to watch a loss. Should do wonders for the Pittsburgh economy... buncha depressed people with no money.

Was it me, or are Eagles fans...

I have met classy Philly fans. They aren't that uncommon in my experience, in fact. However, I still think that there's an extremely unhealthy general attitude among Philadelphia fans that just isn't matched anywhere else. My favorite Philly story is about Gus Zernial, outfielder for the...

    2009 Arizona Cardinals Cap Spreadsheet

In the offseason, when teams have buttloads of players under contract, only the salaries of the top 51 count against the cap. Otherwise you couldn't sign the scads of extra players that are given tryouts in training camp.

    Skip Bayless = IDIOT!

That's the state of sports "journalism" in general, unfortunately.

Cards in the Superbowl: "This is HORRIBLE for the NFL!!"

If you think they're going to wait more than a few weeks after the Super Bowl, you're nuts. First time they sign a new free agent or re-sign one of their guys, or whatever, the leg-humping action will be in full force. :D

    Quintin Demps' Cheapshot

Given what Demps looked like in coverage, I'm glad they didn't eject him. But I agree that they should have. That was not really different than a punch, except a lot more likely to cause injury.

    Quintin Demps' Cheapshot

I think it's Thursday that they usually annouce fines? Dunno if they do it any differently in the playoffs.

Cards in the Superbowl: "This is HORRIBLE for the NFL!!"

Actually, no. The first time he blinked into existence from nothingness. This time he's back from the dead. It's anyone's guess which is the more impressive feat. Also, people keep making Jesus references regarding him, starting with Ray Buchanon back in week 5 or so of 1999. He's not...

    Extremely bitter Philly columnist...

Love that he's bitching about how the Cardinals fans weren't wearing the jerseys of any former players. One of the things I love to do when watching any NFL game is scan through the shots of fans to see whose jersey they're wearing. Lots of Jake Plummers. Bunches of Pat Tillmans. Several...

    McNabb's smile

He's just not that accurate, period, touch or no. I saw a good take on him in a post elsewhere... McNabb does just about everything else a quarterback can do pretty well to extremely well. Moving around in the pocket, sensing pressure, running, good zip on throws, throws the deep ball well...

"Go Cards" emblazoned on McNabbs AZ lawn...

No, it's not a hate crime, it's just an idiot. But I'd find it a lot scarier were I an African-American, regardless of the intent.

    Props to Ben Patrick

I absolutely loved the way he grabbed the ball on that two point conversion and wouldn't let go. Nobody hits him, the play's long over, he's still got both arms wrapped around it like somebody's going to try to take it away from him, even as he's walking to the sidelines. :D

Like Rodney Dangerfield... Still no respect. WOW

He's technically wrong about this. The Packers went to and won Super Bowl II with only 9 wins. Of course, that was a 14 game schedule and they also had one tie, but he didn't say "since the NFL went to a 16 game schedule." Still, doesn't say much about his skills as a journalist.

The Cards cannot and will not beat Pittsburgh

Well sure. As always, it's about how well coaches adapt, inside knowledge or no. I'm betting on Whisenhunt. No offense to Tomlin and his staff, who are very good at what they do, but Whisenhunt's just been amazing.

    Terrelle Smith

She was subtly wrong about one thing... he's going to play in THE biggest game in Arizona Cardinals history. Heck, he already did. He's just going to top it in 12 days. Great story... and now another guy I just have to root for. I started paying attention for Warner, but now it's like half...

A word of praise for Leinart.

Yup. I think that's a very good bet. This is the guy, after all, who gave up leverage for his first big contract by showing up and signing a minimum tender contract on the first day of training camp so he didn't miss anything.

Philly reporter John Gonzalez says the Cardinal fans are frauds

It was the somewhat bowdlerized version. A slightly more balanced look here. http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/santa/philadelphia.asp The version posted here leaves out the funniest bit, from the ad-hoc Santa: "Mr. Mullen asked if I wanted to do it again the next year," Olivo says. "I...

How many more sloppy QB to RB exchanges before we lose one?

It's gotten so regular that the commentators didn't even say anything about it. I think maybe Buck and Aikman think Warner prefers handing off while sprawling face-first onto the ground.

Getting "Hochulied" - time for the NFL to have a chat with its refs

Getting "Hochulied" - time for the NFL to have a chat with its refs

That was the argument for not being able to challenge and say there was a fumble when the player was ruled down. They changed that. Hopefully they change this to match.
