The part many forget with this trade is adding 15-20M in cap space to the draft picks. Is OBJ better bet to out produce a couple draft picks. Yeah. Add the production of a 15-20M player with those draft picks and that's a whole different argument.
A team like the Saints would make the most...
I always think it's funny when draft picks are thrown out for trade value or in relation to signing a franchise tagged player. The difference between the Browns two firsts this year and Pats 2018 first and 2019 first are incredible. I know what they are getting at, but this source only tells me...
If they trade for OBJ, they will have added 4 of the biggest head cases in the league along with Suh, Talib, and Peters. It can work for one season, but these players will go sideways at some point.
Like everyone else, I would love for the Cards to get a QBOTF. But if one isn't there at 15, I want them to focus on creating a dominant D and run game. Vita would be a great start for the D. He can add a physical dimension and attitude!
There are 10 that I would be shocked to see fall to #15:
1. QB Darnold
2. QB Allen
3. QB Rosen
4. QB Mayfield
5. DE Chubb
6. RB Barkely
7. CB Ward
8. OG Nelson
9. LB Edmunds
10.DB Fitzpatrick
More likely than not I feel the next three will go before us:
11. An ILB either R. Smith or R Evans...
I really do hope he can continue down the right path, but I was never a fan of his on the field game. He couldn't play within the structure of the offense(street baller). Playing behind and amazing line and with Mike Evans made him look a lot better too.
What I would consider to be a game manager is a QB that is asked to make high percentage throws and not turn the ball over. Don't try to be a hero, just don't lose the game for us.
Just playing devils advocate here, but might be a good idea to sign him before LeVean Bell. If DJ has a healthy season and Bell resets RB market, we're screwed. Top RB contracts right now very low compared to what it will be coming up
I wouldn't do this blindly like the Jets. But I would if after the top 3 picks were already made and Darnold somehow still on the board. I agree that before those picks are in this wouldn't be too smart!
I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. Williams is very athletic with excellent feet. He is a natural Left tackle. McGlinchey projects to be better on the right side because he has a hard time against speed rushers. Williams biggest issue is that he has less than ideal arm length...
Did his contract just become guaranteed on the first day of the league year? Why didn't they re-work his deal or cut him before? Maybe I was wrong, but didn't think there was any dead cap?
