No. Dirk nearly bricked both of his free throws and then Kidd blew one. That's a choke job.
he was perfect from the line today. but somehow he chokes.

dang the guy goes 28-14 against the TOUGH lakers and he is still a choke. LOL.

I guess you know your good when you get critiqued for not swishing a free throw. lol. he's just that good I guess.

again lakers choked the game. dallas trailed throughout and closed on a 10-2 margin.

I wrote that Dallas was "trying" to choke it away.

oh ok. i saw it differently i guess. I just think it is hard to choke it when you don't really have it. gasol was the guy that sent dirk to line with 20 seconds with a chance to take the lead. dallas was behind still at that point. kidd missed a ft...that was big because they could have lost the game because of it had kobe hit that three. so i get you there.

The 2nd free throw was a clean swish by Dirk. As for the 1st free throw even good free shooters don't always hit their free throws cleanly but he did make it.

Pretty surprising result and I'm surprised Kobe missed that good look to win the game.

So what's up with the Bulls? I didn't watch them play at all this season but I know they're good, I mean they were the 1 seed. I know they beat Indiana but they struggled against them too.

Are they playing like crap or are these just really bad matchups for them?

yeah...kobe was hot today. he hasn't shot that well in a while in a game that i've watched. lakers wasted his effort today. he was feeling it.

this will be an interesting series. dallas hit a lot of threes in this game which can't be overlooked. they have been shooting the ball a lot better over the last 3 games. down the stretch they were going to dirk (rather than shooting 3's) so that was good. however, dallas does have to hit open outside shots to win games. the last 2 losses against LA they shot terrible from the outside(with open looks). if they knock down shots they can win some of these games. plain and simple.

It was like watching Kobayashi choke on a hotdog. :D
yeah I'm really surprised they left kidd on kobe. kobe can easily shoot over him with how he elevates on that shot. I guess they are really scared about putting kidd on artest, but in that moment with 3.1 you know artest isn't getting the ball in the post on kidd. I guess I could be wrong. there's always the chance of a putback.

both teams have major matchup concerns. who is going to make the other team pay at the offensive end. that is the question. dirk and kobe...neither team has an answer for the other. the mavs could play brewer/stevenson more...the lakers can play odom more. but the more mins you give to those the less you give to the other guys that score a lot of points. the more odom plays the less gasol or bynum play. the more brewer stevenson play the less terry can score off the bench. the roll players have to step up.

Unless ofcourse, Kobe throws up an air ball and Artest grabs it and puts it back in... :bang::bang::bang:

Meh.

All the teams that lost game one will win their series.

Mark it down.

Except the Thunder. I think they will actually lose.

Crazy game. Can't believe Kobe turned it over.

Right? Should have just thrown up a shot instead of trying to kick it out from the rack through the middle of the D. I expect the corner kickout, but top of the key kick? No way in hell that gets there, ever.

Pau's foul at the end was dumb with a capital F.

Good lord the Lakes are a lazy effing team.

Lakers in 6. Good to see Cuban celebrate like they just won a chip.

I just posted basically the same exact thing at the same exact time in the upsets thread.

Various statistical analyses have demonstrated that Bryant is, contrary to reputation, a below-average "clutch" shooter among the league's stars. They float around the major sports websites every year or two, and people quickly forget about them because it's much easier to stick with a popular myth than it is to adjust one's thinking to actual data.

On the second Nowitzki free throw, no. I just watched it on the DVR again and it hits the right backside of the iron first. Sure, good shooters don't always hit their free throws cleanly. Who is disputing that?

So you've seen multiple stats that say Kobe sucks in the clutch and you think people are stupid. Why not just say that?

Long winded you are. :yoda:

Nice start to the second round. Three road teams steal game one. I'm very impressed with Memphis. They really have no real superstars, although Randolph is starting to look like one. Who would have thought. Marc Gasol is also playing well.

For Atlanta, JJ is starting to look like a superstar too. Long time coming. Suddenly, that contract of his is not looking all that bad.

It was painful having to root for Cuban and Mavs, but if that's what it takes to end another Lakers run, so be it. Not sure they can pull it off though.

With Boston and Miami, I really hate both teams, but I think I'd prefer if Boston won.

it probably was the OT....because i missed it.

I watched that game in regulation it was ginobli and neal that hit the shots to help tie it.

OK, that was it then. I haven't watched Parker a lot this year but he was lethal in that OT. Hitting jumper after jumper to keep the Spurs ahead.

BTW, congrats on your Mavericks win over the Lakers tonight. I always enjoy watching the Lakers go down.

Same thing for Jamal Crawford probably. Throws up tons of bad shots but obviously only the makes get on sportscenter.

well the last game dallas played in LA they got blown away in the second half. people failed to mention(and I forgot) that is was a second night of a back to back. I think the lakers didn't play the night before either. it might explain why dallas was flat in that one down the stretch. now I still like the way they battled. a lot of people wrote them off completely after that game because of one bad half of basketball against an elite championship team. however, dallas proved tonight like they did in the regular season, and portland series that they have the toughness and willpower to battle with the lakers. Again I'm not saying they win this series. but as I said all year long...this is not the same soft mavs of the past. this is a tough minded team that will battle the lakers. good to see dirk elevating his playoff numbers like always. i'm also glad to hear things like, "best closer in the game" "most unguardable player on the planet"

again while I am bragging and I do feel good about game 1, it is one game. the lakers are not a dominaant champion like they were when shaq was there. kobe seems to be the only guy on the team who is mentally tough. the rest of the guys are operating off of pure talent and seem to be very moody. maybe this has an impact, but it just means that rather than defeating teams quickly like you would think they would, they play long series' with teams. Eventually it is going to bite them in the rear. time is not on their side. I hope it is this series, but I'm not banking on it.
