To be thier #3 Center at the min 800k for two years. This guy was a bust from the start. At least Kwame Brown played a few games.

Damn we suck.that's a solid move for NY.
and again... what the hell is Dirk thinking right now? dallas is going to be AWFUL next year.
I still give cuban the benefit of the doubt.can Dallas do anything? They have no tradable assets, Dirk's an old man. that team is SCREWED.
i think it's pretty hilarious Cuban to blow-up a team that just won a title to hopefully be a player in FA and will end up with nothing to show for it... or maybe just the MUCH older version of Nash-Dirk that he refused to sign up for 8 years ago.
a lot of people in dallas are already calling for a dirk trade so that he can play on a contender. I'm actually kind of shocked to hear that, but I can't blame them. they don't want to see dirk wasting his final 2 or 3 years on a bad team.dirk for our leftovers, haha. i wonder what dallas has up their sleeve, you don't expect cuban to lay down

It's hard to believe that just about every mainstay from that title team is gone except for dirk and marion. mark cuban is also paying the wrong center. he paid a bad contract to haywood. between haywood and dampier they have robbed him blind. all of those millions could have went somewhere else.
Mavs also are only a year out from winning a title, hell just a few weeks until someone else claimed one, so while things are trending badly for Mavs fans, they got a championship, so imo they shouldn't be too jaded.
I agree and I think cuban and carlisle want to keep marion too. In may dirk made it clear that he was too old to rebuild. he didn't say that he wanted to be traded, but he specifically said that he was not looking to play on a team that was rebuilding. I don't think cuban can hold out hope for the next free agency class because the likelyhood is that someone will acquire dwight howard and re-sign him(could be the lakers if they really want him). and chris paul is probably going to stay with the clippers because they will be able to offer him the most money right? not just that they have young talent around him.it'd be nice to have either of those two guys on our team. marion might be a lil older now, but he can still D it up a bit. Dirk is dirk, i hope he gets his legs back this summer and rejuvenates himself this season versus this past shortened season.
It would have been nice if they would have kept barea. they don't have a point guard now.true, but they instantly busted up a championship team getting rid of some key pieces of talent and their only youth. they could have contended again this year, but instead they're now looking at a complete rebuild.
that is the thought process there in dallas. but dallas/fort worth is a bandwagon sports community. there are too many distractions there for people. once you stop winning the fans will stop going. if this were jerry jones he would be getting nailed to a cross(no joke). they are giving cuban the benefit of the doubt. but I guarantee you once they start losing the sell out streak will end. cuban has to make moves to help dirk or all of those fans that love him will turn on him in a heartbeat just like they do the cowboys when they start stinking(which is a regularity now too).Mavs also are only a year out from winning a title, hell just a few weeks until someone else claimed one, so while things are trending badly for Mavs fans, they got a championship, so imo they shouldn't be too jaded.

I do think that they spent so many years and had so many failures before that year that there was so much relief and celebration. it was almost like the glass got full and there was no hunger left for a lot of those guys. then with the strike it just perpetuated everything. then no one saw the lamar odom deal happening like that. not that it was an excuse, but damn I thought odom would be like adding a stackhouse or a terry. every veteran that they had ever brought in excelled there.Yes, it's almost like Cuban was satisfied with winning one championship and moved on. I thought they had the pieces to contend for another championship before they broke the team up.

I think there were a lot of reasons why he let those guys go. they all wanted long term contracts and he didn't want to be in salary cap hell 2 or 3 years down the road with older players. it's easy to say they could have contended for another title, but with that team at some point age would have caught up. I think looking back you can say that they should have kept chandler, but you never know. the first year after nash left I thought it was a huge mistake to let him go, but 3 or 4 years after nash left I thought that cuban's other moves made up for it in the end.True. But I don't think it was for $$$, but they just made the wrong choices. Maybe I'm wrong though.
if this team is really in full rebuilding mode, I'd sell high on Gortat at this point. I know that's blasphemy for a lot of folks here, but we're going to be bad anyway and gortat's value will never be higher than it is now and likely goes down without Nash IMO.

But if they actually do end up with Gordon this team isn't in rebuild mode, it's been rebuilt. The only option remaining is to amnesty Childress and sign another 6-7mil per year player or use the Nash TPE.
It was fast and ineffective but the rebuilding is done none the less. All additional improvements will be internally, either through player development or through the draft. Maybe they work some trade down the line, but I really think the Suns think they have their core in place.
Warrick has one year left, fry and Chilli have two year each. That's enough for yet another max contract two years from now, or even sooner- waive one of them, trade one of them, and amnesty one of them.
