I always hate to complain about the refs, but looks like SA got away with more in game 3.

Channing Frye has become somewhat relevant since coming to the Cavs.

The way the Cavaliers are playing, they are the second best team in the playoffs behind the Golden State Warriors.imo

i wonder about if the above is true or it's just a function of how weak the East is.

Idk but this Cavaliers team isn't playing like the team we saw in the regular season. Teams can't double LeBron because Kyrie is hitting his jump shots.

I think it's true especially when they put Frye and Love on the wings and use Lebron to generate the offense. That's a very effective system and it will challenge Golden State even at their best, IMO.

Another exciting finish between raptors and heat. Raptors are up by one with under a minute to go.

Toronto wins. They lead the series 2-1.
I feel bad for Joe though....he had wide open look from three but missed.

I never feel bad for Joe Johnson.

How come?

In short, the Suns failed to offer Joe Johnson an extension (huge mistake by Robert Sarver) and the following year he asked the Suns not to match the Hawks offer to sign him as a restricted free agent.

It lead to the Suns trading him for two first round picks and Boris Diaw if I am correct. Really this was not a bad trade but the Suns would have been better off keeping him. This is where the Suns get some of the cheap labels. There are many more examples but I digress.

There are a lot more twists and turns but I can't find the threads at the time that dealt with it. In retrospect most of the blame could be placed on Robert Sarver but Joe Johnson clearly wanted out. However, it was less toxic than the Goran Dragic trade looking back.

we'll see. I hope that to be the case because I'd love to see a great Finals. But that lineup on the court also will get TORCHED defensively by GS and I trust Kerr to limit the wide open looks those guys are getting. Also, JR Smith goes through these shooting streaks where he's on fire, but he eventually cools off and then disappears for like 5 or 6 games.

Yeah you never know what you're going to get with Smith, or Frye for that matter. I think Golden State is still the better team at full strength but Cleveland looks like a real contender now and I didn't think that at any other time this season.

I don't think this Cavs team can compete with GS at their best, or the Spurs for that matter. Barring injuries one of those 2 teams will cruise. Cavs swept a better Atlanta team last year and got beat by a lesser GS team (both relative to this year). The law of averages will soon give JR Smith a brutal reckoning.

Compete with or beat? With a healthy Kyrie Irving they can definitely push either team IMO. JR Spliff is also sniping right now.

I don't think JR will keep sniping, he is shooting at a wildly unsustainable percentage and once he faces a quality team I expect he will swing to the other end of his bi-polar shooting ways.

If they face a healthy Spurs or Warriors IMO they lose in 5.

Or the Morris trade.

JR Smith is capable of maintaining or at least being close to this type of shooting performance as long as the opposing defense has better players to worry about (LeBron, Kyrie, Love).

I think JR as a 2nd or even 3rd option would be bad but he's perfect for a 4th option.

Both teams are now out with their starting centers so it will be interesting to see what adjustments are made.

I hope Curry comes back and the Warriors are healthy enough for the Finals because I would love to see what a healthy Cavs team with both Kyrie and Love could do against a healthy Warriors team.

Of course the Cavs were able to take the Warriors to 6 games with basically just LeBron so the popular belief is that the Cavs would be able to beat the Warriors with a healthy Kyrie and Love.

Maybe pre-73 win season. I don't think this is the popular belief now.

hard to say the matchups change.

That team Cleveland played last year in the playoffs was their best defensive squad, the team they are playing now is an offensive squad. They gave the Warriors fits because they junked it up the refs allowed physical play and that allowed them to stay close to the Warriors.

The lineup they are playing now is not nearly as good defensively due to having Love and Kyrie in there, even JR is not exactly a great defender. They are winning by outscoring Atlanta the Hawks are shooting fairly well in the 2 home losses they didn't make enough 3's and they couldn't stop Cleveland.

IN the 2 road losses they didn't shoot well at all good defense bad shooting who knows.

If the Warriors get there and have a healthy Curry it becomes a matchup of 2 teams that stretch the floor, make 3's. I suspect the warriors are the better defensive team so it really comes down to can Cleveland make enough 3's to keep the Warriors from ganging up on LeBron. Which basically means Love and JR Smith are the key to their series.

They are certainly good enough to do it but I don't think they will defend the Warriors as well this time around because they won't have Delly holding and tripping Curry all over the place or Mozgov in the paint like they did last season

Steph Curry upgraded from doubtful to questionable for Gm 4.

The refs have COMPLETELY lost control of the Warriors and Blazers game tonight. So many bad calls it's unreal. Both teams screaming for a moving screen call and the 2 they called tonight, one on Livingston one on Plumlee were both bad calls.

They let Aminu shove Green to get a rebound and dunk then on the other end call the exact same thing on livingston. Then he goes up for a layup gets hit in the face no call, goes nuts and the ref who missed the call calls 2 Technicals on him and throws him out. Admittedly Shaun snapped but he was completely right, he'd been hit in the face after getting 2 bad calls on him earlier in the game and he just lost it.

At least Curry is playing tonight, Portland playing really well, Thompson can't buy a shot for GSW. Kerr is going nuts on the refs the way things tend to go it'll be interesting to see if the 2nd half is reffed totally differently.
