Your definition is flawed. Some move to greener pastures and if they are still in the League they were worth a pick.

That's like saying the car I bought for 10k last year was good value because someone else is now driving around in it. Even though I ended up giving it away.

If we drafted a guy in round 4 and he didn't play for us it's not value.

The point was that the OP said that Keim only had two good picks aside from KM1. If players are still contributing in the NFL, those are good picks. We can argue that we should have resigned them, but that was the argument. I was listing all players still in the NFL that Keim picked.

Badger would be one yes.

I'd even say Evan Boehm. He was a 4th rounder and we got some mediocre miles out of him.

Golden, Gunter and Nelson too.

John Brown, Okafor, Watford, Massie, Bethel. Ellington.

Thats it I'd say. Maybe 13 players out of about 60? Not counting the last 2 classes.

@BritCard had it right, in my opinion. The used car analogy is perfect.

That's why I mentioned DJ, Mathieu, and Brown. Sure, they aren't here, but at least one year we had a great run with them as a part of it. Maybe they're alright picks.

But the other guys out there still clinging to a roster spot that did next to nothing for us and contribute nothing now aren't a good use case for Keim. His trades have been marvelous though.

I firmly disagree with that concept. If we didn't feel they were a fit and didn't retain them, they weren't worth the pick.
So if another team values a player more than the a Cardinals do, then that player wasn't worth the pick?!

I guess by that logic, DeAndre Hopkins, Chandler Jones, and a dozen or so All-Pros around the league weren' t worth their picks.

So uh, anything to report from camp or is the lack of information so boring that we are just gonna rehash Keim's draft record for the 100th time?

Seriously, I see a ton of stuff coming from other teams camps but lots of silence from ours.

Look at it this way.. the less we hear about it probably means the less intel other teams can have on us.. I know its lame but its the best Thing I can come up with.

Actually there’s a new show, Cards camp central that’s every other day on YouTube. It’s not bad

Trading a high value for a player is a lot different than cutting them or failing to offer them a second contract.

There's not many associated with the NFL that think David Johnson was an equitable player for DHop, or Jonathan Cooper for Chandler Jones. But both of those players made contributions for their teams, and I suggested that DJ, Tyrann, and Brown might have been relevant players for us.

...I also agree that the lack of info out of camp has been kinda lame. Not much to discuss.

Plus the whole point is not if the guys were NFL players, it's if they were VALUE where we picked them.

Andy Isabella is a recent prime example. He's going to be WR4 at the very best. I think Johnson might beat him out and Isabella remains a gadget player / PR but either way he was not value in the 2nd round. Maybe over time that changes but as Hopkins is here for 5 years at least and Kirk is still young at best Isabella becomes WR3 and thats not value for a 2nd round pick.

Hump is another one. He's a bottom half of the league LT. Was that worth the 24th pick? Especially when you factor in his injury history. (Man the 2015 draft class was bad overall looking back).

But the primo example would have to be Haason Reddick. Yes, he's a player in the NFL, but if you did a redraft would he go before round 4? Probably not.

Man I really miss the Fan reports from Training Camp.

From a completely selfish perspective I prefer the secrecy, but thats just because I can never go :)

But I always felt to some extent that too much information was given out by the media and fans at camp. There would always be fan video leaked and the media would give away a tonne about players, systems etc that can only help those early opponents.

I kinda like they are being much more secretive this year and that the media guys have been told what they can and can't report on.

haha he definitely heard the "no INTs" critiques
And this is a reason you give a young player that type of money. You want to pay young guys who stay healthy, keep their noses clean, and continue to prefect their game.

You pay Chandler Jones because you know he is going to grind.

Same with Fitz.

We did a similar deal with Calais Campbell in 2012. Gave huge money to a guy with questionable playmaking stats.

I joked about his hands above but that's not the issue. Its his instincts to get in position to get his hands on the ball and to some extent his willingness to go up in traffic and get it.

Which is ironic seeing his instincts in the ground game and willingness to put his body on the like are superb.

The Giants game sticks out to me. If you recall the TD by the 3rd string TE. It was practically thrown at Budda but he just watched it into the TEs hands.
