The Keesean thing is nothing more than him responding to being benched for the 2nd half of last season. In my opinion.

Yeah, because he let a 3rd down dime from Kyler bounce off his hands. He needs to be laser-focused on Special Teams if he's gonna earn a roster spot.
From where I sit, I think he is good but will have to contribute on teams.

Larry Fitzgerald
Deandre Hopkins
Christian Kirk
Andy Isabella

These top 4 seem pretty locked in. I would argue that the favorites for the last 2 or three spots are...

Trent Sherfield
Keesean Johnson
Hakeem Butler

I don't know jack about JoJo Ward, AJ Richardson, Andre Patton, and Johnnie Dixon.

Dixon has a shot as a returner.

Kliff mentioned him earlier in camp, but no word since. Might be a practice squad guy.

Jojo Ward and Patten have caught the attention of the reporters.

Yeah Cards Underground have said the Cardinals have a really group of receivers in camp. Unfortunately, I'm more interested in the RBs because the back end might get more playing time than the receivers. 3rd RBs seem to get some playing time pretty regularly when injuries strike.

I'm more confident every day that Hakeem Butler doesn't make the 53. Probably goes on the PS at best as one of the protected players.

He's been underwhelming again in camp and he doesn't play ST's.

Add into the mix that Dan Arnold is performing well and fits the role that Butler most likely would have fulfilled as 3rd down and RZ threat.

My guess would be,

Nuk
Fitz
Kirk
Isabella
Johnson
Sherfield
Ward/Dixon

Brit, you might be correct, but where did you read that Butler was underwhelming in Camp?

Nowhere. The fact that literally nobody has mentioned him speaks volumes. Especially as he is coming back off an injury and is a "new" addition to the offense. Not a single coach or media guy has brought him up once. Yet guys like JoJo Ward and Johnny Dixon are getting mentions over him. Dan Arnold is almost certainly going to take his role.

The camp talk about him last year was poor, the fact we haven't even had a token "looks better", "come back stronger" or "he's working hard" about him says it all.

I don't think u can take too seriously the voices coming out of camp nowadays with Covid 19 restrictions
I heard many times about a player having super camp and then being released or inactive at the start
Considering people doesn't have access to the facility we don't have any idea
BTW I just watched some clips of him in training camp using his lenght to make nice catches with tight coverage

I agree. I don't put any stock on media opinion regarding Dixon and Ward but nobody is talking about Butler. Not the staff and not the media, not even an attaboy. Considering he was poor in camp last year you would expect at least a "looks better than last year" comment.

And having seen him he doesn't look like he's put his time off to much use. Isabella and even Johnson have come back looking like football players. You can see they have put work in.

Butler looks like he's been playing Xbox.

Haven't heard anything about Chase Edmonds or even very much on Larry for that matter either, does that speak volumes too? Lol

Cardinals don't really have robust team based media coverage

Would be a great opportunity for hungry young sports journalist to come and provide training camp feedback steadily and parlay that into a greater opportunity.

If Butler doesn't make the roster, I don't believe they will keep 7 WRs. If Ward and Dixon were showing enough that they were gonna force the Cards to release their 4th round pick from a year ago, I believe we would be hearing more about it.Far more likely they would instead keep a player at another position.

IMO you have to keep Butler at least as a protected player. If we open him up, another team is going to grab him based on physical skills alone. I know we might have expected more form him, but he is on a cheap contract, and I'm ok with him taking a few years to develop. You watch him in college and his height, speed, and ability to break tackles made him a really great target. If he puts it together he could be a really solid WR.

Chase Edmonds is about as pedestrian of a running back as there is, so yeah it kinda does.

Larry's Larry. We know what we're getting after 17 years.

You haven't been listening them. Paul Calvisi named Edmunds as one of the 3 best in camp for him so far.

But the point is, nobody needs to mention Edmonds or Fitz, they have proved the belong.

Coaches and media guys are looking at Butler for him to show he belongs, and they are looking hard, and the fact nobody has mentioned a word about him says that he hasn't impressed anyone.

And I really want Butler to succeed. I'm a far of big rangy receivers that can dominate DB's and had high hopes for Butler. Which was I had my hands cupped round my ears listening for any little word about how he is doing and not a peep. Every receiver EXCEPT him has gotten praise. Even that JAG we signed that was with the Chargers.

Butler is a ghost.
