In the F/W/I/W category, the NFL Channel (Inside Training Camp) shows the projected starters with Josh Jones as the RT.

That body catching stuff is only going to work if he torched the guy covering him...which he can do with his speed, but its going to be rare. I don't think his is ever going to become a wes welker or juilian edleman. He is going to be like a Devin Hester type guy that has speed good enough for some big plays, but isn't a go to guy at all.

I could see him with like 25 catches on the year but 7 are for TD's. If Kingsberry tries to exploit his speed maybe even more...or if teams just forget about him while trying to cover our top 3.

Couple things,

I have seen Andy do this many times. he seems to almost box out the CB as he then uses the space to allow the ball to drop in the bucket for the catch. Not sure if it is a long term way to go but he has been successful with it in the past.

If you can remember back to last pre-season, he cause a long TD with a similar motion.

Also...... that ball was under-thrown. Andy throttled down a bit which allowed the CB to catch up in the first place.

Not sure if he will ever be the guy to jump up and attack a ball like that over a CB. My guess is that he will be catching it like that on deep balls forever. I would be more worried if it was a cross, slant or post.

Andy gets the boxing out when he played basketball. Andy was the point guard and my son, on defense was the 5. While Andy was shooting a 3, my son decided to leave the basket and box Andy out Hard. Poor Andy went flying. Ever since then, Andy hasn't been afraid of a little contact, lol.

You haven't been listening them. Paul Calvisi named Edmunds as one of the 3 best in camp for him so far.

But the point is, nobody needs to mention Edmonds or Fitz, they have proved the belong.

Coaches and media guys are looking at Butler for him to show he belongs, and they are looking hard, and the fact nobody has mentioned a word about him says that he hasn't impressed anyone.

And I really want Butler to succeed. I'm a far of big rangy receivers that can dominate DB's and had high hopes for Butler. Which was I had my hands cupped round my ears listening for any little word about how he is doing and not a peep. Every receiver EXCEPT him has gotten praise. Even that JAG we signed that was with the Chargers.

Butler is a ghost.

I definitely do not tune in to boring ass long podcasts led by team cheerleader Paul Calvisi, no. I really hate that our teams news either is A) listen to what the team is telling us or B) pay to read others opinions and pieces about us. there is no inbetween anymore.

One of Butler’s weaknesses in college were his hands.

Also, Andy got opened in that vid. That won’t happen with Hakeem.

Yes this.

Look we can all wish Butler would be what we hoped he would be when we drafted him - but he isn't. Everything indicates he is a bust, and I am betting he is getting cut in a week or so.

The Cards website is all but telling us this - in an article on the second year receivers Isabella and Johnson got multiple paragraphs, Butler got a sentence or two.

Pretty sure season is going to start with Beechum starting That is who Kliff mentioned first when asked about RT- they probably plan to move Jones in later in the season.

Cardinals don't really have robust team based media coverage

Would be a great opportunity for hungry young sports journalist to come and provide training camp feedback steadily and parlay that into a greater opportunity.
I had the impression (from a Darren U response to a reader's question) that there was was an informal agreement between journalists and the FO as to what a journalist could report on.

Correct. They are only allowing certain media into practice and those media are only being allowed to report on what the team says they can or they lose access.

Even with those requirements, the team is still holding closed practices 2x a week where no media is allowed. Today's practice would have been one of those.

I just think he at least deserves a couple of preseason games to see if he can put it together...which he didn't get last year and he didn't get this year. If that means we keep him on the practice squad protected, Im cool with that. It might take him a while to become a good practice player, but there is no doubt he was a gamer in college.

Political discussions were trashed. You can discuss the events of social unrest in P&R.

Kingsbury on last years rookie WR's in camp

“A couple of guys that were here last year as rookies that have shown up with kind of a different look in their eye, a different understanding of our offense and a different confidence level, would be KeeSean and Andy,” coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “Last year, there was a big learning curve, which obviously is for all the rookies, and this year you can tell they’re much more comfortable in the roles and have been doing a good job so far.”

As for Butler, Kingsbury said, “He’s made some strides, there’s no doubt. He had limited work last year being injured but has come in with a great attitude and made some nice catches so far. Big, fast, has a lot of potential and now it’s about fine tuning some of those mechanical things, some of the fundamentals and techniques that we want him to work on, but he’s a tough player and I’m excited to see where he kind of goes in camp.”

I don't see Butler making the 53. He singles on Johnson and Isabella for praise, what he said about Butler was coach speak for "I can't crap on him after what I just said".

It's like when you talk about your 3 kids and start with how great two are doing at university and then have to point out the 3rd is doing well at Walmart though.
