Someone on a Bobcats message board posted this comment "based on some of the phoenix comments on the article the fans love the trade and weren't too high on either player. " Ha Ha

Richardson is one of the worst defenders in the league.

Yeah but Chris, Raja's defense was terrible this season. Raja was also very very inconsistant shooting. Now we have a 2 guard that can't be any worse defensively then how Raja was playing and now you have a legit explosive SG that can average 18 per game. Not to mention he helps on the boards and gets an occasional block. How is that not a win win over Raja? I really liked Raja but he is done. For once the Suns traded a player before it was too late.

I can't emphasize enough that a huge part of this trade was getting rid of Diaw's contract. The fact that we got an explosive point guard and were able to rid ourselves of that USELESS contract is freaking amazing. Plus we got a 2010 draft pick?!?! WHAT?!?!?!?

Since when do the Suns come out ahead on a trade? Wow....just wow. IMO the Suns "might" just be relevant again in the West.

I'm glad Bell is gone. He didn't have the defense fire and knack for taking a charge like he used to the past 3 seasons. All he had was his three point shot.

I am going to miss Diaw, but to be realistic its waste of salary having him when Shaq and Amare are eating up the bulk of the minutes.

Nash has shown that he appreciates an athletic 2/3 on the court with him. J-Rich will be more productive than Marion or Quentin Richardson were on offense while adding a good three point shooting player. His defense is OKAY, but we really didnt lose anything in Bell.

I like this trade, Kerr is improving a bit in my book, I liked the Shaq trade to for the record, I hated Shawn Marion as Chris Sanders knows, deleting many of my posts or open notes to Marion about his whinning.

Kerr on KTAR right now. The deal was in the works for about 1 week. Was talked about with the Bobcats for the past 2 weeks but didn't get serious until last week.

Bench:

PG: Barbosa, Dragic
SG: Barbosa, Tucker
SF: Barnes, Dudley
PF: Amundson, Dudley
C: Lopez, Amundson

Hopefully there is another move here somewhere.

Yeah definitely need another move.

Shaq sits nights puts Lopez in the starting and our bench Center as Amundson. Not good.

Also implying that Raja had become a "distraction" (ie, malcontent) and wasn't happy with the new system.

Raja always pined for the days of Nash and the Miracles back in 2005-6. It was a glorious, fun run, but one that teetered on the edge of disaster and never really beat anyone in the playoffs worth a damn (45 and 46 win teams). I always felt like he and Marion thought so much of themselves and that "system" and the 54 wins they got that they never gave the combo of the previous team (with Amare) a fair shot. i always felt like there was a Raja/Marion v. Amare thing going on.

I'm looking forward to seeing a Nash to Richardson alley-oop.

Must be dreaming..

It just..it can't be.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

This is just great, I can't believe it.

AND WE GOT RID OF BORIS! OMFG! AHHH!

Very good trade - and I actually like Boris and Raja, but this move is good for short and long term either.

Boris is a way too expensive backup, while Raja is a good role player, Richardson is definitely a huge upgrade. Yeah our D will suffer, but it has never been good, so I'm fine with it.

The only problem is the front court depth, thats awful now. Oh, and we still need a backup PG.

Wow...exciting trade, I've been so tired of Diaw for about 2 years now that this is a blessing. Raja will be missed, but he's become what Dan Majerle used to be for us...a three-point shooting specialist only. He lost that defensive spark and has become somewhat useless to me personally.

Loving the idea of Jason Richardson...another massive scorer on this team will cause a lot of problems for opponents. And this Dudley kid sounds good.

The best part about this trade is that we FINALLY have someone other than nash that can put the ball on the floor. something we've been missing since JJ. I think thats going to help out nash enormously.

As much as I should be worried about our front court depth, I just can't bring myself to be worried.

I always felt that if I could get the chance to get just a whiff of that bombastic '04-'05 goodness of an absolutely BRUTAL starting lineup on a team with very little depth I would go for broke on it, and it looks like kerr did.

During the trade deadline we could still swing a deal anyway, there is usually some pickings to be had then.

I remember when Laker fan in L.A. wanted to murder Mitch Kupcheck for not making any big and bold moves to build around Kobe. Then he "stole" Gasol from the Grizzlies and all of a sudden, the Lakers are the top team in the west.

I'm not saying that this move is in the same echelon; however, it is nice to finally see Steve Kerr make a move that we know unequivocally is going to improve this team. We got a dynamic scorer, someone who can create his own shot (something Raja could never do) decent defender and most importantly, will be happy to be here. Anyone who has listened to the tone in Raja's voice could hear the discomfort of the new system. Hell, he's not even averaging 10 ppg anymore! I just think for what we needed Raja for, he was no longer that. His defensive skills are a distant memory it seems like. Our perimeter defense has struggled even with him at the helm. I will miss the Bell ringing every time he hits a shot, but I will gladly trade that any day for a player of J-Rich's caliber.

As for Boris. pssssssttt.......good riddance. $9 mil a year for an inconsistent back up? Paul Coro was on the Jeff Dean show wondering what Charlotte got out of this deal for taking Diaw and his overblown contract. Trust me, we are not going to miss Diaw one bit. I don't know much about Dudely, but he can't be much worse than Diaw at a fraction of the cost.

Overall, this may not be the panacea to all of our problems, but this is sure a step in the right direction. Big thumbs up to the front office for having the guts to make this deal!

GO SUNS!! We're relevant again!

EDIT: Also, we get younger!!! BONUS!!
