Better to have tried then never tried at all. Its like the guy at the bar who refuses to hit on the "10" and settles for the "5" every time. What is better occasionally going home with the 10 or bagging a bunch of fatties. Unless you are in to that sort of thing and more power to you.

You better believe the players know this is all a business, and that is exactly what happened. They are not going to feel one way or another about choice 1 or 2 as long as they guy comes in and they like what he does and does for them. The players know all about risk and will not fault Wiz or the new coach for it.

Love the analogy :D

Although I seem to land 8s pretty well (pre marriage)

Source says Horton coming to AZ Wed to sign a contract. Worked with Whiz for three years so no need for lengthy interview.

Horton last wk on AZ job: "It would be a heckuva an opportunity because they've got the pieces there. Hopefully just some fine tuning..."

Lebeau won't leave Pitt. There is nothing wrong with Horton. He has been a disciple of Lebeau's system for some time now and I'd be very comfortable with him as DC.

That photo makes you sick? :)
So what's the deal? I clicked on your avatar photo, hoping to get a larger version on your profile, but what came up was a big picture of Tim Hightower. Very dissapointing.

I'm left with just being teased....

And reports say he has the best understanding of the Zone Blitz of anyone under Dick.

What I don't get is how those dooshes can deny permission on a promotion from LB coach to DC? That's f-in stoopid especially with LeBeau returning next year. Squealers better hope Butler doesn't get hit by a bus before DB retires.

Wow. I love how we go all out to get garbage. I would rather have Billy Davis. Butler was maybe an okay second hand pick with potential. We will be 5-11 next year with no better of a defense. This is one sorry pick for a DC. Maybe we will go 0-16 and get Andrew Luck next year.

Maybe still yet we'll bring in a QB even worse than DA like Bulger and cement an 0-16 season two years in a row.

What I'm wondering is how it would be Horton so quickly? Would they even have had a chance to interview him yet? Also what about the candidate they asked to speak to from the Packers?

That was my initial thought.

This just in from JasonLacanfora on twitter:

1. More Horton: Ray Horton has an interview scheduled with the Cards. The Cowboys are pursuing him. A third team could be involved as well

I'm glad to hear that there is at least an interview scheduled before they give the guy the job.

We need a solid defense that gets turnovers as a byproduct of break don't bend defense, instead of taking high risk for turnovers to give them back to a 3 and out offense.

Considering were great at turnovers and return td's, but last in everything else NFL.

We have been looking for OLB's since Whiz has been here and went to the SB with
4-3 Dlineman Denny got. Chike and Berry. Whiz kisses frogs cause he likes the way they taste, not because any have become prince's.

What's garbage about Ray Horton?

We are getting a defensive backs coach as our big name DC. His name isn't Dom Capers or Wade Phillips or any other real DC name that anyone has heard of. How many years has this guy been a DC? What has this guy ever done to have a name for himself as a DC. I will tell you, nothing. This hire is a joke. I would just as soon hire someone from this board then hire Horton. I just hope and pray that Dallas steps in and hires him before we do.

One more thing. The one weakness that the Steelers have on defense is the defensive backs. Ask yourself this question. Have you ever even heard of this guy as a top coach before the last couple of months. I know I haven't.

I understand, but that's doesn't mean he still shouldn't have some sort of sit down with Whiz before he gets the job, IMHO. That's why I was surprised they were reporting he got the job before he even came in.

Had Horton been offered the job without an interview, then some could argue that he and Whiz talked before Pittsburgh was done playing ... and that's a no-no, right?

Well damn, I forgot Dom Capers and Wade Phillips popped out of the womb as DC and names.
