Good news Rooney rule taken care of, just hope they don't hire him.

Former Lions' and Colts' HC Jim Caldwell interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, per source. Caldwell now has interviewed with the Packers, Browns and Cardinals, and the Jets have expressed interest.

They are doing a better job of keeping things close to the vest. I expect a new HC next week.

Agreed.

Also, Caldwell wouldn't be my 1st choice for HC, but I wouldn't mind him as OC, if you're going after someone like Dan Campbell or Vic Fangio...

I think its really, really hard to interview someone for a HC gig, and then circle back and offer him a coordinator position

are there examples where this has happened in the NFL?

Russ Grimm interviewed for Head Coach same time as Whisenhunt did yet ended up OL Coach instead.

I can't give you a specific example, but I know I've read about teams interviewing under the guise of HC, so that other teams may not bring them in for OC interviews...

And I understand Kitchens being blocked by the Browns, but sometimes coaches have clauses in their contracts that allow them to interview for HC positions only...

Lastly, as in the case of Zac Taylor, teams can interview him as HC (only I believe) this week, due to playoffs...even though they may really want him as OC. I think even someone posted that Dan Campbell would want Zac as OC...Cards can now kick the tires on him because they are requesting a formal HC interview.

Hope that all makes sense...and I may be way off...the real answer could be Swanson.

Yup, he was plan B all along, in case Whis got the Pittsburgh HC gig...

fair

although Grimm had the rug pulled out from underneath him by the Steelers -- so he needed to go somewhere

Caldwell should be charging these teams for the interviews. They all semall a lot like token interviews.

Nagy and Fangio were interviewed for the Chicago job.

Fangio agreed to stay on as Nagy's D-C.

I have no issues with Caldwell. I don't think he is a good coach, but he certainly isn't a bad one. Like Marvin Lewis for the Bengals, I can see the appeal to AZ.

Fairly or unfairly, wasn't Caldwell noted for protecting Luck better than any other NFL team protected their QB? This quality alone could cause MB and SK to look up and take notice.

I truly believe that most of the hate spewing about Caldwell is that he’s quiet & very stoic.

I still think he’s underrated as a HC. The biggest drawback is his age.

Journalism isn’t mu
Twitter journalism is not really journalism. More like rumor mongering.

Journalism is not Much like the journalism I learned in college. All the head fakes by administrations to stump the reporters, less show and more go - is needed
