Anyone here live in the Cleveland area? Cbus? Did the Browns get their Thanksgiving night game broadcast locally?

I don't have NFLN at home, and I'd prefer not to spend Thanksgiving night at my Dad's...

Cleveland didn't get the Thanksgiving game. They got 5 other games televised

wait, wait, wait. We get to start on the road AGAIN AND get 3 of our first 4 on the road, AGAIN? That's complete and utter crap. Serious amounts of crap. It's freaking ridiculous the 8-ball this team gets put in schedule wise every season. In the last 20 years, only ONCE have we ever started with either a home game or 2 of our first three at home and that was the same darn year. That's ridiculous. Just ridiculous.

I agree Cheese! However this team SHOULD be at least 4-1 after those five games. Even with the road schedule. Then we have a lot of game sat home from that point on!

Cry me a river. Three of the first six are at home, and 3 of the last 4 are at home. It's a pretty favorable schedule for the Cardinals IMO, and the first five games are very winnable even for a team that has played like cr@p on the road forever.

i don't see it. I think we're gonna be in a hole just like we seemingly always are early in the season. Seriously, how the hell can the NFL schedule us... on the road... against the same team we played last year on the road... is the concept of "reciprocity" completely foreign to the NFL? It's crap. I'm pissed. 4-1, give me a break Shane. They're the Cardinals. You really think they're going to go into Washington and Giants Stadium and come out with wins? Oh well, at the worst, they should be 1-1 which means... ugh. This is a freaking joke.

Hmm... I thought the NFLN Thanksgiving game was Browns-Steelers last year...

...And I was wrong (again). Cardinal fans in Indy or Atlanta? Anyone know if a local network gets these games?

Well, the Cards should start the season 2-0, and then they have to split the Washington-NYJ weeks. I don't think that the Buffalo game is going to be as easy as many here seem to, but I think we have a better-than-even chance of pulling that one out as well.

4-1 is a reasonable expectation. This team can't afford let-downs or to be surprised by the 49ers (again!) or the Dolphins.

Everyone of those road games are VERY winnable when you look at the talent of the teams we are going to play. Especially the Jets game. The only one that scares me is @ Washington and even that one is winnable.

So yes I think it CAN happen? Will it? I dont know but Im not ghoing to panic about it in April.

who's panicking? I just think it's crap that we start with 3 of 4 on the road again. And that first five games looks like 2-3/3-2 MAX to me. They win the Niners game and it's a different ball of wax but when was the last time this team won an opening day game on the road? And anyone who looks at the Jets game as a gimme forgets that a) they're one year removed from the playoffs and b) they played incredibly tough at home last year and won't be as bad this year.

Interesting note from Whis w/r/t Sunday games followed by a Thursday.

At his presser, he said that he already had a schedule for that week. They've gone through it in Pittsburgh, and other coaches have gone through it recently.

Another note from Whis's presser and his followup interview with Bob Kemp was that they're looking into spending the whole week between Washington and New York out east. He said that he'd done it as a player, and other coaches on the staff had done it and it has been successful. He wasn't going to say that it was going to happen.

It'll be interesting to see whether that can come together. There's a lot of logistics and investment that would be required from the front office (an extra week of hotel rooms, per diem, renting practice space, etc.) for that to come together. It's not a bad sign if it doesn't happen (there are tons of moving parts for this creature to move, I'm sure), but I think that it would be a good measure of this team's commitment to success if they could pull it off.

If this team can just go 4-4 on the road we will win the NFC West, watch. We finally have the home field advantage. The early part of the schedule is going to predict what this team does. We need to be 4-2 after the Cowpies game. We can do it!!!!!

The Checker 500 is November 9th, the Cards-49ers game is November 10th.

:fans:

The traffic has been horrendous the last two times the Cards and the Checker were on the same Sunday.

3 home games in the first NINE weeks! Miami, Buffalo, and dallas? :barf: That schedule reeks.

Especially since it so much easier-and less expensive- for me to get out for the games in Sept. and Oct.

we still get bent over by the league nearly every season!!! I just do not understand. 5 of 1st 8 on the road, total BS!!! two sets of back to back road games in the east? Fu#$ing BS!!!
Two sets of back to back east games? Not unless they moved STL to the Eastern time zone and I didn't hear about it.

I'm sorry, but I see 9-7 when I see that schedule.

The Cards are going to have to grow up to be able to beat the not-top shelf teams on this schedule. Home games against San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Buffalo, and Miami should be winnable if the team can perform like professionals. But that didn't happen last season as much as it should have.

Similarly, a team with a consistent roster should be able to beat a team like the Jets or the Redskins, even on the road (it would be a great accomplishment if they beat both). Every team should win after their bye week, so this team should beat Carolina. But, again, this team put up little fight after their bye week against Tampa last year. Beating presumably weaker teams like St. Louis and San Francisco on the road is something that playoff teams ought to do.

That's nine wins if the Cards take care of business. If that happens, they won't have to worry about upsetting Seattle on the road, or the Giants, Eagles, or Pats.

Cards MUST start fast this season. A 1-3 beginning might be difficult to overcome.

I think of it this way:

in division, they can do no worse than 4-2

vs AFC East, they must go 3-1

vs NFC East, they must go no worse than 1-3

vs. NFC other, no worse than 1-1

this puts a few games in key focus:

@ SF. Win the opener for goodness sake and start the Mike Nolan death watch.

@ Jets To go 3-1 vs the AFC east means winning one road game. This one is easier than @ NE

@ Wash Decent chance to get that one win vs the NFC East

Giants Reminds me of the Pitt Superbowl team. A good team that got real hot. I think they come back down to earth.

Minnesota Another NFC team that the Cards will be fighting over a playoff spot for. Kill two birds with one stone by winning here.

Well, that's the real trick, isn't it? Even if you don't believe that Parcells can turn it around right away (I know I don't), I think the Bills are a legit team and the Jets were in the playoffs a year ago.

I totally agree with the rest of your analysis, but going 2-0 against NFC Other would give the Cards some breathing room.

Here's the way it works. If you don't have NFL Network, you will still see the game if you live in the EXACT media market of the home or visiting team. What I mean by this is that secondary markets are out of luck. So for the Cardinals-Eagles game, if you live in the Phoenix market, you don't have to worry about a thing, you'll see the game. If you live in the Tucson market, you're likely out of luck unless you go to a bar.

whew! and good. I'm pretty sure my pops doesn't have NFL Network. Man, all the women always hated it that we would watch horrible basketball that wasn't even Arizona related most of the time after dinner. Holy good God are they going to hate it when we're actually screaming at the TV after dinner. T-Day should be pretty damn hilarious this year.

That grid of primetime games is lacking Sunday night affairs. Try this grid on for size:

...............Sun.Night..Monday..Thursday..Saturday..Total
Dallas.............3........1........1.........1........6
New England........3........1........1..................5
Indianapolis.......3........1........1..................5
San Diego..........3........1........1..................5
Chicago............3........1........1..................5
Pittsburgh.........2........2........1..................5
Philadelphia.......2........2........1..................5
Cleveland..........1........3........1..................5
NY Giants..........2........1........1..................4
Green.Bay..........1........3...........................4
Seattle............2.................1..................3
Tampa Bay..........2........1...........................3
Jacksonville.......1........1........1..................3
Washington.........1........1........1..................3
Minnesota..........1........2...........................3
Denver......................2........1..................3
New Orleans.................2........1..................3
NY Jets.....................1........1..................2
Tennessee...................1........1..................2
Oakland.....................1........1..................2
Arizona.....................1........1..................2
Baltimore...................1..................1........2
Cincinnati...........................1..................1
Detroit..............................1..................1
Buffalo.....................1...........................1
Houston.....................1...........................1
Carolina....................1...........................1
San Francisco...............1...........................1
Miami...................................................0
Kansas City.............................................0
Atlanta.................................................0
St. Louis...............................................0

The sort order is total primetime games, followed by most Sunday night games, then Thursday. Note that no one gets more Sunday night exposure than Chicago.

Three out of four on the road to start the season flat out sucks. Not only will SF give us a fight in the opener, both the Skins and Jets games will be difficult. All are winnable, but we were still 2-6 on the road last year. I'll believe we're a good road team when we prove.

I absolutely love closing with Seattle at home. If the division title is still up for grabs, or a playoff spot, that place will be rocking!
