Signing bonus: $100,000
Per-game roster bonuses: Up to $170K

Do we have to honor this contract or are we allowed to negotiate our own?

The signing bonus wouldn't be part of it, but the rest would. That is the range of money we have been spending on free agents all off-season so it makes sense.
