Coleman had 5 sacks last year in 16 games and Wakefield had 3 sacks in 16 games.
There's more to playing DE than just sack stats - particularly on the left side.
- Like stopping the run.
- Like playing contain again a QB who likes to roll out to his right.
- Like not getting sucked in on wide running plays.
- Like using your hands to push up off a cut blocker in order to get your hands up to block passing lanes.
- Like reading keys properly.
- Like closing on the ball quickly.
In some cases, Marco trumps Wakefield. In other cases, Fred trumps Coleman. Let's not forget one thing, too - Coleman was cut for a reason (not an overarching reason to not sign him, but it does rack up one more check mark in the Wakefield column).
