Who is this Cahill guy?
He was good last year so.... not funny?
It wasn't a knock on Robbie. If you can't see the humor in the guys were spending close to 300 million on not getting a win before Ray, then I apologize
I agree. I just wish he wouldn't pitch with his tongue out. That image doesn't really put fear into the batters. And I'd be afraid to see him react to a comebacker with his tongue between his teeth.RR pitched well but he needs to keep the walks down and thus keep his PC down. I see a lot of potential there.
Maybe it's because I'm out of town and not exposed to the local market hype machine, but I'm not sure where all of these expectations are coming from. Predicting 95+ wins and such.
Aside from Grienke, we don't have any reliable SP, the BP was going to be an issue going into the season, and the offense was likely to regress in production from last years career years. That was BEFORE losing AJP for likely the season.
On the other hand, Segura has proven to be a terrific signing!!
I signed up for season tickets last October as I loved where the team was heading. I'm not a numbers guy, but to the eye I liked what I was seeing. I also couldn't look away from all the rings sitting in the front office. They don't play the game, but all our decision makers know how to win.
As for starting pitching, we've replaced Chase Anderson & Jeremy Hellickson with Greinke & Miller, and I'm of the opinion Corby will be in the Cy Young discussion this season. I'll take Clippard, Hudson, and Ziegler all day long to close things out. Sucks losing AJ, but I really believe Peralta is the real deal, and Segura may turn out to be the pick up of the year. Defense wins championships as they say, and last night it was defense that finally loosened up the gripping so to speak. Ahmed is a beauty to watch at SS.
I predicted 93, and gave Vegas a few sheckles betting on over 81.5 wins.
For some reason I feel like the season has officially started now. The Dbacks were clearly wound tight as a drum, even in this game. Just not the loose group that they need to be. I think there was just a ton of expectations and hype and then it starts bad and you kinda get that feeling... Tonight might be just what the Dr. ordered. A big win against a good team at home, and it was a great baseball game. The high scoring ones are great once in a while, but there is something about winning a game like this that builds a teams confidence.
Are they paying this clown by runs given up?
Greinke looked like his old self after the first inning. Ended up with 8 k's in 6 innings.... I think he may have finally found it after that first inning.
Like Ruby coming out of the pen.
We had 4 hits...two by Drury. Won't win any games with that type of pathetic offense..
Well, don't you think it's telling that Vegas has a line of 81.5?
I mean, fans are gonna think what they will, but it just surprises me is all.
I'm not a gambler so I couldn't begin to tell you how Vegas works, but if I remember right there weren't many that much higher, and they had the AZ Cardinals over-under at 6 or 7 this last season.
Good news is the bullpen was solid last night again. I sit on the 3rd base side and had to do a double take when I saw De LaRosa come in from the bullpen. It will be interesting to see if he ends up there this season, as many think he's best suited in that role. Bradley had a solid start first time out in Reno as well.
