At some point Green's psychological tinkering is going to wear real thin on this team.

You're right. It sure has been a crappy technique for guys like Parcells and Belicheck. I think a real coach would have the guys group hugging and butt slapping and give talks about "One Heartbeat".

Winning is all that matters. It'll only wear thin if we are not successful.

Parcells made his number one pick last year his personal water boy.

Parcells has won championships and raised THREE teams from the absolute dead - there is no comparing what Bill Parcells does and what DG does and to say as much just shows how much of a K-State fan you really are.

Oh yeah I would too. I wish DG was a terrible coach. I wish DG won the SB in his first year with the Vikings and then lost every game after that. I wish the Vikings never win a game again ever as long as they win 1 SB. The problem is life doesn't work like that. Life doesn't operate in hindsight.

Thanks. I didn't realize that life doesn't operate in hindsight. I'll sleep better tonight.

Parcells did those things before he ever won a Super Bowl. Green is NOT in Parcells class -- no way. But, I'd rather see him use that sort of style than the staff we just saw leave.

You don't get my point at all what a shock. BTW I am a fan of ND which has the most championships in college football.

I'm on board with Green, and I think he'll do wonders for this team. There's just going to be some growing pains is all.

For the Cardinals, "growing pains" would be light years of improvement from the "constant pain" that continually hounds this franchise.

Right you are, Ken.

When can we expect to see Swann?

Our below average RB just got benched for an over the hill RB. Big deal!
Bingo.

DG has been using motivational tactics by "naming" starters and "proclaiming" that Shipp would have X number of yards or that Freddie Jones will be in the pro bowl.

But at the end of the day, he'll do what it takes to win.

And since there are nothing but fluff stories coming out of OTA's we don't know if Shipp is unable to pick up DG's protection schemes or something like that.

Again, it's Marcell Shipp, who would be #3 on most depth charts in the NFL. Neither Shipp nor an aged Emmitt would be DG's first choice. And while Emmitt may have slowed down considerably, he still knows a thing or two about playing football.

For any number of reasons, there is no need to have a 8 page thread on this.

I'm not saying Emmitt is better than Shipp.

I'm just curious why Shipp is championed by a lot of people on this board when he hasn't really done anything to deserve it.

I mean really, it's not like Boldin just got benched. Our below average RB just got benched for an over the hill RB. Big deal!

Because doing so hurt the team last year and I think could hurt the team this year.

If Emmitt had gone to minicamp and taken Shipp's job ON THE FIELD, I'd be fine with it, but if he did, every story I've read is wrong because most say he was barely seen ON THE FIELD.

Emmitt was better last year in a 3 wide set, but most of that was teams ignoring the run because we were behind and passing.

I'll wait and see but last year this proved to be a terrible decision.

Don't compare last year to this year the coach last year didn't have the record of success in the NFL that this year's coach has.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Shipp is not a guy that you want as a catch it out of the backfield kind of guy. He's a grind it and spin like a top guy.

I think DG will go very much in the direction of screen passes to the RBs and delays, because the WR core will get a lot of respect. Emmitt isn't done, by any stretch.

I will put full faith in what DG does...he is the coach and he has proven himself on offense many, many times.

Shipp averaged 11 YPC 2 years ago, he earned his PT as a guy catching balls out of the backfield.

He's not fast but neither is Emmitt. If this is all about pass blocking I have to ask why we're planning on throwing the ball so much with a young QB?

IF this were any coach but DG we'd all be blaming this on Bidwill as a PR move, so at least we all apparently think DG is making this decision.

but YOU said it was an embarrassment to have the guy on the field?

Talk about hypocrisy, it was a dumb move until DG made it and suddenly it's a good move, do you have no mind of your own?

I fully realize DG is a better Offensive mind than Jerry Sullivan was, but teams are still going to come out in 8 man lines and make Josh prove he can beat them and I personally feel Shipp can run better against that defense than Emmitt can, we all saw that last year with our own eyes. The bad perception of Shipp is all based on last year too, he didn't hire Sullivan as OC.

You're supposed to put your best players on the field I am not convinced Smith is better than Shipp.

Definately not better at hitting the gaps. I went to the opener against Detroit last year.......the hole was closed and the light was out before Emmitt ever got back to the line. Shipp has an aggresive hard burst to the line, and if there is a hole there...he is through it. Emmitt is a dancer.

KDUS reported that the reason why Smith was elevated was because he's better suited for Green's system and better at hitting the gaps.....

You are taking my quote out of context. I thought he should have retired. I think he is done. Today's date is June 17. Do you think Wakefield is the best LDE and Harris the best FS? Hey I could be wrong it has happened.
I do know DG has been talking about E Smith's professionalism and Wakefield's hustle.

Bordow wrote it about a week ago and when that hit this board people who are watching the camp basically said they wouldn't be surprised if Emmitt lost the #2 spot to Scobey.

FYI here's Emmitt from the Bordow article.

“There's no need for me to be bitter or angry or be upset or totally disappointed,” Smith said Wednesday. “I don't allow my ego or my pride to get in the way of what happens. Yeah, I got an ego. I do have pride, but my pride and ego are not about the job decisions I have to make. I understand what the team needs and what the team requires and Marcel Shipp is definitely the guy to do it."

So again it sure looks like this came out of left field.

So when is the first game again, next Sunday?

Why the hell announce a starting lineup that he says is the starters going into camp, in other words the incumbents who will start unless their job is taken, and include a guy who 10 days ago was openly saying he wasn't the starter, didn't deserve to be the starter, and was fine with that?

What did this guy do in the last 10 days while apparently barely touching the ball in OTA's?
