I don't think the money was a big consideration for Gabbert at this point. I don't know the details of his contract, or what other opportunities he had, but I heard that Seattle was interested, for one. Gabs wants to be a starter in the league, and has no doubt that he is one of the top 32 QBs on the planet. Arizona offers the best opportunity for that without going to a dysfunctional situation and starting a few games until some rookie is ready, or until the team decides to tank and use a high draft pick on a college QB. He's made close to $20m in the NFL and he's just 27. His girlfriend/wife is an investment banker and they're not high livers, so I imagine he could live quite comfortably with plenty of money left over to pass on to his heirs some day. It's about pride and dignity.
