Going to Lindley doesn't look so stupid right now

This is exactly what I expected to happen. If Ryan Lindley ever guides us to the playoffs, I'll get his face tattooed on my face.

He's another Derek Anderson or John Skelton. Big arm, tall, athletic, strong and horribly inaccurate. 3 out of his 4 interceptions were god awful decisions. I understand he is a rookie, but the second pick 6 looked just like the first one. I'm sure he's worth developing, probably more so than Skelton (I think Skelton is as good as he'll ever get), but we still have to get someone that can actually be a starter in this league.

LOL. Can we put this tread in the Hall of Fame? Is there a waiting period?

Russ, have you decided whether or not you've seen enough of Ryan Lindley to know if he can fill the important role of #3 QB in 2013? I mean, he's got to fill the shoes of Richard Bartel and Brian St. Pierre and John Skelton.

We were doing so well with Skelton at QB too.

Look we're not going to the playoffs, weren't with Skelton.

Why not see your #3 QB and see if he's worth keeping?

Whoever is the coach next year now has a much better feel for Lindley.

We already know Skelton sucks, why play him?

To win the game.

This team is the worst team in the history of the universe at everything, including getting a good draft pick, we NEVER have the first draft pick we ALWAYS screw that up even though we have historically and consistently sucked for decades, this is a feat in itself.

Winning games is about all we have, oh and we know all we ever need to know about Lindley now.

Skelton gives us a better chance to win than Lindley; Lindley is playin himself out of the NFL. Any new coaches would get 2013 training camp, OTAs, an all if 2012 practice film to get a feel for Lindley's awfulness.

It was never a smart idea to inflict this garbage on the fan base.

A better feel for Lindley? That's why we are a joke. Only the Cardinals would actually think that they would need to get a "feel" for Lindley, as if there is some sort of shot that he is the answer. What a disgrace. I am shocked, stunned, that anyone would think that Ryan Lindley could be the guy.

Is Skelton the guy? Long term, no. If you wanted to win the last three weeks, yes. We didn't need Elway to win, we just needed a chance. Lindley gave us no chance whatsoever. The Cardinals have hit historical lows in offensive production against the Falcons and Jets. Skelton has won games. I feel winning wasn't even a priority the last three weeks and I am not sure why anyone is ok with that.

This.

Russ, you're my man, but even if you type until your blue in the face, you'll never convince me that we wouldn't have beaten ATL and NY with Skelton at QB.

We should be 6-6. The reason we're not is because Whiz pulled #19 for a guy that makes DA look like Troy Aikman.

I had some "worst case scenarios" in mind for this season, but things have unfolded in an even more humiliating manner then I could have ever anticipated.

Coach Mac is somewhere saying "damn, that team is horrible". LOL!

That was awful...it actually makes the venom tossed at him from last game ok. He didn't deserve it last game, but this time he looked completely lost, like he'd never read a playbook.

That was flat out awful.

I think we'd have a good chance of winning today if Skelton had been the QB but I don't think we'd have beat Atlanta with Skelton. The momentum had turned and it's unlikely that Atlanta wouldn't have done what they've done in just about every game this season, score just enough points to beat their opponent. I don't think we were going to hold them under the 13 points we had scored and it didn't look like we were going to be able to move the ball with John back there.

Sir, you make your point eloquently, but I still say that, all other things remaining equal, if you substitute an "average" Skelton performance for the rookie's ATL performance, I think we win the game by 10 points, maybe more.

However, I won't belabor the point, and accept your conclusion that #19 would not have been successful against the dirty birds.

It really makes you wonder how a guy who has played QB in High School and 3 years in College could throw so horribly?

Well, admittedly it is no more than an opinion on my part. But, I do think there was at least reason to believe we'd have lost that game if we'd stayed with Skelton and that Whiz had reason to make the move. I can see an argument that it was the wrong move (especially since we lost the game) but I just don't see how you fault a Head Coach for trying to make something happen. We were stuck in neutral and that final pass that missed Fitz by 10 plus yards might have scared any coach into making a QB switch.

I won't disagree. Like you said, it's a "what if" type question.

Agreed this thread will be legendary. That is the worst QB performance I can recall.

Whiz flails, the QB's know this, they know if they have a bad game or two they're done.

I'm not defending Skelton, I didn't pick him to be on the roster and Kolb is hurt, all he has to do is the sane thing and go with Skelton.

Now is not the time to send some rookie kid out there and detonate his confidence, now is the time to suck it up and support a guy you said was the guy, then let him be the guy, it's ok if he sucks and you lose like that, at least people will respect you some for staying behind someone for a full season when it's required cause the number one guy is hurt.

Finding out what we have in Lindley?

Dear God if he didn't already know that then maybe that's HIS PROBLEM!

Wasn't obvious to even the most casual fan that Skelton, while ineffective at times, clearly gave us a better chance to win than Lindley?

Wasn't the season still in the balance, even up through today's game?

That's what makes KW's decision so damnable.

Think context.

Dude is precisely the worst fit for our porous OL and lack of a running game. He was unloading early out of (perceived) desperation.

Put him behind a good OL and decent play action and maybe he's not so bad.

Given our OL, Skelton (because of his height and size ) probably gives us the best chance of winning, but obviously, he's not consistently good all the time either
