good at WHAT? Helping us out defensively - you know - our biggest area of concern?
I don't think so.

cheesebeef said:that's great an all - but isn't this team deficient in DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING? Again - another guy who loves playing O, but apparently not D - sounds like a big white stiff, who shot will get packed repeatedly by Duncan on the Offensive end.
cheesebeef said:label me a racist or whatever you want - but if this team take a Big White Stiff I will throw up. Nothing like a Big White to help cement your already porous defense!
cepstrum said:It boggles my mind that you can ***** about him without seeing him play (as stated in your earlier post). Go watch some game film and form your own opinion based on his play and not on the fact that he is white.
Have you seen him play? He was a career underachiver who was constantly overshadowed during his entire tenure in Gainseville by Matt Walsh, Anthony Roberson, and Matt Bonner on decent Florida squads.cepstrum said:It boggles my mind that you can ***** about him without seeing him play (as stated in your earlier post). corrado said:It never ceases to amaze me that people can continue to sterotype players based on black or white without taking the time to view some tape of the player in question.
I'm the first one to admit that at Florida he didn't live up to his advanced billing but time and time again that has happened with players who had more success in the NBA style of play then the style of play they were forced to play in college.
Just for someone to remark that if he was that good how is he going to be there at 21 is an indication that the person hasn't really followed the dynamics of this particular draft.
The Suns want someone who can run the court well, play physical get some rebounds and play sound fundamental defense and at 21 I think this guy can to do. He spent 4 years at Florida and therefore has some good experience.
I don't know for sure if the Suns are serious about this guy. All I know is that he fits what I think they are looking for in a PF and he had a very good workout in Phoenix.
so if you are going off what other people are saying and they say he can play D why do you leave that part out?corrado said:-Will have a much better career in the NBA than in college. Has very good athletic ability, great footwork, can run the floor, can rebound and play defense. Needs to improve his perimeter game but this guy has played himself into the first round.
Also unlike most players who had real good workouts (including his workout with the Suns) was willing to put it all on the line going to the Chicago camp where most guys would have rested on their laurels.
cheesebeef said:personally - I think some people also tend to completely overrated white guys - evidenced by ideas like "Vroman will be a contributor to this team!" "I can't believe they won't give Big Jake time!" "How the hell can they get rid of Lampe!" Do you know how RIDICULOUS those statements were and still are?
People want to believe in the big white stiff - maybe a kind of reverse racism - the belief in the Great White Hope - personally, I don't buy it - I have to see it on the NBA level to believe it.

cheesebeef said:It's not a stereotype if it's true. Sometimes the truth hurts - especially to us White Guys - but it's still the truth.
corrado said:Yea, I guess your right. There will never ever be a good white power player in the NBA.
cheesebeef said:can you show me a couple playing in the NBA right now? It would go a long way in shutting me up and helping your argument.
MaoTosiFanClub said:I can't go that far and say a white power player will never play a key role on a title contender. The Kings were definitely a contender a few years ago with Vlade as their center. The Bulls had all those white centers in the 90s and won championships.
