Cousins is clearly better than Alex Smith, but for the money Cousins is going to want vs what Smith will receive makes Smith a more viable option. I like Cousins...I had him on my fantasy team and he has some great games, but against good teams, he often comes up short. He's more of a garbage time stats padder than he is a winner...which is awesome for fantasy, but not for top 5 QB money.

This thread proves it's official silly season. Cousins is a better QB than the others on the market, the only question is whether he merits the cap space he'll demand. He's better than Keenum or Bradford and IMO he's better than Alex Smith by a comfortable margin. Worth the price? Depends on the price, but every year we debate a QB's worth. The fact is, a middling QB gets paid better than the best pass rusher or WR in the league. Someone will pay them, I'd personally rather pay a little more and get a decent/good one like Cousins than go the cheap route and pay $15-$17M and end up with Glennon, Osweiler, or whatever other bargain QB you feel like talking yourself into after watching the highlight reels his mom posted on YouTube. Which is exactly what we'll do if we end up signing Tyrod, Bradford, or some other re-tread. Why? Because we're suckers who need something to hope for.

Alex smith is a good qb but not a winner, same could be said about carson palmer, who just got a playoff win in his career

They are stop gap qb's but if we want to get to the next step we need to find our own young qb

Im ok signing Bradford cause he wont ask too much at this point of his career and he could accept the back uplo mk lo role, just to give the franchise the time to grow the qb we must draft in the first round
Make me sick reading post with mock drafts still ignoring the qb position
The risky no biscuits mentality should be used on draft day as well, no stand at your spot waiting for the qb u like falling to you
Thats what we experienced last season

Yeah, they'll be sorrry if they sign Cousins. Costs too much, and doesn't have the protection here.

Do things the right way. Build the fronts. Develop ur young gun. Cousins gets you first round exit AT BEST.

Tyrod Taylor could indeed be interesting for us. Won't break the bank. Especially if paired with Lamar Jackson. Similar skillset: great speed and mobility, strong arm. Jackson is a much better passer coming from a pro scheme compared to Taylor at Virginia Tech. Could sit a year behind a vet that has the same traits. Taylor evolved into a legit starting NFL QB behind Flacco, which is amazing considering where he came from. Not saying he is a franchise QB, but there are much worse starting QBs out there. Taylor protects the football as well as anyone. He has the arm to take some risks though. Having no weapons, especially this season, hurt Taylor. Also they were happy to pound the rock with Shady McCoy in cold conditions. I think Tyrod at 2/3 of Cousin's price tag, less guarantees and a shorter contract could be a solid game manager with our offense running through DJ, our defense being a top unit and improved special teams. Not turning the ball over can win you most games. Of course Cousins is the better QB and I'd like to have him. But if we can get our hands on a bright QB prospect like Jackson, I like Taylor more. In this case Bevell as OC would be a solid choice because he has coached a mobile QB for years.

All for Kirk if the money isn't insane. Big if obviously... I want to see how he does away from the pressure cooker that is D.C. and a front office/coaching staff that publicly disrespects him.

yeah... he may be willing to work cheaper than people think. Could be he just wants out of DC and they are gonna have to pay out the nose to make him stay.

$29mil per for the skins

$24mil per for anyone else kinda thing.

still aint my first choice though, lol.

Apparently he drives a beat up Volkswagen so maybe it's not all about the money and more so just refusing to sign an extension so he can leave.

I hope they get Cousins, that way the 1st round could be used on WR or Oline. Any other free agent QB and they almost have to go QB in round 1.

I would take Alex Smith over Cousins all day, My only fear is... Will Smith revert back to captain checkdown if he doesn't have Mahomes riding his nutz?

In what possible way is Jackson better than Mayfield? Running yes. Anything that has to do with QBing no.
There's also the part where Jackson has a legit NFL arm and Mayfield's is borderline.

Bridgewater can best be described as Spaghetti:

He has the arm of a wet noodle.

He has the frame of a dry piece of spaghetti

He throws up meatballs for the opposing team

That ranks as one of the dumbest posts ever posted here.Bridgewater has a average arm and is a solid QB.

Be cool to have Brock and Nick Foles compete for QB against a rookie. To Arizona college QB’s - both need the right system and run game

The more I think about things, the more I would embrace a Cousins signing. I don't think the Cards will have quite enough cap space to do that and shore up other areas of need though.

Quite the conundrum.

Having a legit NFL arm & being able to be accurate with it are two different things. So you would take Jackson's 50% completion percentage over Mayfields 70%? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Just yesterday Mayock was saying that Mayfields arm strength is stronger than expected and shouldn’t be any problem???

Hell no Cousins isn`t worth the money.Pretty stats but can`t win the big game.Cards can find a game manager QB and develop a draft pick QBOF.

Once again and i will tell you slowly.....Louisville doesn` use the dink and dunk chickenshit offense.Petrino put the ball downfield.Jackson rarely threw screen passes or dumpoffs .It makes a hell of a difference.Jackson`s completion percventage increased every year and that was in a vertical offense .

Jackson's completion % on intermediate throws is awful. And pretty sure Jackson has the worst completion % out of any QB that has ran Petrino's offense.

Totally agree. Watched some games of both and have seen highlight reels of both. Prefer Jackson and it isn't even close. Mayfield always looks like he's throwing his arm out just to complete simple passes. Jackson can air it out and has a smooth throwing motion.

The Browns T Joe Thomas is urging the team to sign Kirk Cousins. They have the cash and possibly the urgency.

I get it.You don`t like Lamar Jackson.Kid has plus arm.Plus athletic ability.Great character.Hard worker.I know he is still a work in progress to be NFL ready .So are all the rest of the QBs in the draft.Mayfield will be Terry Beban version 2.

I like both Lamar & Baker a lot. Give me both over Allen & Rudolph, easily.
