Is there a reason why we don't fire Kliff today?

It's noticeable that Kliff isn't in the QB meetings as shown on Hard Knocks. We don't see the offensive team meetings like we see Vance talk to the defensive players, either.

I wouldn't expect him in the QB meetings but yeah, I hadn't thought about the offensive meetings. In fact, I don't recall Kliff and Kyler on screen together once outside a game.

We all want our 4th year starter to have more control of the offense. I'm sure Kliff would love it. He's not refusing him because he wants to. The article states that him going off script has caused problems and clearly Kliff doesn't trust him. Wasn't the game losing play vs Green Bay an audible that didn't work?

Control is earned, not given. And Kyler hasn't earned it. He should focus on learning to read defenses and going through progressions before he starts altering things at the line.
Maybe its a Weinfuss problem, but what is off script?

I like Kliff, but he was hired mostly because Mahomes went off script a lot.

Kyler doesnt look good in that article either. However, just on that point I still dont see the problem. McCoy has been on script and it aint pretty either. Kyler improvising (i.e running around) is part of the package they signed up for.

And Brit you're sounding a bit outdated with that take. Once he stacked a couple Pro Bowls and they gave him that contract he's going to want more say when things go wrong.

Overall, I think both know this to be the truth. And they've come up with the wrong answers to solve the problem. But this is the root of the problem.

"We're not built to run Kliff's offense right now, and it kills him," the source said.

Oline sucks. They cant run the ball, which makes the short passing game predictable and making them incapable to throw over the top.

ANother thing I'll say, I may have said it at the time, but that first game against the Rams when Kyler was out I thought Kliff looked relieved. Watching him on Hard Knocks he looked almost joyous in comparison to what we have seen recently.

The problem I have with the "We can't run the offense" or "The offense sucks" takes is that it's the 4th year of the offense. And those Pro Bowls and that extension, and indeed a winning record at the start of this season all came from this offense.

I can believe it doesn't work right now due to injuries because we can't run the ball due to decimated interior O line, but normally I don't think it's a problem.

I thought the quote on Kugler was interesting. I said yesterday that our run game used to be good and it made Kenyon Drake look great but since Kugler took over it's sucked. He took over last year and since last year it's been garbage.

4.7 YPA the last year Kliff ran it down to 4.2 last year and 4.3 this year. So it was interesting that Kliff wanted to fire him and Mike blocked it according to this article.

I wonder if Kliff jumped on the excuse in Mexico without feeding it up the chain?

Im not in the camp of saying its Kliff or Kyler's fault tbh. Although they share blame cause well they are the QB and play caller.

You lose Chase Edmonds, no DHop for 6 weeks and an Oline with 2 guys ready to retire its a totally different vibe and flow to the offense.

And now because of that both QB and Coach are colliding over something that maybe could have been avoided. Im in favor of Kliff staying cause I think the offense can work there just has to be work done with the roster.

The ready to retire thing doesn't hold water for me. You don't decide to play and then phone it in. Those O line guys are like a military unit. They pull their weight for each other.

We just got unlucky with injuries.

The big issue of course is that the biggest issue is probably Kyler but he's the one thing we can't do anything about. So Kliff will likely end up paying the price anyway.

I dont see Kyler as the problem. I just dont see him as the solution either. He's not the kind of player that wins regardless of what.

He's likely in the Dak Prescott, Kirk Cousins category. Now those teams did change coaches in the past few years. However, I'd argue they've been better recently (their teams) because of the rosters they've built.

Basically if Keim is still here then its all for not.

Reading the article Kliff comes off the best.

Mike is refusing to fire people and handcuffing Kliff. Kyler has a nearly toxic negative attitude and is turning up late for meetings. Keim has been absent and difficult to Kliff to get hold of.

The only real criticism of Kliff in there is that he's too nice to players.

Amazing that an article sourced to Kliff Kingsbury in a felt mustache paints him in the best light.

The guy has failed everywhere and now he's gone to ESPN blaming ownership, quarterback, GM, offensive line coach, etc.

He's gotten Hopkins, Ertz, Brown, Moore, Isabella, Murray all with significant draft capital. Can't design a coherent offense that works at the NFL level, and now is complaining anonymously about the ****** hand he's been delt.

And somehow Kyler is the whiner.

I imagine he looked at it like this.

I have Trace McSorley at QB. I might not get within spitting distance of the EZ again. I'll go for 2 while I have a chance and hope the D can do something to turn the game with Rypien at QB.

Which is probably the correct way.
This week yes, earlier in the season, no

That's all there is to it? We just got unlucky and no one could have foreseen any problems or done anything about it? Keim did a perfectly "fine" job assembling our OL this season? I just want to be clear that this is your take.

Kliff is incompetent and Kyler is a whiner who has stunk this season. They are both true.

Kliff was given a Ferrari, but drives it like a scooter. Kyler, also, has all the tools to succeed, but clearly doesn't want to put in the work and thinks it's everyone else's fault. It's a recipe for disaster, either way.

Nice little quote from the article.

"But Murray was late to a practice prior to the Week 14 meeting with the Patriots, a team source said, adding to Kingsbury's frustration with the quarterback."

What QB is late to practice?
There wasn’t a study clause in his contract for no reason. Murray’s lack of commitment to game prep is unfortunate
