Tell me about it: this is the first time in awhile that I feel like we actually got the better end of a deal. I think Arians, so far, is a bigger hardass when it comes to contracts than last years regime. Granted part of that is because the environment is different.

Arians has a shopping list, he's not negotiating or setting contracts, that falls to Keim and Licht.

Wow! That's highway robbery

They are poker stars

It's O line all the way in the draft

Palmer won't handle taking 15 hits a game...especially with Levi Brown at LT.

Levi is the LT get used to it

GM Steve Keim's 1st trade successful one: Starting QB for nothing. if it doesn't work, do it all again next year.

NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH THIS !?!

But, in all seriousness. I feel like this is Kevin Kolb part II.

Carson Palmer is better then Kevin Kolb no doubt.

The similar feeling is that the move is certainly not "great", but more of a situation where it "needed to be done".

Anyway, I think it is a good move, but I am cautiously optimistic. Last time I thought a QB was good for a system he got sacked twice in the endzone in consecutive offensive plays.

We will see, but Palmer's got my support and hope.

I like this acquisition at a reasonable cost coupled with the upgraded coaching staff, the improved running back situation, and hopefully a productive draft. Carson Palmer is the best we've had in four years, so at least the receiver corps can be utilized and Larry Fitzgerald can catch 100 balls. That alone will make Cardinal football watchable IMO.

A sixth round pick this year and a conditional 7th in 2014

Still a great deal for the Cards.

Kuddos to MB for trusting / allowing Arians / FO to put their team together after the Kolb debacle. Lots of $$ out the door over the last couple seasons.

I'm betting they draft one in round 2 or 3 and dump Lindley.

I think they dump Lindley and keep Hoyer unless Matt Scott drops to the 4th or 5th round.

I doubt very much the Cardinals will draft a QB.

Maybe a UDFA ? That is possible.

I agree. With Palmer and Stanton here and with Ryan Lindley as the developmental project there is no need to force a pick. Grab a safety, pass rusher, cornerback.

I can't believe Keim and company didn't have to part with a 2013 draft pick. :)

Lindley ?

Why develop Lindley when Brian Hoyer is on the roster, and beat him out last year ? Keep Hoyer, and draft a prospect next year.

Lindley is completely overwhelmed in the NFL, and has shown that he cannot handle it, IMO.

THAT IS HOW A FRONT OFFICE SHOULD DEAL, conditional 7 and this year's sixth when we have two of them for a starting caliber QB...DAMN SKIPPY. And I do believe we will still be drafting a young QB in the mid rounds and it will be a good situation and not a fire alarm drill for the young dude :)

+1.

They kind of "had" to do it, IMO.

Not saying it is not a good deal, and a good move, but they needed to do something.

I mean Drew Stanton is great and all, but if you can do better .... :D

$2M for a number three QB? Don't think so.

They'll try to flip him for a sixth or seventh before the draft.

That is the second of our 2 sixth round picks. We keep #174.

Now we can focus on drafting Tavon Austin with our first pick. If he made Geno a rock star in College, I'm sure he can do the same for Palmer in Az.

Boo - yeah!!

Love the move...first exciting move this off-season for me.

I think Hoyer has trade value and don't believe they will keep 3 QB's with that much salary. Hoyer gets traded and Lindley is #3.

A little high ?

Sure, but if you are under the cap, you are under the cap.

After last year ? I have no problem keeping depth at QB. Remember, our offensive line is the EXACT SAME unit as it stands right now.

We are going to need some depth at the position.

Yup, I don't see us needing another 6th rounder.

Hoyer becomes trade bait and they draft a QB in the 5th or 6th round. In addition they bring in at least one UDFA QB

For clarity

Cards get CP and a 2014 7th round pick for a 2013 6th rounder and a conditional 2014 7th rounder?

They sign CP for 2 years at $16m with $4m in incentives with $10m guaranteed?

Is that correct?

If so very good job GMSK
