I can see I'm in the minority on this one, but that is just how I feel. Watching Marbury play basketball was a miserable experience. He made his teams worse, much worse, all while being self aggrandizing, proclaiming himself elite, focusing on his own numbers... and eventually dramatically improving his team by getting himself ran out of town on a rail. It happened 4 different times in his career. It was not coincidence.

You're a little further to the extreme than I am but you're not alone. I disliked Marbury the player quite a bit. I already disliked him before he came to the Valley from the fact he walked away from a perfect situation in Minnesota just so he'd be the big name. He and Garnett should have been a great duo to build around. But he was a perfect example of a player more concerned with his own numbers than his team's results.

Marbury had a conscience and tried to be a positive influence socially but he undercut his own efforts with his self-aggrandizing behavior on and near the court (IMO). It's a little bit much to say I hated him but I was thrilled when we traded him (it didn't hurt that we got rid of Penny in that same deal).

Yeah, I was a Marbury fan when he was here. He played hard, took responsibility that one time he did that stupid thing, and he loved it here. He wasn't a perfect player, but he was a great teammate when he was here.

Morris is easily my most-hated former (God, it feels so good to say that) Sun.

Record with Suns:

2001-02: 36-46
2002-03: 44-38
Traded 47 Games into 2003-04: 29-53 Full tank job after the trade.

They got better because of Nash and D's offense...Obviously Nash is/was better than Marbury, but hating on him is ridiculous.

An offense that Marbury refused to subscribe to (twice, he did it in NY too). And the Suns were not the only team to immediately and drastically improve after dumping him. Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix and even New York all saw significant increases in their winning percentage after Marbury's departure. Why? Because he dominated the ball to an insane extent... but without making his team's offense any good, and he blew on defense, essentially sabotaging his team on both ends.

I hated watching him play. If you didn't, fine, we're going to disagree on this one, but you're not going to win me over. IMO he was a selfish, stupid, cancer.

Where did you read this? I've been looking everywhere for this info.

Paul Coro column on the trade:

Just before the Thursday deadline hit, the Suns agreed to a trade that sends Morris to the Washington Wizards for a draft pick that would stay with the Wizards if it is in the draft's top nine. Washington currently has the NBA’s 12th-worst record but is only three games out of playoff position at 23-28. The top-nine protection would remain through the 2021 draft.

I loved Marbury here, he loved it here also and it hurt him when he was traded.

He always played his heart out

Time to move on. Any more cancers to unload? This Gm sure knows how to hold and fold them cards.

Finally the cancer is gone and the suns got a good pick in return hopefully suns make a good selection in the draft to go along side booker and Warren

Man rebuilding mode sucks hope the suns turn it around soon

Not me, I'd rather see probably 2 more years of looking up at the league from the absolute bottom.

No. Because the bellyaching about being the worst franchise in the league and ownership and management would be just intolerable. The thing about tanking is that you really should only have to do it once or twice.

I'm with you on this but I'm not sure that Sarver has learned that you cannot rush rebuilding - and he may well not keep McD longer than one more year, so Ryan would be forced to rush, too. I'm not even sure that McD isn't still believing in his and Jeff's original plan and will try to go with Bled and Knight as dual point guards. We all seem to believe Booker and a real PG is an obvious move but nothing he's said or done really indicates that is his thinking.
Lets face it, one starter grade player from the draft and we're about as good as last year so he'd again believe we can make the playoffs - and we probably could if Bled and BK stayed healthy all year. That would be about the ceiling for that team but he might not care.

Need to trade Knight this summer and be bad for another season IMO. Superstars rarely hit the market. Gotta build a winner thru the draft and saavy FA signings.

As highlighted in the All Star activities, and his development in the starting lineup prior to that, Devin Booker has arrived at the first step of stardom.

What owner or General Manager in his right mind wouldn't want to capitalize on that? In addition to what Booker contributes on the court, the team needs an intelligent, talented player such as he to develop into the face of the franchise.

Not only that, but Booker's progress as a legitimate 6'6" Shooting Guard helps Sarver and McDonough save face in abandoning their concept of two injured Guards who are neither facilitators nor shooters.

If they demote Booker, the team might as well start looking for apartments in Seattle, because Suns fans will further abandon them.

Ideally, both of the undersized, untalented Shooting Guards trying to run the Point should disappear. Either of them pretending to be a Point Guard will hurt the performance of a youngster (Booker) or veteran (Chandler) until they have their next injuries. That is not the way to build a winning team. Just as we haven't been building a winning team.

I would actually like to see what Bledsoe can do with a traditional lineup before I'd send him packing. I want to see Bledsoe with Booker and Warren at 2 and 3. On the other hand, it might be wise to trade him before he gets injured again. He seems to have a surgery on one of his knees every other year, so next season is probably a good time to trade him.

Same. I had the same initial thought that you had as well, I think if healthy him and Booker could form a dominant backcourt but I don't know if I want to risk it with his health issues and end up having a Derrick Rose type situation.

LOL, we're not going to get rid of Bledsoe so that Chandler can have better performances. That's ridiculous.
