Good, intelligent deal for Phoenix.
Protected pick trading needs to go away forever, but i understand why they exist.

I will so miss keeping up with the court dates... not.
I can see I'm in the minority on this one, but that is just how I feel. Watching Marbury play basketball was a miserable experience. He made his teams worse, much worse, all while being self aggrandizing, proclaiming himself elite, focusing on his own numbers... and eventually dramatically improving his team by getting himself ran out of town on a rail. It happened 4 different times in his career. It was not coincidence.
So what if the pick is in the Top 9? What does PHX get then? Two second rounders?
No, goes into the 2017 draft, pos 1 to 9 again protected.
Record with Suns:
2001-02: 36-46
2002-03: 44-38
Traded 47 Games into 2003-04: 29-53 Full tank job after the trade.
They got better because of Nash and D's offense...Obviously Nash is/was better than Marbury, but hating on him is ridiculous.
Where did you read this? I've been looking everywhere for this info.
Paul Coro column on the trade:
Just before the Thursday deadline hit, the Suns agreed to a trade that sends Morris to the Washington Wizards for a draft pick that would stay with the Wizards if it is in the draft's top nine. Washington currently has the NBA’s 12th-worst record but is only three games out of playoff position at 23-28. The top-nine protection would remain through the 2021 draft.
Finally the cancer is gone and the suns got a good pick in return hopefully suns make a good selection in the draft to go along side booker and Warren
Man rebuilding mode sucks hope the suns turn it around soon
Not me, I'd rather see probably 2 more years of looking up at the league from the absolute bottom.

As highlighted in the All Star activities, and his development in the starting lineup prior to that, Devin Booker has arrived at the first step of stardom.I'm not even sure that McD isn't still believing in his and Jeff's original plan and will try to go with Bled and Knight as dual point guards. We all seem to believe Booker and a real PG is an obvious move but nothing he's said or done really indicates that is his thinking.
I would actually like to see what Bledsoe can do with a traditional lineup before I'd send him packing. I want to see Bledsoe with Booker and Warren at 2 and 3. On the other hand, it might be wise to trade him before he gets injured again. He seems to have a surgery on one of his knees every other year, so next season is probably a good time to trade him.
April Foolishness Day!

What owner or General Manager in his right mind wouldn't want to capitalize on that? In addition to what Booker contributes on the court, the team needs an intelligent, talented player such as he to develop into the face of the franchise.
Not only that, but Booker's progress as a legitimate 6'6" Shooting Guard helps Sarver and McDonough save face in abandoning their concept of two injured Guards who are neither facilitators nor shooters.
If they demote Booker, the team might as well start looking for apartments in Seattle, because Suns fans will further abandon them.
Ideally, both of the undersized, untalented Shooting Guards trying to run the Point should disappear. Either of them pretending to be a Point Guard will hurt the performance of a youngster (Booker) or veteran (Chandler) until they have their next injuries. That is not the way to build a winning team. Just as we haven't been building a winning team.
