I'm still baffled that some of us think that his size will limit him to ordinary status. Murray is anything but ordinary. His size will not have any impact whatsoever on his career. He will have a great NFL career & we will be sick if we don't pick him.

His height is a real issue, the game plan is designed to work around it at OU. I watched those 3 hours of Murray and his height is ABSOLUTELY something that he needs his legs to help him succeed.

Brees, Wilson and Mayfield all have methods designed to minimize the impact of their height, and have coaches that work with them to do this. It is a real issue. Murray, with the wrong coach, will be miserable really quickly in the NFL.

Also if you aren't understanding what Dr. Jones is saying about Wins Against Replacement (WAR)

The most dominant defensive player last year was worth 2 wins (Aaron Donald)

The most dominant QB last year was worth 8 wins (Patrick Mahomes)

BTW, you want to talk red flags, here are some:

https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/josh-rosen/

Josh's rankings last year:

28th in air yards
25th in pass attempt distance
23rd in money throws
19th in interceptable passes
16 in danger plays (where QB took unnecessary risks)
30 in expected pass TDs
36 in adjusted yards per attempt
36 in true completion percentage
36 in Play action passes
51(!!) in Red Zone completion
30 in Deep Ball percentage
22 in Pressured Completion Percentage
36 in Production Premium
35 in True Passer Rating
34 in Accuracy Rating

Not a single advanced stat above league average. Not a one.
PREACH!

Great post

First you tell me there was nobody under 200 pounds who was a 20 carry back, now you tell me I only listed 2

Well OK I will list a few more who have had more than 20 carries under 200 pounds - but you will probably tell me they don't matter because they aren't current players.

Barry Sanders
Tiki Barber
Clinton Portis
Thurman Thomas

I will admit I was incorrect claiming there were tons that had 20 carry averages - but there are tons of backs that have played under 200 pounds over the years.
Don’t forget Stump Mitchell & Joe Morris lol

I am not saying his size will make him ordinary. I said at his size to succeed he will have to be great or he will not succeed at all... there's no average career on his horizon

I understand your point. I just feel strongly that his athleticism & freaky talent eliminates the size issue. I don't believe that size will have any bearing on whether he's successful. In addition to his athletic skills, the kid has an enormous QB IQ. He's a keep Jetstream.

Murray is closer to Kevin Harts height than Josh Rosen's. Just sayin. I question his commitment to football as well.

Really. So now you want to compare Murray to Tebow?

That’s actually not that far off. In their Heisman seasons, both had 50+ TDs(ground + air), 68% completion, and we’re dual-threat QBs.

You really need to watch that game (he lost BTW), there is a good video showing every single snap he took. He was bad, 3 really good throws but a lot more poor ones.

Zeno, he had 425 yards of offense out of his short little puny body. And he supposedly played poorly. So if he played well, then he might have accounted for 600 yards. I still want that guy who's capable of extreme greatness.

Sanders was 200, Barber 205, Portis 215, Thomas 205

Not in the first couple years they played.

Portis got 1500 yds his rookie year at 190.

I did not just pull 4 names out of a hat.

Yes, but they played in entirely different systems. Tebow had a huge heart, but had nowhere near the arm or the accuracy that Murray has. Nor was Tebow elusive like Murray is. Tebow was a product of a system, Murray is a much more gifted athlete. Tebow still took an average team to the playoffs & beat the Steelers. For that, I'll always like him. Even in a baseball uniform, he's still better than many QB's that have played for the Cardinals over the years.

Considering their accuracy numbers were similar in college, that's just false, and Lincoln Reilly has his own system. Obviously, we don't have an NFL baseline for Murray yet, but he's not going to have the benefit of having receivers wide open on every play, so it's very possible he throws for < 55% in the pros.

When a guy shoots up the draft boards post-combine instead of during the season, it's cause for hesitation. When a guy does it without doing any drills and merely taking measurements; measurements which put him as inferior to everyone else at his position; and still shoots up the boards: Buyer beware. This guy is the definition of a hype train right now.

Yes, I did watch that game. Murray played poorly (by his standards) in the 1st quarter. Alabama had him on the ropes & that game could have been really ugly. To Murray's credit, he didn't roll over and die. If OU's defense had made 1 or 2 more stops, Murray had them right back in that game. Once he was on a roll, Bama struggled to stop him. It wasn't his best game, but you can't deny how impressive it is to accumulate 425 yards in roughly 3 quarters.

Watch the game without the hero worship and an open mind. His throws were bad, aside from 3 that were great. He started rolling up yards when Alabama was ahead and stopped playing a high pressure defense.

Dude, did you watch Murray play in an actual game this year?? He was as dominant a QB as there ever has been at the collegiate level. He was always regarded as the best player in college football this season. Buyer beware???????

Did Alabama stop coming after him in the 2nd quarter??? I don't think so. They were down 28 & cut the margin by 11 numerous times. One more stop & it was a one score game. If Alabama stopped playing a high pressure defense, it was because Murray & OU figured it out & was burning it.

Ok, if you say so, obviously you think he is the greatest college football player ever. I don’t and nor am I convinced he will be a successful NFL QB and nothing he has done or said during the draft process has made me think otherwise.

You can’t watch him and see his flaws, you can’t be objective so arguing with you is pointless.

I am sorry but I don't understand how ANY of you who claim to watch the NFL think that this literal dwarf is a franchsie QB.

He literally has a dwarf head and dwarf arms. Come on.
