Likewise. I wouldn't have offered any more than 3mil per and if Amare leaving was a forgone conclusion I would have just let him walk.

Also there really isn't much in the way of 2011 FA outside Melo, 2012 may be a better option.

There may not even be a season in 2011 (in fact, the odds are good that there will not be). THAT is why you see all this free agency/trade activity.

Byron Scott will be named head coach of the Cavs soon. Good news for Cavs fans.

Doubtful a lockout would last the entire season but if that is the case then 2012 could be a huge FA year with Paul, Anthony and Deron.

Yup, Alot of the players are opting out so that they can get their last big payday before the next cba's rules come into effect.

Thats why you see guys like Richard Jefferson (who otherwise would not have opted out after the awful season he had) opting out

Apparently he was talked into opting out by the Spurs under the agreement they would reward him with a back loaded contract since they want to get out of tax range. Doubt he'd have done it otherwise.

Gambo: Suns have upped the offer to Channing Frye to 5 years and $25 million --he would be nuts not to jump at this!!!!!

Suns got to know Stoudemire is gone.

too much. thought $4M/year was the ceiling i'd do on frye. this is a mistake.

A factor to consider with Frye, he is only 27 years old and is 6'11." The Suns need young frontline players. Yes I do choke about the 25 M but I think this is the market. The Suns cannot afford to lose both Frye and Amare.

if they lose amare, then they SHOULD lose frye. because they should start rebuilding and frye shouldn't be a part of that.

I think the offer for Frye is fair. He's a decent mid-level big man. I think he will get offered more.

Minny just gave Darko 20m

Reality and slinslin don't exactly fit together a lot of the time.

Seems to me based on predictions you are not the one who can judge that.

Reality is what the Suns dont understand. They won't compete again until they rebuild the roster.

Exactly. Committing to long term deals for specialist role players is what you do if you're in contention.

If the Suns are offering Frye this contract now it means they didn't waive their exceptions so they have no cap space.

The Suns can renounce Frye and/or their MLE at any time before signing him or using it.

If Amare walks for nothing all the Suns will have is their BAE and vet min.

All the Suns were going to have was MLE money anyway, or a few dollars more. If Stoudemire leaves, Frye's value to the Suns goes up. I think $25M/5yr is too much for Frye, but not because of what it does to their cap space. They don't have much anyway.

For what frye does for OUR team he is absolutley worth 5 million a year. that is PEANUTS and would/will be very tradeable if we ever decide to rebuild.

I suppose I would too. However, if I am a GM, I want no part of either. Too pillowy soft.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to pay either that kind of money. But I don't think Darko is soft, mentally weak maybe but he plays physical and is actually fairly skilled.

It doesn't mention anything about deadlines, and usually his language is pretty thorough.

Yeah I looked it up after I read your post and didn't find anything specific. Still against keeping Frye unless Amare stays, and even then I wouldn't want him at the rumored contract.

I'll be here all week.

Seriously, Darko has improved his game. He has back to the basket moves and can use either hand pretty well. The easy thing to do is talk about Darko during his Detroit days, but he's become a pretty good player.
