I'd love to see Dantoni succeed and I'd love to see Nash get a ring but my dream scenario would be for them to hire Phil and then go on a 60 game losing streak. More than anything, I want that extra lottery pick.

Steve

Yep. Lets see. Howards back acts up and Gasol tweaks an ankle. Kobe decides to do it all himself on creaky knees and forces Nash to be a jumpshooter. That might do it.

Oh and btw. I dont want Nash to ever get a ring, ever. If he cant get it with the Suns, I dont want him to get it at all, and expecially not as a Laker. It would make me sick to see Nash holding up that trophy wearing Laker purple and gold. Yuck. It would be like your ex-wife inheriting a $10 million from her rich uncle and buying her new husband a Ferrari.

Except in this case you divorced your wife because you thought she was getting too old and you already had your eye on someone much younger. I think that's a closer analogy :)

as long as the new one can afford a ferrari, im good

Well, blast it all. Lakers are 2-0 since firing Brown. Most of the time, in the NBA, a coach's primary job is to motivate the troops and get out of the way. When he starts getting too cute with his special offense, he just prevents winning.

All the coach on that team needs to do is make substitutions and make sure Nash gets the ball.

I'd just consider DA a patch this season for the Lakers until they find a long term solution unless he surprises in a big way. As I have said before, DA's contract is pocket change for the Lakers. The Lakers want to make a title run this season and IMO, DA is the best chance for a quick fix.

Pau is in no man's land with DAntoni. Its obvious that DAntoni views him very similarly to Kurt Thomas. There is just no place for a midrange jumpshooter in DAntonti's system. He wants a big man at the rim, a penatrating ball moving pg, and the rest shooters and slashers (with the emphasis on shooting).

Odd. I thought it would be MWP first. But as long as he shamelessly hurls up threes, he will be fine.

I think D'Antoni loves big men with a jumper, but he does not love having 2 interior players on the court at the same time. Not good for the spacing of his offense, especially if they are slow in transition. I think with Nash that Gasol would thrive. That would be an ideal pick partner for him.

I think Dantoni knows he needs another guy to spread the court and Pau is the best option to acquire one. Not because he doesn't think the guy can play in his offense, just that he's a luxury with Howard there and the best trading chip they have to get the outside/in 4 he's wanting. If he had a young healthy Amare already on this roster, I'm sure he'd be thrilled to have Gasol backing up Dwight.

If the lakers can somehow parlay pau's rotting corpse for a go to spread 4, like they were able to get the best center in the league for a guy with no knees, then... I guess it'll be biz as usual for the lakers.

Well. OK. If they insist. We'll give them Frye and Beasley for Gasol.

Bargnani? I'm not sure what the Lakers could offer as sweeteners, but rumor is that the Raptors are open to moving him. Might have to be a three-way. Who would want Gasol and could ship a bunch of picks to Toronto?

Raptors should just include Fields. Gets them an upgrade and they get out of the committed money a year early.

At this point it might be best for the Lakers to trade Nash.
