I would be unbelievably happy if half of this turned out to be true.
Davis is an upgrade over Lutui.
Put him next to Keith and that's a wall of wide, fast human.

Lawson's productive and knows the division.

Jones is a perfect replacement for Breaston.

Tulloch is a wonderful starter and ILB would be silly deep.

P L E A S E let it be true!!

Kent Somers also tweeted about Manny Lawson. That would be a solid, solid sign for the Cards. I am not buying the reason why they have been quiet. If that's the case why would they announce Jeff King and nothing else?

Jeff King announced it via twitter. The Cards have said nothing

Jones has a propensity to drop balls at inopportune times. He's a decent player but I would rather have Breaston.

There's no reason to be overly skeptical - the team HAS TO spend almost fifty million just to get to the salary FLOOR - but I think it's important to recognize that Jurecki's comments about all of the players except Lawson sound very speculative.

Why would we let Breaston walk and hand big money to a guy with crappy hands? That rumor in particular makes no sense to me. Andre Roberts is their new golden child.

Stevie dropped 8 passes last year (most was 3 against OAK).
Jones dropped 6 (had 2 against WAS and NYG 1 in the SB).

Sounds like a bunch of bunk to me. Let's see what happens tomorrow. You've convinced yourselves that they've "secretly" signed a bunch of guys and I think that press conference is going to be a big disappointment.

I think it needs to be made clear exactly what MJ stated.

Cardinals have not announced anything not because they want to wait for a big press conference, or because they are keeping things secret, or something like that, they have not announced anything becuase they are not allowed to under the rules.

Per a memo from the league offices, that he had right in front of his face, teams are not allowed to officially announce any signings of RFA's, EFA's, their own UFA's, another teams UFA's, or trades until 3pm tomorrow. The only thing they are allowed to officially announce are UDFA's and rookie signings.

The only reason we may be hearing about deals as we speak is because of loose lipped agents leaking something or a player tweeted it.

Also MJ only stated that we have signed other guys fans do not know about. He only mentioned Lawson as a guy we were negotiating with, he also mentioned Big calling coach, mentioned that he knows Davin Joseph wants to possibly play here and had his agent call us. He only mentioned Jones and Tulloch as guys he likes, but he usually doesn't keep bringing up a guys name unless he knows we are interested.

So lets be clear, we cannot announce any deals until 3 pm tomorrow per league rules, he knows we have signed more then fans realize only knowing who we have contact he doesnt know who has been signed, and he mentioned some names we have been in contact with.

IF the rumor is true, along with the rumored players involved, I would be ecstatic.

Lawson seems like the most likely, since he was mentioned by both Jurecki and Somers. Not only would we improve at the OLB position, his signing would probably spell the end of Joey Porter's time here. Win/win. Tulloch is a dream scenario. The man is a tackling machine. Jones would be our first legitimate speed receiver in years. If a replacement for DRC is included, this will be the most active, and likely best, Cardinal offseason I can remember.

Of course, there's a good chance none of it will happen, so I'll try to keep my expectations down.

If Big was an upgrade over Lutui, he'd still have a job in Dallas!

Sure.

The guy can play the position. He is very powerful, but not too quick.

He would be no worse than Deuce Lutui that is for sure.[/QUOTE]

Sorry... but, BIG is lousy at pass protection.

agreed. can we really not keep ANY of our own FAs? everything else in this thread would be welcome news, but don't AGAIN replace an up and coming player at a position of need with an over the hill suspect former Pro-Bowler.

This...

I think the only one I am expecting tomorrow would be Lawson.. Simply because of Jureki's comments and Somers tweets, it just seems like that is the guy they have hinted at the most..

But the bottom line people again, they have 45 million to spend.. We will get more than a couple legit guys, the question is who and when..

I'm not so sure... he was due 6 million or something ridiculous like that...

He was cut because of salary and them wanting to make sure they nailed down Free...

I am not sure I would guarentee it an upgrade but at the very least it is a lateral move..

With all the hate that has been spewed at Leonard Davis on this board the last few years it would be hysterical to see him come back and start and kick butt.

Except for the fact the Cowboys were over the cap and Davis was overpaid. He is still a good guard, better than we have. There are many reasons guys get cut.

I watched him last season get beat time after time...

Every time I see this it just helps confirm my suspicion that the Cardinals do not want more than a handful of 2nd contract players. They want rookie contracts and older guys they can sign short term.

I think they have a real aversion to big dollar long term contracts. What do we have 3 guys on the team with those? Fitz, Wilson and Dockett? I don't know where Rhodes deal is. Did AZ just take over his old deal?

I try not to follow the Cowboys as best as possible. Was Big playing LG or RG for them.

If he was playing LG then wouldn't we think he would play LG here as well, thus Lutui comparison would be moot since it wouldn't be Lutui he would be replacing.

We are talking about, would he be an upgrade over Faneca or current LG on the depth chart, Hadnot?
