It sounds like Banks and Jackson are having a their way on offense.

Now the end of the first -- Suns give up 38 in the quarter (38 to 26 N.O.)
Losing the rebound battle 8 to 13; and shot only 2 FTs versus 10 for N.O.

D'antoni upset with the B team in right now: Hill, Diaw, Banks, LB, and Skinner. Banks seems to be scoring ok, but only Nash has any assists. Banks has also picked up 3 fouls already.

We are shooting 50% and we are down by 16?

Damn, we're trailing by 20 against NOH.

*Scratch that. The lead has dwindled down to a comfortable 3.

Suns down by 3 at the half. Order somewhat restored. Marion put up 12/16 at halftime. Marks and Banks shooting well again.

Halftime. Nash with 10 assists and a 3. Hill 3 assists, a 3, and 3-3 from the line.

Suns are giving up too many offensive rebounds (11 after 3 quarters). Marion has 18 defensive rebounds, but the rest of team only 9, five of which were pulled down by Hill. The Hornets also have a huge edge in free throw attempts. Suns surrender another 30-point quarter. Down by 9 going into the final period.

nba.com says Bell has played 36 minutes so far. I surely hope that's not the case. If so, what is D'Antoni doing? Tucker didn't have a great first game but he deserves more time than this in the preseason.

The preseason minutes statistics are rarely accurate. Yahoo has Bell at 28 min.

It sounds like Banks and Strawberry are really playing well, especially Banks. I'm really liking what I'm hearing about them and Marks as well.

This unit with Banks, Strawberry, Tucker, Diaw and Marks is playing very well against a team with some starters (Paul and Chandler). It's good that they're making it work without Nash.

I'm liking the sound of a halfcourt trap with DJ and Banks.

Edit: Banks with a three and a steal!

Suns lose, but a lot of positives from this game. It looks like D'Antoni likes Marks a lot more than Skinner. Perhaps Marks will be the more everyday bench player and Skinner will be used against bigger teams.

Suns lose but we played our bench the entire 4th. Some late turnovers and poor shots doomed us. Banks finished with 14 points, Marks with 14/7/3, Marion 18/20, Hill 12/6/3.

A loss, but really refreshing to hear Marks, Banks, Strawberry getting minutes and showing flashes of brilliance once in a while.

It was a pretty sloppy & foul ridden game for the Suns. Diaw picked up 3 fouls in about 1 and 1/2 minutes. The Suns actually led 14-6 in the 1st and then got outscored 32-12 to close the qtr. The Suns really had no answer for the size of Tyson Chandler, Hilton Armstrong, David West & even Melvin Ely looked decent at times against us.

There were some positives though:

Grant Hill - Didn't shoot great tonight overall, but nailed about 6 3ptrs in a row from the corner in pre-game warmups. He also made some nice passes & drives to the basket during the game. He should've had at least 4 more ft attempts, but the Suns weren't getting the calls.

Marion - Still can't hit an outside shot, but made some nice cuts to the basket & finished. Grabbed a ton of rebounds, mostly because no other Suns were really going for them.

Nash - Picked his spots to look for his shot and beat Chris Paul off the dribble repeatedly to get layups. Showed flashes of his amazing passing ability and ability to nail the 3ptr.

Marks - The only guy that did a decent job against Chandler, but still makes too many mistakes defensively. He has a pure 18-20ft jumper, but he probably shoots it more than he should. Defenses are backing off of him and daring him to shoot. He had a sweet dunk off of a Nash assist & could've had 3 more if he was strong enough to finish the plays when he got fouled.

Banks - Still can't run an offense & tried to take over the game at the end by taking a lot of bad shots, but actually played decently most of the game and played solid defense. He can contribute this year, but the offense stagnates when Nash is out of the game (even with Diaw & Hill out there).

DJ Strawberry - He had some very impressive plays for a rookie. He's very quick to get out on the fast break and finishes strong going to the basket. He is very aggressive defensively and gets around picks very well. He tries to draw charges a little too often and the refs aren't giving him the calls yet. The offense ran through him at times in the 4th qtr.

LB - Didn't have a great game tonight, he forced some shots and didn't have a lot of success going to the basket. Still can't run the offense either.

Skinner - Barely played and didn't play well when he was in there. Chandler & Armstrong went right at him and basically had a tip drill around the hoop while Skinner & Diaw just watched. On one play, they tipped the ball 4 times before finally getting the basket and Skinner never got involved.

Diaw - I didn't see much difference between Diaw last season & tonights Diaw.

Bell - All out hustle defensively & shot the ball pretty well. Was the only Sun back on two 4-on-1 fast breaks by the Hornets.

Tucker - Only came in in the 4th qtr and got a fast break attempt immediately, but got fouled and couldn't finish. Blew a 4-on-1 fast break for the Suns by slowing the ball down and letting the defense catch up. He played solid defense, but looked lost on offense and has a flat shot.

Doug Thomas - DNP, but the guy does some slam dunk contest quality jams before the game & at halftime.

The Suns played very small most of the game and often had lineups of 3 PGs & 2 SF's in the game. For example, Nash LB Banks Marion & Diaw or LB Banks DJ Hill & Marks. The best part of the game was watching our rookies & end of the bench guys get the mount a comeback & get the lead against the Hornets starters (Paul, Chandler & West were still playing).

One aspect that I am pleased with with this game is that the guys managed to comeback from 20 down with our bench, even if they may have ultimately cost us the game. Boom Boom may be back to some of his tentative play, but it is one game so hopefully it's either an aberration or he'll have to work into more aggressive play throughout the season. What kills me about him is that he has sooo much potential. Come on Boom Boom!!!

Suns vs. Jazz

Slow start by both teams, but the Suns picked it up. It sounds like we are playing good D. Marks with a block, Suns with 4 steals early. LB having a much better night.

The Suns started off slowly but then went on a quick run and started playing pretty well. They're getting their hands on a lot of balls and getting in the passing lanes.
