I don't hate the Pugh contract TBH. 16th highest avg dollars per year of every OG is fairly accurate IMO.

Agreed. I don't get the Pugh hate from some. He's solid, reliable and his contract is average as you say.

If they can convince both to take half, I'd sign it in a heartbeat. They have to hope that Fitz will take a big discount, (he has given some discounts, but not recently) or retire. It would be catastrophic for the franchise if he were to play for another team.

I said that Fitz wasn't worth the $11M he got this year and got a lot of pushback on here. Next year I wouldn't pay Fitz more than $4M take it or leave it. If another team is willing to spend more than that on a 38 year old WR then have at it.

That is because it is like facing your own mortality. He has been the face of our franchise for at least a decade. Going to be hard to watch him go, when/however he does.

We all have to remember that Chandler Jones will not be a 20 mil cap hit next year. 10 at most and 5 mil is dead space at the least. He will want an extension and we will want to give him one. Both sides are motivated.
I am a little concerned that Jones decline pre injury is a sign of things to come. Seems like a risk to spend $20M on him or extend him. Wonder what the trade market for him would be?

I struggle with the thought process of the year after almost breaking the sack record that he is now washed up

I think we'll see some creative cap work this off season from all teams. Bigger upfront money to keep cap hits low next year. Players will love bigger bonus money too. Cards got lots to spend in 2022, so it makes sense to push money toward then, especially if they truly want to make a run at the Lombardi.
