If indeed the GS trade goes down, it's highly doubtful Wallace ever sees a moment as a Sun, even if healthy. He'd just take away minutes from the young guys we are trying to develop.

I doubted from the moment his name was mentioned as one possibly coming in a Shaq deal that he'd ever spend a second on the court as a Phoenix Sun, regardless of this deal going down or not.

Currry is coming + Biedrins is the best defensive big man Nash's ever had.

Oh good lord. If that is the case this team is really in trouble in the front court.

If the deal does go down, our roster will stand at 13, and that's not counting our free agents, our second-round rookie, and the players coming over from Cleveland. This is also assuming that the deal involves Belinelli, Biedrins, Curry and Wright, but not Azubuike. Tucker seems to be the odd man out, unless we make more trades to free up roster spots. I am assuming the Suns won't even bother trying to retain Barnes, but what about Grant Hill?

We are going to have a roster full of young players, with Nash the only veteran (assuming we keep him, and certainly we have to keep some veterans). I think the Suns should make an attempt at re-signing Hill just so we have another high-character vet to mentor the young players. With all the money we save by trading Shaq and buying out Big Ben and the other guy, money should not be an issue here. Grant Hill should be given the option to return if he chooses to.

I totally agree. I haven't heard squat about Grant Hill's future yet. I've heard several references to him as a Sun and he even referred to himself as a player for the Suns vs a free agent when he guest hosted on the Mike & Mike show a couple of weeks ago. However I have yet to hear anything official on his return.

Grant Hill's work ethic, character, and leadership is essential to developing all of the young talent this team appears to be acquiring. Plus, I believe he still has a lot left in the tank.

As far as the roster spots go, with Curry on board wouldn't Dragic be the odd man out? How many (point) guards do we need?

13? Right now we have 11 including Amare under contract. Cut Pavlovic and buy out Wallace, we're at 9. Trade Amare that's 8, bring 4 back and we're at 12. If we sign Hill we're at the minimum. I think this is correct. What am I missing? Ah the rookies... add them and it's 15. Looks like Griffin will have a tough time making this team if the trade happens.

Kerr talked in the press conference introducing Earl Clark about giving Grant a call on July 1st, as soon as teams are allowed to contact him. He's their highest free agent priority.

Grant is UFA, so they aren't allowed to talk shop with him until July 1st under league rules.

I figure unless he wants to go to Orlando for a title shot, he has a lot of reasons to resign with the Suns. Likes the Valley...the trainers have rejuvenated his career...etc.

With the Shaq trade & the probable Amare trade, I just don't see why Grant would really want to come back to basically a rebuilding team. Sure, our trainers have helped him get healthy and play his 1st full season in a decade, but he only has a few good years left and if I were him then I'd want a chance at a title. That's probably not gonna happen here in the next 2-3 years with Sarver & Kerr calling the shots.

From the Warriors board I frequent:

Nellie said Stephen Curry ain’t going anywhere. Curry was, to the Warriors, the second-best player in the draft behind Blake Griffin, so they aren’t parting with him.

Nellie: “No, I should be clear about that. He wasn’t drafted for somebody else. He is not going to be traded. He was drafted because we think he is going to be a terrific player, and he’s going to be right here. So he can unpack his bags, he can relax, go buy a house because he ain’t goin’ any place.”

Nellie also said that Curry will be the point guard. He said Curry is the best thing he’s seen since Steve Nash and that he thinks he will make a great point guard.

Nellie: “He’s a heck of a player. We drafted him because we think he’s going to be a great point guard. Maybe not his first year. It takes a while for point guards to mature and feel comfortable. I always saw Steve Nash in him, and he is the greatest player I’ve ever coached,” Nelson said. “I’ve been looking for another one for a long time and this is as close as I’ve ever seen in a young player. He has that same ability that Steve had. Shooting, passing, knowledge, just the natural things he’s done that he’s worked on his whole life.”

Check out his response when asked if Monta and Curry can co-exist.

Nellie: “That’ll be fine. Monta still has to work on his point guard skills as well and his passing skills. That was part of his program to get better at. This guy already has that. Monta has some work to do in that area but they’ll be fine together.”

After all that coddling and plotting based on Monta Ellis being the point guard, Nellie said Monta will (eventually) move to shooting guard and Jackson to small forward.
Remember, Monta has been deemed the point guard since late last season. They were so dialed into this Monta-at-point experiment that they traded away Jamal Crawford and flew to see Monta and “get on the same page” with him. Now, they may be back to the Baron days.

Nellie: “Yes, Jack is going back to 3. I emailed him that today, that ‘I moved you to 2 and you’re back to 3.’ We like Morrow very much, too, as a player in the backcourt. Jack said, ‘Wherever you want me, that’s where I’ll be.’”

Not to play armchair psychologist here, but I don't think that all superstar players suffer from Gary Payton itis. Grant's been injured for most of his career, and only with the Suns' training staff has he been able to be healthy and play full seasons. Maybe just playing, mentoring the young guys, and keeping his family in place is more important to him than winning a title.

And Steve Kerr said that Amare wasn't being shopped, and Shaq wouldn't be dealt unless Phoenix received basketball value. These guys lie through their teeth; it's part of the job description.

I guess the Suns should have gotten something in writing. Prepare for a desperation reactionary move.

Is it possible to have "reverse" protection on a pick? We don't receive the pick until it is top 6.

Looks like the trade isn't going to go down. Dang it.

At least I hope it doesn't since it's not going to include Curry.

Wow robert sarver gets made an ass out of again. First isaiah and the knicks force him to give up nate robinson when that wasn't part of the deal, now they have a deal in place and gs just tells him to screw off.

Ultimately Q gets traded for Darko Milicic which I consider an improvement for NY. It was Nate Robinson the Suns had to give up along with Q for KT. Some GMs turn lemons into lemonade and other GMs just eat the lemons. It comes full circle. The Suns lost out on trading Q and also lose out on trading KT. One could write a book.

Well here's one where Biedrins dunks on Amare lol. I'm all in for this deal. Amare=all talk and no D.

It's funny on that vid that Nash, who was trying to draw a charge, took the space from Amare and forced the latter to jump farther away from Biedrin for a block attempt in failure. Nash "assisted" inadvertantly on that dunk of Biedrins. ;)
