My wammie bar went tits up yesterday...

Also, I want Spacelord by Monster Magnet NOW!!!

I have a Gibson GHII guitar and the whammy bar is much harder to use than the Strat. It's a shame too. I'll have to get GHIII and the Les Paul to see if that helps any.

Ugh.

Most of the songs are covers so just change it to "I drink from you boobies"....

Should be good to go then!
:lmao: (they could just go with "teet" :D)

Seriously, though a cover would suck. :nono:

I don't think most kids know what a 'teet' is so that be good. Scratch that, you'll just have to explain it to the curious lil' buggers...

I don't know... whoever is doing the songs are pretty good at getting it to sound like the real deal. If I had a band I would want a song on 'Rock Band' and I would perform the song for Harmonix. I have picked up several CD's due to GH II (not so much Rock band though)...

I've become disenchanted since we downloaded the awful, awful cover of the Monkees' "Last Train to Clarksville"

I'll agree most of the others have been pretty darn good.

I still enjoy the downloads because I like the song. I wish they didn't have to use cover bands but sometimes they do. Whenever the Rock Band developers use cover bands it's because either the Masters no longer exist or because of legal reason they could not use the Masters. They have to have access to the Masters to use the original band.

If it's a great song, I would rather have it as a cover then not at all.

Some master tracks cannot be duplicated correctly with the drum set that we have available as well.

I read in EGM that it is mostly that if the band recorded the song as a band, they cant do it. They need each instrument recorded on its own track.

Those are the masters. They have to have the Masters and not a mix. If they have the Masters then they can use those separate tracks to do their magic for the instruments.

Problem is that sometimes the Masters no longer exist. Other times its because the original recording label is dead and the rights are strung out between so many parties that obtaining the rights to use the masters is difficult.

When all else fails..they use a cover band.

I've seen people do this.
It doesn't make me want to sell my musician gear and buy a video game setup...
I'm amused when I see a kid skating down the street with one of those "guitars".

I don't think they are trying to convince you to sell your music gear or convert you. It's a game first and foremost. It's a way to get gamers and some non-gamers a way to interact in a "band like" atmosphere through a game.

Anybody that take this game anymore serious then that or knocks it because it's not like the real thing is missing the point.

PS. Does anybody know when the standalone guitars are going to be made available? On the Dashboard of the 360 it's advertising the Rock Band Guitar for $59.99. However, I checked Best Buy and they were like..huh??

the guitars are this tuesday I believe, not wireless yet

I found that EBGames/Gamestop advertising them now on their website. They do say Wireless though. Hopefully, that means they hit this week.

On the subject of returns / replacements:

Well, my whammy bar on my Fender broke three days ago - the spring that puts the bar back in place must have broke (now it's limp and a pain to whammy), so I called EA - had to go through the phone system, but finally ended up taking to a real live person (there were no options regarding whammy bars).

Short story (too late) - they'll send me a box, I put the guitar in the box and send it back to them, and they replace it - no muss no fuss. That's good.

When my Fender broke, I figured that I'd better get a backup guitar, so I decided to get the Les Paul Wireless that is used on GH III (I already own one) - as my Fender doesn't work on GH III. Ordered it on line from Red Octane - and yesterday afternoon go to check on the status. Tracking says it's dropped off - but it wasn't. Wrote an e-mail to Red Octane, and within 30 minutes they replied back that it was no problem - they would send me another one right away 2-day ship, but now I have to sign for it.

So far, so good. I've been impressed on how the returns / problems have been resolved. We'll see how it works out.

Yeah, agree with you there. That's why whenever I put on the GH3 controller I loudly state "Now it's time for me to play ukulele hero!" (mostly because I'm 6-5).

However, I didn't know if the RB controller was compatible with GH3 - and I wanted another controller that was compatible with each.
