Yeah, agree with you there. That's why whenever I put on the GH3 controller I loudly state "Now it's time for me to play ukulele hero!" (mostly because I'm 6-5).

However, I didn't know if the RB controller was compatible with GH3 - and I wanted another controller that was compatible with each.

Its not.

The drum stool at Guitar Center I saw, was like $65. I'll continue sitting on my chair.

I wish I knew you were looking for one, I saw a drum stool at a garage sale last weekend for 5 bucks. I'm sure I could have got them down to 3 :)

:( I bought him a $60 drum stool. He doesn't like it. (Understandably). Lost my receipt....so he's still on his kitchen chair.

Why not? I've been thinking about getting one as well...

On another note - I've gotten too used to the Fender - tried using the GH3 today, nothing but problems. The neck sizes are different - the Fender is thinner and allows my fingers to be faster.

For lack of a better description, the seat is jiggly. There's nothing we can do to keep it from wiggling. Very frustrating to try to play while your seat won't sit still.

:yeahthat:

It's almost like a washer is missing or something that helps keep it steady.

my exact problem, the round design feels like **** in my hands and the buttons are further apart causing me problems on tough songs.

I agree. The fact that the Fender's buttons are recessed, and the Gibson's are rounded and further apart suck. The Fender is easier to use, but the Gibson's strum is much better in response.

Agreed - and if they could get the Gibson's strum response in the Fender without that annoying *click* - I'd be in heaven.

And relocate the SF switch - the location on the Fender drives me nuts.

Arg - 235. Haven't been that since Junior High.

Just picked up one of the new Wireless Fenders. I am very pleased. I have to say the build quality feels better somehow. Especially the strum. It feels more sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break if you put pressure down to hard. From what I understand they replaced the old mechanism with a magnetic one to avoid the past problems.

I have not touched my wired one since. Nice to know that they are trying to improve them. I might have to pick up another Wireless and permanently retire the wired one.

Do you have GH3? If so, would you try a compatibility test for me?

jus did, gh3 had an update as soon as i plugged it in, giving me hope.

Still uncompatable.

My take: Guitar Hero could easily patch this issue and for some reason wont. Rockband is cleary a better multiplayer game and has better instruments. If they would make it compatable, dual guitaring was fun, the music is good and the solo campaign is enjoyable. All I have that works is the wirless gh3 guitar and I hate it so I have not played GH3 since rockband came in to my house.

This is great news! I was hoping for this exact improvement.

I would probably play GH 3 more if it worked with the RB guitar! Wireless is nice, but those fret buttons suck. :pullhair:

On the subject of returns / replacements:

Well, my whammy bar on my Fender broke three days ago - the spring that puts the bar back in place must have broke (now it's limp and a pain to whammy), so I called EA - had to go through the phone system, but finally ended up taking to a real live person (there were no options regarding whammy bars).

Short story (too late) - they'll send me a box, I put the guitar in the box and send it back to them, and they replace it - no muss no fuss. That's good.

When my Fender broke, I figured that I'd better get a backup guitar, so I decided to get the Les Paul Wireless that is used on GH III (I already own one) - as my Fender doesn't work on GH III. Ordered it on line from Red Octane - and yesterday afternoon go to check on the status. Tracking says it's dropped off - but it wasn't. Wrote an e-mail to Red Octane, and within 30 minutes they replied back that it was no problem - they would send me another one right away 2-day ship, but now I have to sign for it.

So far, so good. I've been impressed on how the returns / problems have been resolved. We'll see how it works out.

Update: No issue from Red Octane - received my new GH3 controller and it works fine. Can see why someone would steal it though - they do a crappy job regarding packing - the box was half opened when it arrived - they used cheap packing tape. All contents there, everything works, so no worries.

Received my return box for the Fender - easy stuff, dropped it off this morning. Will see how long it takes to get a new one back.

Ordered a wireless Strat w/ their RB drum stool - waiting for it all to arrive.

Annoying - they only offer USPS shipping. No FedEx, no UPS.

This could be bad...

USPS shipping with large packages is great. They won't just leave a package at your front door like FedEX/UPS will.

I tried this game again, my second attempt. It was more fun playing with my brother. Helped him knock out some tunes. The drums on easy and medium are actually more difficult for me because my ears keep wanting me to play the song, not play some parts and leave out the rest (the hi hat or ride cymbal, for example). I'm playing far more notes than I'm supposed to. This is why it's often times harder for real drummers to play this game. Also, the set up is not at all intuitive for a drummer.

To put my theory to the test on the missing parts, I tried YYZ on expert level. I made it through 50 percent of the song before bombing out. I can play this song on a drum set, so I thought this was a poor performance, but there were 12 dropped jaws on the floor. All I did was play what I already knew rather than trying to read the drum "script" on the screen, guessing which pad represented the drum being played.

I guess its just a matter of taste. I have talked to a couple of real drummers who love this game. I also know some guitar players who love it as well. I get though why it would be hard to go against your normal instincts. Pretty much the consensus is though that this game is more of a blast in multiplayer then solo.
