Called it when it happenedEven if the scores hold as they are right now (DBacks winning, Mets winning, Braves losing), the only way the DBacks can back into a playoff spot is if the Mets sweep the Braves or the Braves sweep the Mets tomorrow in the make up doubleheader. If they split, all three teams would finish at 89-73 - and the Mets and Braves own tiebreakers over the DBacks. And that is if today's scores hold. Wow. That loss at Milwaukee last week was the final nail in the coffin it appears. That set up a lackluster 2-4 final homestand (if the DBacks win today) to end the lost season.
Yes he should. Or at least be demoted to bench coach. He seems suited to that role since he wants to be everyone's buddy. Wonder if he'll cry at the press conference today when someone brings up the Milwaukee game last Sunday and how that tanked the season for the DBacks. We know that the two NL East teams will collude on the doubleheader and ensure a split. That shuts out the DBacks.Called it when it happened
Torey should be fired for that game alone
The Mets and Braves play a doubleheader tomorrow in Atlanta (make up games from the hurricane last week). If they split the doubleheader, then the Braves, Mets, and DBacks will all have a 89-73 record. The Braves and Mets own tiebreakers over the DBacks, so if all three teams have the same record, the DBacks are out. If the Braves sweep the Mets or the Mets sweep the Braves in the doubleheader, then the DBacks are in. The loser of the doubleheader sweep is out. Don't count on that. The Braves and Mets are both in the NL East. If they split the doubleheader, then the NL East has 3 teams in the postseason (Phillies, Mets, and Braves). Hope that helps explain it.Are they in? I know there is a double header between Braves and Mets. Heard that a team has to sweep another team for the dbacks to get in? How's that possible?
