Hopefully, Ferdinand will be coming on board today.

Black Cats 'agree' deal
Keane looking to iron out 'one or two things'
Last updated: 22nd August 2008

Sunderland boss Roy Keane says an unnamed player has 'agreed in principle' to move to the Stadium of Light.

Keane has been active in the transfer market this week, with Djibril Cisse and David Healy both signing for the Black Cats.

A further two new arrivals have been lined up, with West Ham United centre-half Anton Ferdinand mulling over an offer.

Ferdinand is understood to have accepted a switch to the North East with Keane waiting to finalise the transfer.

"I spoke to a player last night and he has agreed to come in principle," said Keane.

"There are just one or two things to be ironed out, and there's one other position I'd like to strengthen before I'm finished."

Well played, sir. Well played. Now, are you just being mean, or are there really no places to watch matches on TV?
See it was tough, Prince Hal wasn't V yet, when he vanquished Hotspur, but I went with it.

Just being mean. :)

Good result for you guys! I really thought it was done when they levelled as Spurs were pushing for the winner, but Cisse it was.

I'll take the Newcastle result as well. 4 points from 2 games works for me!

Btw, English, I think that one link will really work well for me once I get a new computer. Mine's rubbish, and doen't do well with feeds like that. I got to see Given stop the penalty and saw the goal, but most of the time it was buffering.

Arsenal is not looking good in this early season, so you guys should take all the chances you've got and run with them.

West Ham accept Ferdinand offer

Ferdinand's contract runs out in 2010

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley says the club have accepted a bid from Sunderland for Anton Ferdinand.
The 23-year-old defender is mulling over Sunderland's offer, with the transfer fee reportedly as much as £8m.
Curbishley said: "The board have accepted the bid - he's not renegotiated his contract - and the decision has been taken out of my ands. "I don't know where Anton is in terms of signing for Sunderland but once the club accept the bid it moves on." Ferdinand, the younger brother of Manchester United star Rio, signed a three-year contract extension in July 2005 and his current deal is due to expire in 2010.

Ben, how do you rate Ferdinand?
he is a decent player but i think is prone to the odd clanger.

he is not Evans but better then we have to be fair. If we have 8 million spare i'm not sure it s the best money we will spend but i think with the window coming to a close its prob not a bed signing as we would be weak otherwise.

its just what players cost these days!!

True that. I'm still hoping for Evans, though it's a long shot. SAF left him out of the squad today against Pompey though.

I could live with AF and Evans both coming to the SoL. :D

Great signing for you guys. I'm not pleased with how our transfer crap is going. Now King Kev says its unlikely we get to sign any more, which sucks because we need depth desperately (just found out Martins and Duff both out 3-4 weeks!). Now Milner puts in a transfer request because he likes Villa so much. Ugh. We have a quality side, but our owner's effing stinginess is probably going to kill our season.

cant believe the Milner thing tbh. I have a feeling it is as a result of the lack of ambition being shown at NUFC. Could be no other reason. You had 47000 there last week, he gets first team football and will be paid very very well. Cant think it would be enything else that would make him want to leave. Unless maybe he wants to move to the next level.....get the cheque book Sir Niall ;)

I think that he just loved it at Villa when he was there. He's shown no discontent in Newcastle, has played well, and kept his mouth shut. I think he just likes it there better.
