I agree that the Suns should at least consider making an offer for Davis if it seems like the Pelicans are getting an itchy trigger finger. Yes, he could leave in a year and a half, but it's not like the Suns have a chance of getting a comparable talent in free agency or the draft. Ayton can't be included, however; that's just madness.
I don’t think you get him if Ayton isn’t included. But man if you could combine Ayton, Davis, and booker you trade the rest of the roster and multiple 1sts to do so.

Relax, mine post purely hypothetical.

Just wanted to make that clear before anyone brings out the pitchforks.

I thought it was a reasonable question, just wanted to make it more comparable. It's still off a bit since Davis has proven far more than Booker has but it's closer.

Would you take that package for Booker if it was offered?
Hmm, I’d have to think about it. We would have a lot of redundancy but a ridiculous amount of assets. Think about it:

Ball/Melton/okobo
Hart/Bridges/KCP
Warren/JJ/oubre
Kuzma/Ingram
Ayton/zubac/Holmes

Plus 2 of the lakers firsts in addition to our own. I’m not sure that team is great but that’s a ton of young depth. Eventually you could probably craft a collection of all of that into one or two stars if they develop.

That said, it’s not really comparable considering Davis has already said trade me and has only 4 teams on his list.

Yeah and the pitch fork comment wasn’t directed at you, just wanted to put out a pre caution before anyone started a war about it.

Yeah but hypothetically let’s say Booker demands a trade before he gets to one year remaining on his deal. For example, this summer. Obviously he won’t have any “teams list” since he’s under contract for another 5 years but he’s also not the player that Anthony Davis is (like Steve said). If the Lakers strike out on Davis and any other trade target and decided to offer that for Booker, then I’d strongly think about it for the same reasons you just said.

Ultimately I would probably decline because I can’t stomach the thought of Booker somehow turning into a superstar player and just killing the Suns for the next 10-15 years in our division.

That’s a lot of open seats next to LeBron. Must be pretty bad if even the veteran guys like Chandler and Rondo are sitting far from him.

Start with three unprotected picks including this year. It would be interesting.

LeBron chose that spot to sit, he's isolating himself.

There is no chance in hell I would trade Ayton or Booker for Davis. We'd merely swap places with NO. Would I trade just about everything but those guys for Davis and hope he's tempted to try and build a young dynasty... that is a lot more appealing. But I don't think New Orleans agrees to send him here for Jackson, Bridges, cap relief and what would probably end up being a 6th-10th pick in the draft.

We'd also just about need to get Holiday in the deal too or we're still in point guard purgatory with no way to add anyone new.

So... we get Holiday and AD, take some bad contracts too, send them Bridges, Jackson, Okobo, whoever they want of our bad point guards, 2 first round picks and pick swap rights...

I'd do it, but I don't think New Orleans does, they can get more moving AD and Holiday in separate deals. Also, we could offer them better cap relief if we hadn't dumped Rivers and Chandler's contracts for absolutely zero reason.... but... we're kinda stupid like that.

If the Suns win the lottery, would you guys trade say Zion, Bridges, Anderson (for salary purposes), Jackson, unprotected 2020 and 2021 Suns own first rd picks for Davis?

*iirc Suns can trade picks in consecutive years because they would have the Bucks pick available to them still.

I actually would do that. I know the whole “Oh but he will leave and it’s only a 1 year rental” thing will be popular but I honestly don’t care, I’m tired of rookies and I will take one year of a superstar like Davis than spending another 6 years on developing a rookie.

In this hypothetical of going “all in” you trade Ayton and pair Zion/Davis with Booker. If you can attach Anderson in that package it leaves cap space for roster upgrades to keep AD.

No way. I like Zion's chances of being more impactful than Davis. Scottie Pippen might be going a bit far but I don't think he's off by much when he claims that Zion is the best prospect since Michael Jordan. I don't know if I'd trade him straight up for Davis but I know I wouldn't include all the other stuff.

But that's like saying "I can't get the girl because I am not self-confident, so I am not going to even try."

Including Ayton in an AD trade is like dumping a girl you really like and have a long term interest in because a hot cheerleader is breaking up with her boyfriend... she's also never shown even the slightest interest in you and has the hots for some dude you totally loath.

Yeah, if Davis were still on the market come draft time and we had the number 1 pick... THEN I would dangle Ayton before them. Ayton, their choice of JJ or Bridges and a 2020 unprotected pick and cap relief is more than anyone else could sniff at.

I would trade the pick unconditionally BEFORE the lottery, because the chances are small, but if we won the lottery, I would keep it and draft Zion.

Keep a core of Book, Zion, Ayton. Trade any number of picks and players to add a pg.

AD and Zion would be a transcendent frontcourt and he would stay. Then Book takes the next step into superstardom. Now I can’t sleep.

OK. Just for giggles. Not really serious.

TJ Warren, DeAndre Ayton, Josh Jackson, two Suns first rounders for AD.

How does that offer stack up against the Lakers offer?
Are tge Suns getting Davis and Simmons in this trade?

What an absurd offer.

Trading Ayton for Davis is silly and nobody trades Zion.

I've been saying it for awhile. I also think nobody trades Zion while they still have better than 10 to 1 odds in their favor of drafting him. And if I'm wrong and someone does trade it and it hits; there will be one very unhappy fanbase and ownership group. Zion will be huge on the court but maybe even bigger at the box office.

I might consider rolling the dice and trading a 14% chance at Zion. But I'm not trading the #1 pick. Having Ayton, Zion and Booker secured long term with cash to spend is just too good to pass up......

They paid an insane price for an unrestrcited free agent in Harris.

Elton Brand is a rookie GM this might backfire hard.

They had a lot of assets and used them on two unrestricted free agents.

Butler already does not look too happy in Philly and Harris is the kind of guy that will get a maximum contract even if he is a tier below actual max players.

They are going to have to pay Embiid, Simmons, Harris and Butler all the max.

I don't see Harris taking less than the max, even the Suns might offer him as much as they can.

I think Harris is a better long-term fit for that team than Butler, but for now I'd be concerned there are too many mouths to feed. More importantly, Bobi and Tobi stay together. I can't believe the Clips move Boban. He's a national treasure.

I'd throw the max at Harris. Sure it's an overpay, but he would be really good with the Suns current makeup.
