And so Patriots RB Brandon Bolden also is planning to opt out of the 2020 season, which would make him the fifth New England player to miss this season.

A message from #Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower, one of the highest profile players opting out amid the Coronavirus: “Me and my fiancée are just more concerned with the health of our family than football — especially the new addition to our family.”

Hightower has a 2-week-old son.

#Bills veteran DT Star Lotulelei will be taking a voluntary opt-out for this season, source says. The former first-rounder has $4.5 million fully guaranteed this season as well as $2.5 million fully guaranteed the following year. So those will push into 2021 and ‘22.

More opt-outs: #Saints veteran TE Cole Wick and #Titans undrafted rookie OL Anthony McKinney are opting out of the 2020 season, per sources. Worth noting: Undrafted rookies who take the voluntary opt-out aren’t eligible for the $150,000 salary advance.

With Marcus Cannon opting out of the 2020 season today, what about fellow cancer survivor James Conner? The #Steelers running back is playing, per source. Four years cancer-free and in phenomenal shape entering a big season.

Actual text exchange with an NFL executive today after a sixth Patriot opted out:
Him: “You know Bill is masterminding all of this somehow.”
Me: “For what reason?”
Him: “I don’t know! That’s why he is who he is!”

They know they don't have a QB that can win. This gives them an excuse for the 9-7 season that would have been best case scenario. Then they can come back after acquring a Real QB

Oh and I found out why signing Cam Newton for 1 year was so good. He will count for compensatory when they draft a QB next year and he signs elsewhere.

It was like spending a couple million to get a free 4th or 5th round pick.
