COVID definitely doesn't appear to be seasonal as it just blasted through summer, but I don't think that is what he was saying with regard to Flu season.

Many experts fear that Flu season will hit with COVID still going strong and that will put additional burden on the already stressed out health care system. It all depends on how bad the Flu strain is this year. There is also the possibility of Coinfections, having the Flu and COVID at the same time which would suck.
All other things being equal - Wouldn't isolation, distancing and other COVID-fighting measures also be effective as flu-fighters?

Sources: Negotiations between the NFLPA and NFL continue today. Several key issues remain for both sides to hammer out beyond just how to manage revenue shortfall / cap. Big issue for players is the opt out, which is progressing.

More details from what is on the table and being discussed: 2020 will be no play, no pay. All salaries and incentives will go away if games are stopped.

Interesting, important resolution to new CBA agreement, per source: There will be a fund/benefit established to pay back any benefits eliminated as a result of covid up to 2023 AND paying back any lost guaranteed money to players.

From yesterday.

Report: NFL adds temporary IR for players who test positive

Rapoport said a player who tests positive will be placed on temporary IR immediately, with his return subject to medical clearance.

Teams can promote a practice squad player as a replacement, then return that player to the practice squad without waivers. The temporary IR is unlimited and provides the "desired and necessary roster flexibility," according to the report.

All you need to know about how truly uncertain things are in the NFL in the era of Covid: the agreement with the players includes salary and service time stipulations for various classes of players should the season be suspended before all teams have even cut down from 90 players

Important note: players must take THREE COVID 19 tests and have three negatives before entering team facilities. News was conveyed to teams on Friday. All other football personnel (coaches, etc) take two tests.

Washington DE Caleb Brantley is the first NFL player to take the "high risk" opt out, per the transaction wire.

Brantley, who played in one game last season, gets a $350,000 stipend with no offset and an accrued/credited season. His contract tolls.
