Suns really got down on Green the 2nd half of last season for has lack of effort on defense.

Plus Greens a mental midget. He's too emotional and inside his head most of the time. This explains his streakiness and his odd on court behavior. I, for one have tired of his disappearing act and welcome his departure.

I think Green was just not happy with his role. He had a breakout year playing (for half a season) next to Dragic, and then he got demoted. I don't think he had any interest in coming back. He has a good situation in Miami- first player off the bench, big minutes, he's pretty much guaranteed to start 20 games Wade is almost guaranteed to miss. He is exactly what Miami needs- he can shoot and he can run. He'll have fun, increase his value, and he'll make them a much better team.

Still confused why the Suns would let Green go???

The Suns got locked into having too smalls on their roster, 1,2 and 3s last season without enough minutes to give them. They are still well socked this season. Warren needs to get more playing time at SF. I'm glad the Suns brought in a number of 4,5s to evaluate.

The Suns traded Gerald Green?
Ahhh, nevermind. Saw the other thread.

I bet it's much more likely that he does much more harm than good.

Yea plus that Miami environment just seems perfect for him. I think he'll immediately become a fan favorite there.

Their fans are going bonkers over Twitter about being able to get him for just the vet min.

OK, we'll see.

Given what you dislike in players I'm surprised you defend Green. He destroys possessions by dribbling away the clock, he takes absolutely idiotic shots, he was probably the most selfish player on the team (by a huge margin) and his assist to turnover ratio is apocalyptic. As a Sun he has turned the ball over more than he has assisted baskets. You occasionally see big men with that stat, but for a guard to have more turnovers than assists, that is dreadful.

He was one of only 3 guards in the league who played ~20 minutes or more per game and had more turnovers than assists.

And non of that mentions his defense... which is laughable.

Ok. So.

Chandler, Len
Morris, Teletovic, Leuer
Tucker, Warren
Knight, Weems, Booker
Bledsoe, Goodwin, Price

Interesting. Looks like Archie is going to have a hard time getting minutes again. But Warren is going to get some real time. This team has a little more age but is not old.

If Markieff is on the roster come opening night then I think its purely because they didn't like the offers.

On paper the Suns look much improved over the 2013–14 Suns roster which had a winning record. Maybe I just pumped over the Tyson Chandler and the Mirza Teletovic signings but I'm thinking the Suns get into the playoffs this coming season.

This time the Suns have not ignored their lack of size and should have more balanced scoring.

I wouldn't say I am defending him. I am just saying that he is a solid signing for Miami. Miami is being transformed from a very slow team into a running team. They also desperately need three point shooting. He provides those two things. Notice that I am not upset that the Suns let him go.

I'm glad Green is gone. Archie should beat out Weems in practice and be the first sub in the back court. Archie was good when he got pt after the all-star break. Why they suddenly cut his minutes was probably to make the playoffs so if they keep PJ as SF and bring TJ off the bench then it should be Archie's spot to loose.

...or they slide PJ to SG when TJ subs in for a guard...

Assuming you want a roster to be able to go about 10 deep, with each position having a true starter and a solid backup, the Suns are about 8/10 of the way to a top tier contending team.

The center position is set better than we've seen in Phoenix since ????
The guards are talented and deep too, with exciting young talent backing up high echelon starters in Knight and Bledsoe.

We have a glut of role player type of forwards. All kinds of guys who are excellent, solid backup material. We need someone at the 3 and 4 who can be competitive with the top forwards in the league. Those two spots stand between us and facing the Cleveland Lebrons in the finals next year.

Contrary to a lot of people, I like what the Suns have done. Yeah they struck out on LMA, but they've got a roster full of guys who may be on the verge of reaching the next level. (Bledsoe, Knight, Len, even Markieff.)

Plus some younger guys with potential. (Goodwin, Warren, Booker.)

Rounded out with a few vets that can actually contribute and hopefully keep the locker room in check. (Chandler, Teletovic, Weems, and I guess Tucker.)

I wish they could have brought in LMA, even though I don't think he would have put them over the top. But he would have put them into the playoffs. I still think this could be a playoff team if they gel, and I'm actually looking forward to this season.

I'm very happy the way the Suns recovered after losing Aldridge and they didn't have to give up Tucker and Markieff. Certainly Markieff has some question marks after trading his brother but he seems to be a young PF on the rise. The addition of Teletovic to play behind him was huge. Also Tyson Chandler was a excellent signing not only for his play but the way he can tutor Len, anchor the defense and from what I understand, can call plays on defense. I guess I now worry more about the Suns guard rotation more than anything else. We are in agreement the Suns could be a playoff team. It should be an exciting team if nothing else.

Would be nice if Kieff could mature and take the next step this year. Hopefully he gets his mind right. All other positions look good. No stars but a lot of solid players.

I'm hoping Warren gets a ton of opportunities to play big minutes. He could be our go to guy in crunch time.

I'd like to see Keiff revert to the way he played the year before last. He had some rotten games then but at least some of the time he would take the ball to the hoop - got to the FT line much more doing that, of course. He needs to be at his very best on offense because he a weak PF in the other facets of the game. If he's just shooting jumpers from mid-range and further, Hornacek needs to bench him.

So barring a Morris trade this roster is complete. I am am not sure if this is a playoff team or a lottery team.

sadly, it's probably a 9 seed... again, leaving us right where we've been for half a decade. That is unless the Knight/Bledsoe backcourt ends up being good and Len takes a major step forward.

I dunno, I think we're probably going to be picked to make the playoffs. Portland is going to be awful, I think the Mavs will be a mess too. Two playoff spots are open, safe to assume OKC will take one of them, the other... Suns... Jazz? Nuggets, Lakers, Kings and Twolves all look pitiful.
