I'm better than Mulli!
Man I hope he can play, but I’m in no way deluding myself into believing the 52nd pick is going to make the roster, much less contribute, this season. I used to do that with strawberry’s of the world.
I generally agree, but he has a fairly straightforward skill set and this team is currently devoid of any depth. He should at least make the roster, but anything beyond that is impossible predict. Hope to see him in SL.Man I hope he can play, but I’m in no way deluding myself into believing the 52nd pick is going to make the roster, much less contribute, this season. I guess that depends on what happens in free agency. As of now, he probably would make the roster just because of potential open spots. But if we sign a few players it might be g-league for him, which would not be a bad outcome.Man I hope he can play, but I’m in no way deluding myself into believing the 52nd pick is going to make the roster, much less contribute, this season. I consider draft picks mainly coin in your pocket. Always good to have some loose change.I can't recall the 52nd pick or any late pick being counted on to be a contributor or even make the roster since I can remember.
It certainly shows how hungry Suns fans are for draft picks.
Not "counted on" but there have been second round picks that have been contributors, for sure. In fact, I believe our current MVP was a second round pick. Kyle Korver was a 51st pick, and Patty Mills a 55th pick. Steve Kerr 50, Manu Ginobli at 57. The list is actually pretty long.I can't recall the 52nd pick or any late pick being counted on to be a contributor or even make the roster since I can remember.

Notable NBA Second Round picks
Only one pick, so that's the guy we talk about. If we had a first-rounder, this guy would not get that much attention. It's ok. He has some interesting qualities.I can't recall the 52nd pick or any late pick being counted on to be a contributor or even make the roster since I can remember.

Nikola Jokic, Draymond Green headline best second round picks in NBA Draft history | Sporting News
The 2nd round of the draft has a rich history of producing quality role players, starters, All-Stars and in one particular case since the merger, a multi-time MVP.www.sportingnews.com
I joke about that EVERY Suns game with my wife. Pick the former Suns on the other team. There are usually 2-3 every game. At a minimum there's one, usually. Can't think of a team off the top of my head without a former Suns player.45 or so players on that list. 11 were either picked by or at some point played for the Suns.

I think for a while in the eighties and nineties, we still had dominant teams gather the most talent. But now with Europe, Asia, and Africa starting to supply players, our talent pool is getting deeper, and the gap between top and bottom is not as steep as it used to be. I think there are more teams that can challenge for the top prize now. Heck, in the eighties, preseason talk was if the Celtics or Lakers would win that year. Other teams were basically an after thought. This last season was wide open. I think we are finally getting to where most teams can field a decent roster. The NBA used to be much smaller and scouting wasn't a big business back then so it should be no surprise that many good players were still available in the 2nd round and later. In a 15 year stretch thanks to expansion and the ABA merget the league grew from 10 teams in 66 to 23 teams in 81.
Gradually teams began investing in more scouting which led to a decrease in the number of rounds. When I was a kid, the draft ended only when the teams ran out of players they were interested in and it sometimes went 20 rounds or more.
Who could forget Rick Barry and the famous underhanded free throws he rarely missed. Hated that multi colored basketball…Wow! The merger was 1976? That late? I remember watching Dr. J in the ABA, and Dan Issell the Missell. I would have guessed earlier.
Made seeing the rotation of the ball easy. Plus the red, white, and blue was ahead of the bicentennial!Who could forget Rick Barry and the famous underhanded free throws he rarely missed. Hated that multi colored basketball…
