Currently there is no way to access your DVR content through the Xbox One. I still use my remote for that and my volume. The way my system is setup the kinect volume command only controls the tv volume which I don't use...it runs through my stereo receiver.

OK maybe I'll try hooking it up to the Xbox and using the DVR remote. At least that will save me from having to switch Inputs.

getting close to 100% completion on peggle 2. Cant believe 2 player local still hasnt become available. My kids would love to play multiplayer here popcap. Also, they said bringing duel mode in, duel mode is cool but the online peggle party mode is SO much better. Not sure why they wont do that for local multiplayer.

There is a demo now for lego marvel superheroes for anyone interested. Personally im not a big fan of any of these lego games. I play them with my son but at 5 years old, he has trouble with the amount of puzzles involved and cant really play on his own.

We have the full version and that is all my 7 year old boy plays. His buddy came over for MLK day and my mom said they played it for 6 hours straight.

so the latest news is that 10% of the xbox GPU is for kinect. 8% for video and 2% for voice. This is mandatory.

On a new patch coming out, they are lifting the 8% mandatory kinect video for games and expect that to get the games that dont use it up to 60FPS vs the norm 30FPS they have been pumping out.

Not sure it really matters to me but good to hear they are addressing issues quickly.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I only play Battlefield 4 and I turn off the kinect in the game settings. I wonder if that alleviates the mandatory 10% or not. It seems the frame rate is really good but I have no way of knowing if it is 60fps or not. I guess it won't really matter after the updated tonight.

the patch is coming, not today though.

Unplugging your kinect doesnt do anything. the 8% was reserved for it so developers couldnt use 98% of the gpu, only 90%. In the future they are going to be able to use 98%.

I am skeptical at best how this goes for MS. First off if you turn off the video portion, you lose recognition, gesture features etc. when you play a game. You would basically only have voice commands.

This is a tough call for MS. You want to close the gap on the PS4 but it comes at a price if you allow developers to make that call.

If you turn that stuff off, there goes one of the selling points of the console. Developers are going to opt for the better looking game, use that GPU power and shutoff video. Which in turn prevents you from taking advantage of some of those features like recognition and gestures that could be really cool in a game.

What is even more interesting is all this talk of the MS cloud freeing up resources on the XBOX ONE has basically evaporated. There was all this talk of offloading things to the cloud so more could be done and nobody is talking about that.

.

It should be up to the developer though. If call of duty uses NO kinect camera, 8% of the GPU is being wasted.

I like the features like recognition and maybe they could leave one percent to video to allow for those features but we shall see.

Oh I agree. I think though it stifles innovation. For example, I remember reading several developers wanted to implement gestures for making commands like the special forces do without using the mic. Also, using gestures for example to swipe panels or touch panels etc.

All that goes away for the sake of graphics. I think more often than not they are going to opt for 60FPS and better graphics. That can't be what MS or developers originally had in mind. If MS has a strategy for freeing up resources using the cloud they better get their act together fast.

Yeah I dont know where the cloud is supposed to come into play, maybe all the demos I downloaded are on the cloud instead of on my xbox - no idea - they dont let me view my harddrive.

I think the main issue here is, you should have added more GPU in the first place and this wouldnt matter.

Oh well, its an issue I cannot see with the naked eye but im glad they are finding ways to address it.

I read a side by side review ps4 vs xbone on the new tomb raider. It said ps4 has a slight graphic edge and beyond that it is totally even.

It's funny how you can basically use the same architecture, chip providers and really have any secrets about how the other guys system is going to perform. I don't know if MS was just banking on Kinect being the difference maker but if they did...they are dumb.

I like my Kinect but at the end of the day it's the games that matter and how the machine performs on those games. Kinect was always a bonus for me. Seeing how Kinect games performed on the 360 I just don't see how MS could have made such a strategic mistake.

You can't tell me when the same company is providing your chips a little birdy is telling each company what the other one has inside. You know?

I will say that all this stuff is pretty overrated for now. I can't tell the difference between a couple games on my PS4 and XBOX ONE. Maybe in a year or two it will be more evident.

Bought one yesterday from Newegg.com. They had a deal where you got Battlefield 4 for free and there was no tax or shipping. Not gonna find a better deal than that right now so I swooped it up. Should be here Monday, but I probably won't have to play it until Thursday or Friday
