Got one for Christmas from my wife.

Definitely taking that sucker back. It doesn't do anything except play games. If you want to stream anything from Netflix or Hulu, not only do you have to pay for those services, you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold as well. I don't play many games, much less online, so it became a total waste of 500 bucks. The system can stream from your computer, but it's so complicated that it's useless--you have to control what you watch from your computer, which is bass ackwards.

Kinect functionality was cool, but that was about it. Very disappointed.

My PS3 does everything I need it to do with no problem. Just too bad the Move is not very good.

Chap, not sure if your just repeating something you read on line but what you stated is anything but the facts. I have both systems. The XBOX ONE's media capabilities are far superior to anything the PS3 or PS4 does.

In fact, the XBOX ONE is the exact opposite of what you said. The PS4 is considered the system you pretty much will only game on. The XBOX ONE on the other hand is rich in media features.

XBOX ONE offers similar solutions to what Apple and Google do today in terms of streaming tons of content through apps. You can run and control your DVR with the XBOX ONE (i.e. Direct TV). It has integrated SKYPE now in the UI. It integrates social media experiences through the social functions. You can search tons of streaming content from the XBOX ONE UI. As mentioned above you have the HDMI pass through which will open up a ton of possibility.

I have my own issues like it not recognizing DLNA but that is coming. With XBOX ONE Glass (using your own tablet) there is a ton of capabilities to expand into including controlling the thing like a media server. Now match that with Kinect integration and the ceiling is very high for multimedia capabilities.

Now it's true if you are not into gaming neither system probably makes sense. I can see your reservations about paying for XBOX LIVE but the same now applies to PSN and you now must pay for it with a PS4.

While MS has announced they are working on some tweaks to improve the multimedia experience, it appears some of your "ease of use" will die with the PS3 as they have shifted the focus on the PS4 being a gaming machine.

If you are not a gamer? I can see you not be interested in either machine but I am excited about my PS4 being a gamer focused machine while equally excited about the XBOX ONE being a multimedia hub that will improve over time...and I get to play some pretty cool exclusive content.

I understand your excitement over it, but I also had the system, so it's not like I'm pulling this out of my backside.

It cannot do anything I want it to--I am not a gamer, so the ONLY reason for XBox Live is just to get access to use Netflix, Hulu, etc... Not worth it--I already pay about 200 a year for both those services (270 with Amazon Prime), why should I bother with another 60 on top of that? I also don't have cable, so that's useless also. Why pay 550 for something that I just have to cross my fingers and wait to be able to do anything on? I have much less faith in Microsoft than you do.

The PS4 has no capability to stream home media from my PC, so that's worthless to me as well.

The PS3, meanwhile, does all of that for free. Streams home media through a PC, has Netflix, Hulu, et al for free, and the games are going to get cheaper and cheaper.

I may one day go back and get the Xbox One at some point, but that point is definitely not now.

You only need Silver to use Netflix and Prime and Silver is free. Also, I can stream through my PC and Surface just fine and I use my Skydive as well on my Xbox One for other media items like pictures. It all works seamlessly for me. The fact they I can control Netflix with voice commands is even better.

I signed up Gold after installing and using all of that so I can play multiplayer games online, otherwise I would not have signed up and paid. But hey, new technology is not for everyone. I know my five year old has to help my wife with it when I am not home. ;)

I now have four games and here is my ranking

1. Need for Speed, smooth game that is really addicting and fun
2. Call of Duty, same as the rest, but still fun as hell
3. Dead Rising, fun, but too much of the same and too many goals all at the same time
4. NBA 2k, too many changes to career mode. Graphics are much better, but game play is the same

Anyone having issues switching to TV and also Xbox one not turning on/off tv, satellite receiver, and audio receiver? Mine was working fine for the week we have had this but all of a sudden I am having issues.

I saw some other threads online about people with Panasonic TV's, which is what I have, having problems but I am also having issues with my other devices.

Since I dont have cable, it controls my volume but does not actually turn my tv off, I have to turn the TV off manually unless I find rabbit ears with HDMI.

That or I did something wrong but xbox turn off only turns off my xbox.

dead rising one was fun but part two had me feeling overwhelmed and part 3s demo does the same. You are basically supposed to pick what mission to do as you cannot do them all but it gets frustrating.

I really want to try need for speed, will probably redbox it though.

Love ghosts. Same ol with some nice tweaks. Love it love it love it.

Again peggle is sweet if anyopne hasnt tried it, fun game for the whole family.

Id try halo and maybe buy it if theyd put a damn demo vs making me just buy it without playing it.

In a bit of bad news, my Kinect sensor has stopped working. It will no longer power on. Rather than mess with it, I am just sending it back.

Is it supposed to control your other components? Mine never has. The remote for my Samsung 7100 tv controls everything without programing the remote but my Xbone. I have trouble with the sound from my direct tv intermittently. I have to turn off the Direct tv box and back on to get the sound to work or wait for a couple of minutes.

Yes. You should see your attached devices in the settings, sorry I can't remember which one. Also in the settings there are some boxes you can check telling the xbox which devices you want to turn on and off with the xbox.

I haven't had too many other issues with it since I posted the other day.

Tried it. Tried leaving it unplugged and turned on console, same thing. Tried doing a hard reset, same thing.

Perhaps it refuses to turn on if you insist on gaming in your underwear.

Still haven't bought one yet. I see them. I nearly buy one every time i see it, but then I remember there are no games worth playing on there that are exclusive yet. One day.

Went in and connected everything to the Xbone and it has been working perfectly since. I don't even need a remote anymore hardly. Awesome.

I still haven't connected my Cox whole home DVR client to the Xbox yet. Not sure how well the Xbox works with a whole home DVR. Anyone try this?

Currently there is no way to access your DVR content through the Xbox One. I still use my remote for that and my volume. The way my system is setup the kinect volume command only controls the tv volume which I don't use...it runs through my stereo receiver.
