as it relates to other teams players:

there is this: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...-tough-decisions-to-get-under-the-salary-cap/

imagine, a 4 win football team that is $12mm over the cap, and has few foundational players that allow them restructure to create space.

here are their players under contract per OTC: https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-giants/

a few guys to think about trading for:

James Bradberry, CB. A very good corner who will be in the last year of his contract in 2022. $13.4 salary / cap hit for the team that trades for him.

Kenny Golladay, WR. big FA last year by the prior regime. $17.5mm sal and roster bonuses for 2022-2024. A bit rich for the kind of big, jump ball vertical receiver the Cards need

That's one way to spin it. Another way is that Green wasn't the #2 we needed and had major heart issues, Conner got hurt at a crucial time, as predicted, etc. Keim having to patch holes because he can't draft and those players not being available/good for the hole season. Now we're in an even crappier roster position after having a flame-out in the playoffs without a victory. But yay stats?

What's driving me crazy is reading how EVERY other team is doing things like hiring assistants and the Cards are doing nothing, at least as far as the media is concerned. Guess they are happy with the staff in place???? I'm a "do something" kind of guy, even if that something ends up being wrong....

So are you saying that the 1.75 million we spent on Conner & his 18TD's wasn't worth it? That he was a bad signing? I think it was a great signing even with his 2 missed games. That's a lot of production for what he cost.

It was a fine signing, necessitated by the fact that Keim is a horrible drafter and has to fill the roster with 1 year stop gaps. Now we have to find somebody else to sign at RB, WR2, TE, or try to re-sign the aging, often injured rentals we had. Great continuity.

Hopefully we take a work horse in the 2nd (Kenneth Walker, Isaiah Spiller) or the 3rd (Breece Hall) so we can stop this madness.

Nope, not at all saying that. It's good bang for your buck. Problem is, when crunch time came, he got injured. Which I pointed out when he was signed is exactly his MO.

Devil's advocate here...there may not have been any late season huge games to play in, without his performance to that point.
Fair point. Without him, we probably don't have that long an undefeated streak to start the season.

He can be a talented back but he has his flaws. The inevitable injury can come in game 1 or 2 as easily as it can late in the season.

Which ones did he miss again? Huge, important ones. I didn't go crazy with the "I told you sos" after the season, but yeah, I called it.
Pretty much what Ron said.

You gotta lower your standards for RBs. There’s no way you can expect these guys to play all 17 games for years without injury. I would understand if he was like CMC missing most of the season, but a RB should not get dinged(no pun intended) for missing 2-4 games a season.

We should take 2 RB's with our 2 5th rounders. I like Rashad White from ASU and Baddie from Missouri.

You know I have been a big advocate for Murray, but if Murray plays respectably over the last 6 games or so, we aren't all upset with the way the season ended.

I would have accepted a closer loss in the playoffs even, since it was there first trip collectively.

put this in the "hmmmmmm" file: Keim has traditionally done newsmakers week on local sports radio. This year: only Mike B

This. Everyone defending Murray brings up his first 7 games. But the first 7 games don't matter if you suck down the stretch.

No point milling the lumber, cutting it all to perfection and building a table with nice tight joints if you then completely screw up the finish and ruin it.

The judgement is on the whole product and the whole product finished with 5 mediocre games and taking a big dump on the table on national TV with 28 passing yards in the 1st half and a stupid pick 6.

You are spot on.
