D Washington court sentencing: One Year Probation

According to Maricopa County Superior Court Daryl Washington is due in court this morning for sentencing, pled guilty to aggravated assault.

Re Washington pled guilty to a lesser aggravated assault charge, it's a Class 6 felony. He is scheduled to be sentenced this morning.

If it is anything like the Big Ben case, he'll hand down a stiff suspension, e.g. 3-5 games, but will reduce it later for 'good behavior'. The idea is to incentivize the knucklehead to stay on the straight and narrow.

Agreed! But the system didn't convict Big Ben. Technically he's 'innocent' in both the 2008 & 2010 incidents. D.W. is guilty and sentenced.

I would think pleading guilty to a felony aggravated assault in which a woman was choked and her collarbone broken trumps two sexual assault allegations and zero criminal charges.

Big Ben was suspended for 6 games and it was eventually reduced to 4.

Why should DWash get any less than that?

He should also have to undergo a league-mandated "professional behavior evaluation" and "adhere to any counseling or treatment that is recommended by the professional evaluators."

Big Ben had also demonstrated a pattern of this behavior as evidenced by a previous allegation. Rape 2x > assault.

The insiders seem to think D-Wash will get a 1-2 game suspension. Sounds about right.

certain criteria have to be met in order to file charges....rape is very difficult to convict on(unless you are a boxer)....in American somewhere in the neighborhood of 90% of rape cases never get a conviction, and about 60% never have official charges filed....... in cases where the event is not reported until months later,...it is nearly impossible to collect any physical evidence.

Yes. They're under two different domains for punishment, whether we agree with it or otherwise. Jurecki made mention of this when D-Wash was arrested.
