Scouting the NBA has some very weird stuff. In their second grouping, they rank McRoberts and Fazekas. over Hibbert and Horford. This has to be a joke. I would not be shocked if McRoberts falls out of the first round and Fazekas is even less highly ranked than McRoberts by everyone else.ick

As bad as those two listings are, it is almost impossible to find even the slightest explanation for listing Javaris Crittenton as the 4th best player in the draft. He was truely awful against UNLV in the tournament. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=562 IMHO, Crittenton is a physical talent who does not appear to be NBA ready much less the fourth best guy in the draft.

I think in this draft there is a chance for that to happen. This draft may be one of the all-time drafts for talent since it has been two rounds.

Jarrett Jack went #22 2005 - Great future ahead of him.
Delante West #24 2004 - Decent player
Chris Duhon #39 2004 - Decent player
Steve Blake #38 2003 -Excellent player.

You have to be a little lucky to get a starting point at #24, but it could happen this year.

But, I really do not think the suns will draft one with pick #24 anyway. I think if they go big on the Atlanta pick, they will go BPA and that will be a swing player.

I can't see the Suns taking Conley with the Hawk's pick and there is no other PG I like enough at #24 to make it worth using there. I think there is a remote chance the Suns would use their #29 pick on a PG, but BPA seems more likely.

I disagree here. LB is our future pg. This team often extends leads with LB running the team around the quarter breaks where Steve rests. He'll be a different type of pg than Nash, but his distributing ability is improving and his other attributes will make this team faster.

this team will be putrid if barbs is our pg of the future. yes, you can learn the position, but the best pgs had natural distributor tendencies even as beginning pgs. barbs does not have that inclination and really dribbles himself into bad positions often. nash and other top pgs do that on occasion as well, but not nearly as often as barbs.

Jack will never be a great player. He is a decent PG nothing more nothing less, you would want a better PG as your starter. Blake is also a backup at best. West really isn't much of a PG, Duhon is also just a decent defender and shooter but lacks actual playmaking skills.

None of these guys is a good playmaker actually. The best "late" PG I can think of is Tony Parker and then Jose Calderon maybe, or Luke Ridnour but Ridnour was like ~#18.

Chauncey Billups?

A lot more than Barbosa. Barbosa is NOT a PG, he has no court vision or passing instincts.. he is a traditional 6th man due to his size and that's not bad. He will be a career 6th man, one of the best ever at that.

Check out those comps from when Billups was 24--B.J. Armstrong, Khalid Reeves, Marcus Banks. Banks and Billups were both playing for Minnesota in those seasons, incidentally.

There's a reason Billups has been kicked around the league a few times.

I suspect Billips is not the only player whose stats changed with the coaching a team style. Billips is a very good defender who scored but didn't shoot well until this season.

He is out of the draft now but Batum is having a good stretch with Le Mans.
He scored in double digits the last 4 games (13pts/5.5rbds/4ast in 30 minutes)
Yesterday he had a very complete performance (15pts/9rbds/7ast in 29 minutes). This is very promising for the next season. Unfortunately he will not be a Suns next season.

hmm, this is actually a very good example of the exception to the rule (which must always seemingly exist). i'll bet you'd be hard-pressed to find another. but a good example in billups nonetheless.

I like the idea that phx drafts conley jr. I know they need an athletic big man but draft on talent not on need.

I think AL horford is an intriguing pick but I saw a lot of fire and playmaking ability in mike conley jr and I think an impact PG is as hard to find as an impact big man.

What Games have you seen of Brandan Wright? I taped like 3 or 4, I believe (he didn't play against U of A) and so of the others, I only watched Georgia Tech and he just looked so thin and didn't impress ME too much that Game... but I usually agree with your takes on Draft, as well as hcsilla's.


At the same, I've only seen Al Thornton once in NIT and his athleticism stood out although he was in foul trouble most of the Game...


Also I still haven't seen the Ohio State/Georgetown matchup but I went ahead and moved Conley up in my rankings... along with Brewer. With Noah dropping down a few spots, Noah is the one Prospect I have in top-10 that I'm still worried about lol he has the fire, size, and decent overall stats; but I would've of liked to have taped 6-10 games to get a better feel of his game...

I think Phx is going to get corey brewer becuase he provides what they need-defense, athleticism, and a natural SF.

With Noah dropping down a few spots, Noah is the one Prospect I have in top-10 that I'm still worried about lol he has the fire, size, and decent overall stats; but I would've of liked to have taped 6-10 games to get a better feel of his game...

I read somewhere that he COULD be a AK47 mismatch type. I have cooled my jets on the Suns drafting him, but if Griffin thought he was the one based on workouts or gametape or whatever I wouldn't be too dissappointed.

Also, if D'A wants soft players would Nick Fazeckas be a viable option for the Suns pick if it were kept? Apparently he's a crafty rebounder and lord knows we need that.

Personally I like Fazekas. To me he compares to Nick Collison of Seattle. VERY similar in playing style. I think he could be had with OUR 29th pick. Lord knows what Collison has done to the Suns in the past. Fazekas isn't as hard nosed on defense, but the rebounding and scoring is right on par.
