I fully believe Doucet was a product of being well, a rookie. I thought he was a steal, and showed a little something this year when he played. Hard to notice with all our stud receivers, but I don't think we'll be saying that for too long. I wouldn't bet against this kid.

I hope we keep Boldin because he opens up so much room for Fitz, but if Boldin really doesn't want to be here than let him go we have a great upcoming wr in Breaston who can make things happen. But if we do trade boldin we better sure as hell get equal talent for him otherwise I will be really pissed. Players like Boldin don't come around to often.

Trade him!

I say the Cards tell Drew "We won't take anything less than a 1st and a 2nd". Have Drew go find a deal and do all of the dirty work. If he can't find a team willing to meet the Cardinals demands, then Boldin either plays for the Cardinals or Sits out the season and gets fined for every day he misses.[/QUOTE]

Agreed 100%, you sir hit the nail on the head. Make Rosenhoser go out an earn some of that money he's lookin to make.

One of the folks who works for me is a huge college football fan and generally does a better job of projecting the rookie talent than the "experts"... he loves Q and predicted him being a steal when we drafted him... has similar expectations of Doucet and says he was simply limited by our depth as a rookie... for what it's worth. He says that Doucet's size and speed are better than Q's and their LB mentality is also very similar... we will see I suppose.

This forum has become cluttered with everyone posting their own opinions about Boldin their own thread.

If you want to talk about Boldin, let's do it here.

If it big news, then it will warrant its own thread.

Contract talks in public are usually very much a no no. When this happens there is usually nothing good going to come out of it. I think that our organization or most any NFL team cannot afford to tie up so much money at the wide receiver position. It forces you to cut back at other needed positions. We in fact have other very good receivers to replace Boldin. Boldin has also been very vocal about wanting to leave the Cardinals. Add all this up and it makes all the sense in the world to trade him. If you cannot get good value in a trade it may make sense to even trade him for lesser value as he could be a very disruptive force on the team. No one disputes what a good player he is. So was Hershel Walker and Bobby Moore and a lot of other great players who left their teams. I have no clue as to what our GM has in mind but my guess is Boldin will be gone by the start of next season. I put those odds at 70-30.

i honestly think management is waiting for the right offer from an AFC team. we drafted doucet for a reason, and it wasn't to be the third WR for 5 years.

Drew Rosenhaus represents three other players that we will have to deal with in the future, Dockett, Rolle & Watson. I'm not counting Smith, because I thnk that he will sign elsewhere. With that in mind I think that the Cardinals should play hardball with Anquan. Barring a stunning trade offer, we keep him on the team. It would cost us 3.75 million against the cap. If he plays, we work and try and negotiate a contract. If he doesn't play, we shut down negotiations.

This isn't to try to stick it to Anquan. Truthfully, for what he has done for the Cardinals I would love to trade him so he can be happy. We need to put the brakes on Rosenhaus. If his other clients see that this won't work with the Cardinals maybe it will prevent it from happening.

In the future I would hope that the Cardinals avoid drafting anyone represented by Drew Rosenhaus, unless that player was heads and tails better than everyone else in the draft.

One thing I noticed is that Drew doesn't represent many first year players anymore. Its later in their career that he leeches on.

See a list of his clients on his Wiki page:

Cards would be foolish to trade a Pro-Bowler at a very affordable price.

IF they do, however, I think the Raiders would overpay for him.

Reports are coming out that the Ravens are going to franchise Suggs (evidently he can be franchised again by the Ravens) if they can't come to an agreement by Thursday so ... Suggs for Boldin?

They need a WR and we need an additional pass rusher, seems like a perfect match. I know player for player deals are incredibly rare but I think this one is a possibility

I would think that it would be very difficult to ever get the upper hand on Drew Rosenhaus. This guy is very shrewd and the best in the business. That is why we all dislike him. He is to agents what the Yankees are to baseball. In a battle between Rosenhaus and our management I think he comes out on top especially when he manages other players on our team.

Sounds like an equitable trade if their salaries are near the same. Be best to trade for someone who has a contract with a few years on it. We would also like to know if Suggs would be interested in staying with the Cards and what kind of money would he be looking for else we would be in the same position next season with Suggs. Baltimore would need the same information from Boldin. If he wants $10 mil a year they may have no interest and it seems he wants Fitz type money.

Both Ray Lewis and Bart Scoot are FA's. Unless they come back, I have a hard time imagining Baltimore considering any trade for Suggs.

Yes it was. Early Doucet was drafted to eventually replace Bryant Johnson. He was an opportunity selection because they had no clue he'd fall into their laps in the third round. If you listen to their comments, they weren't planning to take a receiver that 'early.' And at that point the Cardinals had no clue that Steve Breaston would turn into a solid #3 wide receiver.

The Cardinals should offer him 5/$40 and if he doesn't take it, then let him sit and pout for a year and trade him next off-season.

The problem with that proposition is his trade value diminishes drastically in one year. He turns 29 and has only one more year left after next season. If we are to rid of him, now is the time to do it when we can get maximum R.O.R. We can easily get a 1st rounder with an impact player right now. Next season is questionable.

Totally agree.

I am not against teaching my pouting child a lesson but not at the expense of the team. If they can work a deal great, if they can work a trade that works too but sitting Boldin doesn't just hurt him or his agent it hurts the Cards too. Just get whichever done so we can all move on, there are other players on our team and other deals to get done.

Doe it seem to any one else that there are parts of the off season that move lower than molasses?

I understand it is about money and therefore I ask one thing from the Cardinal organization. Make it public what their contract offer is to Q if he turns it down. I know the Cardinals do not like to make contract talks public but I feel they will not low ball Q and he can then end up leaving the team with everyone knowing it was all about money without a doubt and the Cardinals played it fair. I'm sick of the Cards being labled as cheap when they are actually playing it smart of late instead and offering players what they are worth with the concept of building a whole team that can win.

This way Q does not walk out saying he is about the game BS and he was not aprreciated for who he was

Today Oakland signed their receiver for $45 mil for three years. Any thoughts we have about keeping Boldin are gone with the wind once he reads that. Oakland is nuts. Apparenly many owner think he is also. They also paid a big chunk of change for their punter.
