He's not coming back as he can't. His salary was fully guaranteed in order to match the Beal salary coming in. So he's on the books for $30m this coming season to Washington. He can be waived and stretched or bought out but the deal is essentially taking place next NBA year due to how salaries are worked. That's part of the reason Washington is looking to flip him, they have time to make something happen as they aren't staring down a deadline like the Suns were.

Some info is included in the ESPN+ trade grade about Paul's salary being guaranteed for next season so look past the deadline. This was about clearing the books longterm for Washington and Beal having leverage with his No Trade Clause.

That's the bit we were missing. Thanks. Although I believe they only need to guarantee him up to the amount needed to match salaries. So maybe 25 mil or something, unless they plan on keeping him.

It will be interesting to see if Beal can play team ball with KD and Book. KD was an easy fit. Beal might not be.

Interestingly, if Ayton could be convinced just to play D and rebound, this could be a very good team. Next move will be fascinating. Might be Ayton for a role player.

Jock Landale and Torrey Craig can be re-signed as they are early bird players so the Suns have the makings of a solid core.

Also, Cam Payne is still under contract as well as Deandre Ayton.

Espn gave us a D grade for the trade btw. How in the hell does trading for an all-star while giving up absolutely nothing earn a d grade? Awe inspiring

I can see a C+ or a B- because we are in a tough spot financially. Like it's said in that piece, the 4 main Suns earn enough to exceed the luxury tax. That's a tough pill to swallow. Everyone is signed for the next 3 seasons as well so the only hope of financial relief is a cap bump.

As I saw it, the Suns were already locked into the next several seasons without much ability to make moves.

If they realistically wanted to remain a contender, about their only response was to slam the pedal to the metal and go for it. Fortunately, the Suns had just such an option. I didn't see this trade coming at all, much less keeping Ayton as well.

Is James Jones this clever or is he really good at jumping from rock to rock while crossing a stream?

Haynes is reporting the Heat are now shifting their focus to Lillard.

This trade is a very risky business decision, even though the potential upside is very high. We need to make sure that all 3 are healthy come playoff time.
The next step is to trade DA for rotation players. Hornets may want him? For Williams and Oubre (s&t) maybe?

Have you seen that move Speed? If so.. Basically what you’re saying is like when they were on the subway going fast and the brakes weren’t work. So Keanu Reeves says to speed up instead of finding a way to slow down.

I think the moment we made the KD we were fully going all in. If it doesn’t happen the next couple of years we will have to pay for it after that. I am on board. Lets do it.

Seems pretty one sided. I assume the Wiz just think they overpaid for Beal and between the hammy and knee issues he might be about to fall off a cliff. But seems like it's just as likely he got through an injury plagued year and will be much better next year having sat out the end of the year and of course the playoffs.

Lethal offensive player and to get him without having to give up Ayton is a surprise to me. There's reporting that says he only agreed to waive his no trade if the Suns kept Ayton so I guess we'll see.

On paper lethal trio.

I was trying to explain this to a friend who doesn’t think it was one sided and we gave up our depth.

We were going to waive CP3. Shamet seems up and down according to most people here. Second round picks were more than likely going to be crap anyways. We made out on the deal.

Kind of related.

I hit an ice slick heading towards Phoenix a number of years ago, and my vehicle was totally out of control heading towards a steep dropoff.

The previous night, I had watched a video that said to accelerate in this type of situation. Did I believe it? Absolutely not.
Did it work? Yes, I was totally in shock when my vehicle came out of the skid. I still don't understand it,

However, sometimes pushing the accelerator works.

ESPN are clowns. If the Lakers had dumped Westbrook to the Wizards for Beal, ESPN would be shouting about what geniuses the Lakers front office were. They are full of it.

I’ve never been a Beal fan but they got him for essentially nothing that would’ve helped us going forward. The Suns were going over the 2nd apron eventually so the contract isn’t that big of a deal. I’d sign up for the Schroeder, PatBev and Crowder types right now. Bring back Jock.

The Suns will need some dogs. We might as well embrace the black hat. Pat Bev and Dillon Brooks anyone? Maybe Crowder?

Not Pat Bev he’s WASHED, but Dillion Brooks isn’t a bad player at all. He just let the character get to out of control. I’d love Crowder

anyone saying we gave up our depth, is referring to 1 guy, shamet. Not the depth any suns fan cares about.

financially we have the same restrictions this year.

I appreciate most of his time here but I’m glad he’s out. His game was eroding fast and I think he caused some internal tension. PUSH THE PACE.

Yeah. I’m glad him and Monty are gone. It ran its course.

I’m really interested to see what Vogul cooks up. Running with Payne, Booker, Beal, KD and Ayton could be crazy.
